Concept I wanted to communicate the mentally stiumlating aspect of Effect and the idea that this drink can make you more alert and on the ball. To communicate this to students I thought about boring nights in student flats, when students are not going on nights out what else are they doing? So I came up with the concept of ‘Nights With Effect’, encouraging students to stay in and drink effect and give them fun things to do that would also make them think like brain teasers, tongue twisters and puzzles. I applied these to items that I thought students would need/want such as glasses and coasters that could be distributed at freshers fairs and/or student unions.

Helvetica Neue Regular, Bold & Light
The brief specified the use of the font Helvetica Neue, but I selected all other design decisions. From looking at existing Effect promotions I was able to pick a colour palette that would ensure my designs were consistent. Also from looking at the other designs and packaging I decided to use a modernist style throughout as the cleanliness is similar to a lot of the other designs and inparticular the can design.

Interactive Glass Students always need home ware such as simple glass tumblers. By printing a wordsearch onto these they can stimulate their minds whilst drinking effect. There are 8 words to find on the glasses: effect, cool, taste, energy, night, day, fun and now. There is no list as this makes it more of a challenge. Dry Wipe markers can be used to draw onto glass, and this is easy to wipe off. Branded pens could be given with the glasses as part of the freshers week give away.

The letter 'x'. It is the 24th letter of the alphabet, XX in Roman numerals means 20, and XXX is used to refer to inapropriate or ‘unclean‘ material.
Brain Teaser Coasters Simple printed promotional coasters which are useful to students, not only will these prevent having to clean rings off surfaces they will brighten up drab student accommodation. These coastes include brain teasers with the answers printed upside on the reverse.

Interactive Posters Rather than a typical promotional poster, these circles have been printed with a material that can be scratched off to reveal different fun, mentally stimulating activities. The scratch aspect makes the poster more interactive and I thought about the excitement and anticipation related to opening advent calender doors.
