Brief 12: Design Publication The Brief
Concept
Apply a range of research methods in the investigation of issues, practices, practitioners and companies relating to your own particular area of study. This should culminate in the design and production of a Case Study in the form of a book.
The publication consists of a body of research carried out into the field of branding design, over the course of the year. Over the past three years I have developed a large interest in building brands and enjoy the full process from naming and language to the visual identity and applications.
Deliverables
The steps in the process are like building blocks that come together to form a brand identity. The publication explains these steps whilst giving examples from my practise and other practitioners.
A publication that communicates a body of research into an appropriate area of graphic design.
These three sections are colour coded throughout the publication.

Cover and Binding Method
The cover is made using three different coloured layered stocks, representing the colour coded sections of the book and also working with the idea of building. Three screws were used to bind the book as the aesthetic of this bind again fits with the concept of building.

Layout
The spreads all worked in thirds to continue the theme of three. The layouts were kept simple to allow focus on the content and to ensure the colour coded lines were as clear as possible to assist navigation. The font Montserrat was used as a heading font throughout and this was also used for the logo. This was chosen due to its contemporary and strong look working with the building aspect. This ensured there was a consistency throughout. 3/4

Studio Focus
This section of the publication looks in depth at three studios,Vast, Music and Thompson and examples of their work. Insert pages are a third of the width of the spread allowing the images to be viewed in full for maximum impact. This also encourages audience engagement.
