Tigerprint Christmas Icon Cards

Merry Christmas Santa

3

Creative Challenge Design one or a series of Christmas cards based on Christmas icons and think what could be seen as an icon of the festive period. My Experience develop my Illustrator skills as I often stick to the same, simple, outlined vector illustrations but knew there was a lot more I could do with the software. I experimented with different effects, brushes and opacities and two of my final designs used some of these, and I was really pleased with the outcome. On completion of the brief I felt pride in pushing myself to develop these skills independently and feel this will be beneficial in future briefs.

This was the first brief that I completed as part of the module and it gave me a taste of how rewarding it is to select a brief yourself, set your own individual deadline and meet it. However, I also experienced the initial disappointment when you realize your design hasn’t been acknowledged. There were a lot of submissions for this competition and I did not expect to win, but Tigerprint draw a shortlist of around fifty entries and not making this short list was quite disheartening at first. However, being my first brief I feel it was a positive thing to go through these emotions as I was more prepared for the briefs to come.

For submission to the Tigerprint website simple JPEG images of the designs were required, however I knew when presenting for this module that photographing printed cards would give a much more professional and realistic finish. I printed these on card and although the print quality is good the way they have been photographed is lacking as at this stage of the module I hadn’t used the photography studios and lighting before so didn’t know how to correctly set up my work to photograph at a high level. On reflection I wish I had independently sought out the assistance needed to achieve higher quality photographs, or even rephotographed at a later date. However, I am still pleased with the designs and I have since gained experience in the photography studios.

This was a fairly quick turnaround brief and I am glad I didn’t spend longer than planned on it. I set myself two days to start and complete the brief and I managed to fulfil the brief in this set time. Again being the first completed brief this was another learning curve as I successfully assessed the brief and what was required and designated a time-scale I felt was appropriate to this. In terms of answering the brief I was really pleased with my submissions as I felt my take on what a Christmas icon could be was more unique than many entries and the brief was asking you to think ‘outside the box’. I took this brief as an opportunity to push and

Secret 7 Lorde, Team

7

Creative Challenge Design a record sleeve for Lorde’s track titled Team. This must not include the artists name or the song title. My Experience When I submitted to Secret 7 last year I was happy with my design as I felt confident with my concept, but looking back at this now with a developed understanding of concepts and concept development, I can see that the reasoning for my design probably wasn’t clear to other people. Because of this, and also because I enjoyed designing for music, I decided to submit to the competition again this year. The exhibition and sale also raises money for charity, which is another reason I wanted to take part again.

day onto what I had originally planned to spend on the brief, making it a two day brief rather than one day but it did mean I had to re-think my time plan and make sure I still met the deadline. I looked on this as a positive learning experience as despite the change of plan I still submitted three days before the deadline and in addition to pushing a skill I hadn’t used in a while I was also really pleased with my overall submission. I used Photoshop to edit the photographs I took to achieve a high contrast monochrome look and also to arrange and layer different elements of the photographs together, such as the block of flats. I don’t often use Photoshop so again this encouraged me to develop another skill, which will be beneficial in future briefs.

I came up with several ideas after listening to the song many times but I decided to focus on one of the key themes of the song based on coming from a less fortunate area but dreaming of better things. In addition to working around this concept I also tried to reflect Lorde’s contemporary style with the monochrome photography and geometric diamond shape, which is also a reference to dreaming of a better life.

I had not seen any of my peers designs for this years Secret 7 before submitting, but when discussing after the deadline and seeing what other people had submitted it became apparent that many people had responded to Lorde’s track in a similar way to myself using a monochrome colour scheme, a diamond shape and Secret 7 even tweeted that digital collage had been very popular this year. It therefore came as no surprise when my design wasn’t selected as I realized my concept and design was not a unique interpretation of the song. On reflection I do feel that my response was probably a little too literal and whereas I was trying to ensure my concept was clear I think I could have been slightly more abstract with the way I visually represented the song.

Although this was a quick turnaround brief I did spend a little longer than I had originally planned to spend on it as my initial plan was to create an illustrative cover, but when developing my design I felt my sleeve would benefit from including photography, and rather than using secondary sourced imagery I thought it would be best if I took my own photographs. This meant finding and going to a location and carrying out my own shoot, however I am really glad I did this as it refreshed my photography skills that I have only used minimally whilst on the course so far. The inclusion of photography only added an extra

YCN Effect Student Campaign

Creative Challenge Create a campaign to introduce students to the energy drink effect. This must be creative and engaging and communicate the qualities of effect.

9

My Experience promote the brand.

I selected the Effect brief as my main, substantial brief for this module but I soon started to regret this decision as I experienced what we had discussed in the early stages of the module regarding briefs not being as straight forward as they initially seem.

After initially looking into modernist design and developing my designs from this I took my presentation boards to the final crit knowing that the design was not appropriate to the audience. The crit then confirmed my thoughts on my design and as a result I had to go back to the drawing board and re-think the design. This was disheartening and stressful, but necessary.

I chose the brief as I thought being aimed at a student audience I would be able to get great feedback from my peers and being a student myself I thought would be helpful as I would know what students really want. I also wanted to work with promotion and creating a campaign as in other modules I tend to often produce publications or work with branding so I thought it would be beneficial to push my skills as a designer and work in other fields.

It took a long time and a lot of different designs and development but I eventually achieved an aesthetic that I was happy fitted with the brand but also appealed to students. I didn’t want to stick to the colours Effect had used in the past as these are what gives the very clinical look which I didn’t feel suggested energy in any way so I selected the two gradients to represent both energy and Effect with the red and yellow gradient and to represent the night-time with the blue gradient. The colours and pattern created a far more student friendly design than the previous.

The existing Effect brand is very clinical looking and simple in design, but this design would not appeal to a wide variety of students so my biggest challenge was coming up with a design aesthetic that both fitted in with the brand but also appealed to a student audience.

I definitely feel like I spent too long on this brief and I wish I had started it sooner as perhaps I would have realized that my first design was not appropriate to the audience sooner. I have questioned now whether I should have given up on the brief after the crit when I realized just how hard it was going to be to fulfill the brief in terms of making it exciting for students whilst fitting with the brand. However I am glad I persisted as I am really pleased with the final outcome and feel that I answered the brief in a unique and creative way.

I came up with the campaign Nights With Effect to promote the mentally stimulating qualities of the drink, encouraging students to spend the night with effect whilst playing mind games and brain-teasers to ‘feel the effect’. To promote this campaign I chose to create a pack to be distributed at freshers week as I know that this is somewhere all students go to pick up free things. However, I wanted to make sure I gave them products they would use and want rather than throw away which is why I chose items such as glass tumblers and coasters. I also wanted this to be quite interactive to try and encourage the audience to really get involved with the products which is why I used the scratch off poster effect and the word search on the glass. I am really proud of the concept and the products I came up with as I feel they are both innovative and creative as well as useful for students and thus they should successfully

I am glad that I managed to incorporate some of my own interests into this brief with the interactive scratch off print effect, as it allowed me test a method I have known about for some time but never got around to trying. It also meant the product was more interactive and engaging not just a gimmick.

HK Beauty Branding & Identity

13

Creative Challenge Brand Leeds based beauty business HK Beauty and apply the brand to price lists, business cards, appointment cards and loyalty cards in addition to proposing graphics to be applied to a car. My Experience Throughout this brief I had to make sure I was keeping track of costs of printing as the client was re-imbursing this. As part of this brief I also found places that she could have the products I designed printed in vast quantities as for now she just wanted a small number of each product as she is in the process of moving to a more permanent salon. In addition to helping the client this also improved my understanding and knowledge of commercial costing’s and locations.

This was my first experience of a live brief working for a client and although I enjoyed the design process and designing for a beauty brand I did have a few difficulties with the client along the way in terms of them not knowing exactly what they wanted. As a result of this I did spend a little longer than I had planned on this brief. I had planned for this brief to take around one month as I was going to be working on it along side other briefs and I was designing quite a substantial amount of products for this. However, designing the logo took longer than I thought as when I started to design I felt like I needed to offer the client a large variety of designs to pick from when on reflection I think I should have been more confident and shown her a smaller selection of the designs I felt were the strongest and best reflected the qualities she was aiming for. However, as soon as we had settled on a logo and visual identity the other products came together quite quickly.

I chose to photograph the final printed products as the client is in the process of moving salons and so she wouldn’t be putting the products into use until after the module deadline. Although I used the photography studios to photograph my response to the Effect brief this built my confidence further regarding arranging work to show it to it’s full potential and setting up lighting and backgrounds to achieve the best photographs. This is another skill that will definitely be beneficial in the future. Despite the few difficulties I enjoyed working for a client and feel I gained a lot from this brief and will hopefully feel more confident in working on live briefs in the future. I also enjoyed the brief as branding is a field of interest so it was fun to get to work in this area.

The client specified that she wanted the logo to be more typographic rather than including symbols or imagery and this led me to experiment with manipulating existing typefaces, which is something I have little experience with. The HK in the final logo is a manipulated version of an existing font and is fitting with the qualities that the client stated in the initial brief as it had a contemporary and feminine aesthetic.

Silver Wedding Anniversary Invites & RSVP’s

17

Creative Challenge Design and produce invitations and RSVP’s for a silver wedding anniversary party incorporating the colour silver and penguins in some way. My Experience However, despite being happy with the finish the printing process and accurately cutting out 45 invites and 45 RSVP’s took about three weeks in total, which added an extra 2 weeks onto my plan as I had originally only assigned one week to the brief. This was due to the print room being full on occasions and silver foil being out of stock for some time in college but also as the process of foiling with a heat press can be temperamental and not give perfect results each time. I did however complete the designing element of the brief in the time I allocated myself as I assigned three days to the design, including amendments and I managed to stick to this.

This was a live brief but unlike the HK Beauty brief this was for a family member. I was initially really looking forward to this brief, and although I enjoyed the design process and getting the chance to screen print and work with foiling, I am not sure I will be volunteering my design services to family members again as this added extra pressure and I feel family members can often take advantage of you and your time and it is obviously more difficult to disagree or say no to family members. Other than the inclusion of the colour silver and penguins the clients didn’t know what style of invitations they wanted or any other colour to go with the silver, so I had to make a lot of these decisions and keep in contact with them. This also meant I had to produce a variety of designs and colour schemes to show them before settling as they had very little idea what they wanted. This added a lot of pressure as they told me that the colour scheme I selected would be continued throughout the party. This is why I ensured I gave them a few choices.

Similarly to with the HK Beauty brief I had to keep track of how much I was spending on the completion of this brief as the clients were reimbursing these costs. I feel that cost is something you forget about when producing work for yourself of for college purposes and I hadn’t realized how expensive this kind of production is. I am really pleased with the final products and thoroughly enjoyed the process of designing and producing these invites. I find screen printing and working with finishing techniques such as foiling really rewarding and exciting so I am glad I managed to incorporate this into the module, especially as they also fitted the brief perfectly.

The clients didn’t have any preferences regarding printing processes but I thought as invitations are something you give out to people you care about and with hope that they will accept, screen printing and foiling would add a high-end and more bespoke quality that cannot be replicated through digital print. I was also really happy to get to print and foil the invites and RSVP’s as printing is something I really enjoy.

YCN Morrisons

Creative Challenge Create a new in store innovation that will make the shopping experience more fun than functional and keep the new generation of shoppers shopping instore rather than online.

19

My Experience hopefully be beneficial in the future.

Both Mel and I agreed that this would be a great brief for us to complete as a creative partnership as I work part time in Morrisons and so have a strong understanding of the brand values and ethos of Morrisons and we both have interests in designing for a retail environment.

I feel my personal contribution to the brief was quite substantial as the concept we worked with was developed from one that I brought to our initial concept session and this was also the case with the logo design, which then formed the basis of the overall design aesthetics we used across the range of products.

We did interpret the brief in a way that was more suitable to what we wanted to do with it, as it was initially asking for us to come up with an in-store innovation but what we came up with was more of a permanent promotional campaign, but we feel this is also an innovation with the inclusion of the points card for customers that Morrisons do not currently have.

The final crit was however a huge wake-up call for both Mel and I and as we both looked at our designs and felt really disappointed. We felt it looked cheap and quite unprofessional and we didn’t feel it did our concept justice, as we were really proud of this. Comparing our designs to the standard of many other partnerships designs was disheartening but this was ultimately what was needed to get our design to a point that we were pleased with and proud of. We re-visited the design straight after the crit and it didn’t take us long to identify that it was the amount of yellow in our initial design that was the issue and that the design was too minimal. After incorporating the trolley pattern and making the logo more related to the concept with the magnifying glass we soon reached the final design that we were both proud to put our names on. This situation was very similar to my experience with the Effect brief and I was again nervous about re-approaching the design but similarly to my experience with the Effect brief the end result was worth the extra time spent.

The aim of the brief was to encourage the next generation of shoppers to shop in store with Morrisons, rather than online, and the concept we came up with is based on the 90s gameshow Supermarket Sweep, which is appropriate to this audience as this age range will have grown up watching the show. The concept is fun and light-hearted encouraging shoppers to find hidden items around stores to collect points, but we felt this would make the shopping experience more interactive and fun which is what the brief was asking us to do. The concept allowed us to design a range of products ensuring there was enough design work for the both of us.

I have enjoyed working as a creative partnership, being able to spread the workload and make the most of two brains and pairs of hands, as well as having someone to share the stressful times with. I am really pleased with how much we got done in the time and how we identified the design problem and overcame it. Despite being close friends Mel and I managed to complete the brief with no arguments which is definitely a positive.

Throughout the brief we ensured that we assigned roles to ensure we were making the most of having two of us working on this brief, as we didn’t want to waste time working on the same areas. I volunteered to design the website and the app as all my resolutions to briefs so far have been print based so I thought it would be a great opportunity to push my digital design skills and work with design for screen. I am really glad I did this as I now feel more confident in this area of design which will

Yoke Dialogue

23

Creative Challenge Design an A3 black and white poster based on the theme of dialogue, to be layered with another creative’s design and screen printed. My Experience I was really excited to get involved with this as my interest and enthusiasm for print has really grown since the beginning of the course. Dialogue is a screen print exhibition aiming to get creatives talking, and as networking and making contacts within the industry is something I have so far really struggled with this made the brief even more appealing.

about coming up with a concept and design that reflected the theme of dialogue.

Eve and Nathan from the third year, whom form the collaborative Yoke, presented to us and asked us to submit A3 designs in black and white as these would then be layered with another creatives designs to form unique screen prints for the exhibition. Dialogue was the theme of the exhibition and so they asked us to think about what dialogue can mean and reflect this in our designs.

I would like to screen print my designs myself in the near future as I think they work really well as posters on their own and I would like to see how they work in colour as opposed to just black and white.

I gave myself a day for this brief but actually finished in half a day which I was very pleased with as at this stage in the module I had worked on a few more substantial briefs so was happy to get another quicker turn around brief finished.

I went to the exhibition-opening event on the 27th March and after seeing my name on the promotional posters I was looking forward to seeing my design combined with someone else’s. However, I was quite disappointed, as I couldn’t really tell what my design had been combined with as there was simply a few small shapes that I couldn’t really make out at the top of my design that hadn’t been printed in the green, that I think may have been someone else’s design. My design was also not in the exhbition itself it was in the pile of postcards for people to take away which is why I haven’t included this in this report. Despite this I enjoyed getting involved with the exhibition and being a part of it. I am also really pleased with the concept I came up with and the designs I submitted.

Rather than thinking about dialogue in an obvious way I tried to think about what else dialogue could be and what is involved in communication. This led me to think about body language and how this affects communication and can influence how conversation develops. From this starting point I developed a series of simple illustrations showing various body positions that can be interpreted both negatively and positively. I submitted three variations of my design to allow Yoke to select which design they thought would work best as a print. Having the specific format and colour scheme already assigned made this an easier and quicker brief as it meant resolving the brief was simply

Puffin The Outsiders

25

Creative Challenge Design a book cover to re-introduce teenage audiences to the classic story The Outsiders. My Experience I really enjoyed working in the book cover format and thinking about how the front cover will work alone in addition to how this will visually link to the spine and back cover. I would like to work in this format again and I have found some websites that offer quicker turnaround briefs requiring book cover designs, I hope to do more of these in the future.

I decided to work on the Penguin Random House Design Award as I felt at this stage in the module I wanted a brief I could research into in more depth and work on concept development. I started to read the book before Christmas as I knew it was a brief I would enjoy but I didn’t know whether I would have the time to fit it in. This meant I managed to finish the book a few weeks before the deadline.

Although I was aware that the submission process didn’t require design boards I was not aware that there would be no opportunity to write about the concept I was working with, which made me slightly nervous as it meant the design really had to speak for itself. However, I am pleased with my design and how I visually conveyed my concept and so I am not too worried about this.

I set myself two weeks on this brief including research and development of concepts, and I fortunately managed to complete the brief before the end of the two weeks so I decided to take the opportunity to continue my design into other relevant products, such as book marks, to show the potential of the design.

It was clear on completion of this brief how far I have come throughout the module in terms of time planning and getting a large amount of work done in a set amount of time as I don’t think at the start of the module I would have completed the cover in two weeks whereas within this brief I managed to produce additional items in the set time also. The confidence that I have developed in my own ideas and design decisions has also played a part in this as I don’t spend as much time worrying about my ideas and if they will work I simply get on and if it doesn’t work I then face the issues. This confidence is something I aimed to get out of this module and so I am proud of how far I have come and I feel this will benefit my progression as a designer.

This was the first time I have designed for a younger teenage audience and I initially found it difficult to think about what qualities of a design would appeal to them. However through researching other book cover designs I over came this problem and I am glad I had this experience working for a different audience to the usual adult audience I design for, and feel this will benefit me in future potential briefs. I do however feel it would have been largely beneficial to actually speak to the target audience and get their responses to existing covers or even discuss my ideas with them. Research has been something I feel has let me down somewhat throughout the module as although I researched into relevant designs, formats and into contexts I didn’t look into the target audiences a great deal and so this is something I plan to work on in the future. This would have made me more informed and could have led to stronger design decisions.

Embarc Wines Logo & Label Design

29

Creative Challenge Design a logo and label for high end winery Embarc. This must look both contemporary and classic. My Experience I found this brief on the 99designs website and felt it would be beneficial to end the module with this brief as it would be a quick turnaround brief and it involved label design, and Secret 7 was the nearest I have got to working with packaging design in this module. I have also grown an interest in branding this year and thought it would be useful to try and develop my branding skills further within the module.

Not being able to talk to the client as easily as if you were working directly with and for them was another challenge within this brief but it forced me to be more independent which was overall a positive outcome and experience. I really enjoyed designing the bottle labels and got really excited by this when researching existing designs. I tried to offer a more creative take on the label by using the logo to create a more interesting shaped label, and I feel that this would help the bottle stand out amongst many competitors.

The brief explained a bit about the company but the paragraph was the only information I had to work with as when I tried to research the company online I couldn’t find anything, suggesting the company is just starting out or does not have an online presence. This made the brief more challenging but I read the information they had given in great detail and based my concept on this.

Working on this brief made me realize how much I enjoy branding and coming up with concepts to visually translate brand qualities and beliefs, so I definitely hope to carry out similar briefs in the future.

The brief mentioned that the wines were from California and Embarc was about starting a new journey into wines. This is why I developed a concept based on maps and the Californian outline and used this as a pattern to fill the shapes. I am pleased with my concept and how this worked within the logo design as I feel it represents what the clients wanted to convey about the brand in a subtle manner.

Throughout this module I have digitally mocked a lot of things up which is a very new skill to me. This is a great skill to have as it means I can quickly make my designs look more professional and communicate my ideas better as I can show products in context. In this brief it was really helpful as it allowed me to show the clients an example of the how the label design would look in a real life context.

The client also explained within the brief that they wanted to look both classic and contemporary which was a challenge to understand initially, but I feel I found and applied this balance successfully through my choice of colour and type.

This was the first time I had used 99 designs and I feel that this site is a good way to build contacts and gain experience doing freelance work and I would really like to do more of these briefs perhaps in the summer.

Summative Evaluation OUGD503

The responsive module has been a thoroughly enjoyable module for many reasons but one of which is the level of freedom and independence given. I enjoyed selecting my own briefs as it allowed me to develop various skills from photography and illustration to branding, it also allowed me to work in formats I haven’t previously such as with the book cover for Puffin. However, there have also been some struggles through the module and many moments when I felt like giving up on briefs, but these moments, and how I overcame them, have also assisted my development.

As part of this module I booked out and used the photography studio and equipment to photograph my final products for the first time since being at LCA. After this experience I don’t think I will ever try and photograph things just on a piece of paper in my room as the quality is so much better in the studio. This made my work look a lot more professional and increased the quality of my boards. This was a good experience for me as I know how important photographing my designs will be next year as I will need to build a portfolio. The module also helped me realize just how important design boards are and how these can be used to create impact and showcase designs to there full potential. The sessions with Fred in the later stages of the module were really helpful and eye opening when it came to boards, I realized that you don’t have to stick to the same structure and simply using a full bleed colour background can instantly create impact. I feel the last set of boards I completed documenting the designs I did for Embarc are by far my strongest as the full bleed colour instantly draws you in and ensures the boards work with the designs.

One of the key skills I developed throughout the module is my time management. I worked on a range of briefs requiring different timescales from quick turnaround briefs that often only took a day to complete, to longer briefs that required more development and testing. I evaluated briefs and assigned time-scales to them and ensured wherever possible I stuck to the deadline I had set. There were however occasions when my personal deadline had to be extended as when I started developing my ideas I realised what I was planning would take longer or in some cases I changed or adjusted concepts which required more time. However, I feel that this improved my time management even more as I had to re-plan my time and ensure I was not falling behind in any other areas because of this. I do however wish I got on with the module at an earlier stage as before Christmas I had only completed one brief and started two as I was more concerned with other modules and unfortunately put Responsive to the back of my mind, this was definitely a downfall in the module and I am disappointed as I could definitely have completed more briefs and got more from the module had I have started more briefs sooner, however I am still pleased with my overall development through the module.

Working on live briefs was also completely new to me before this module and this has been a very interesting experience. I got the chance to experience the frustrations that I have often heard about regarding communicating with clients as on occasions I struggled to understand what the client meant and what exactly they wanted changing as they found it difficult to explain. This was a big challenge but thankfully my interpretations and resolutions seemed to impress the client, however in the future I would like to try and work around this and really focus on the communication with the client, perhaps try and find ways of talking about the designs that the client will understand more.

33

In many of the completed briefs I digitally mocked up designs to show how they would work in context. This is a skill I have improved largely throughout the module working with lighting effects and shadows to create the most realistic mock up possible. This also improved many of my boards as the mock-ups often created more impact than the designs in isolation, and they also assisted the communication of concepts in some cases. This is a skill I know will be hugely beneficial in future briefs as in addition to adding a level of professionalism to my designs it will also save me time.

most decisions and this is something I am proud of. The collaborative brief was a great experience for me as I know that working as part of a team is very important within the creative industry, and previously this has been more of a struggle. The group briefs in first year rarely went to plan and there were often arguments, disagreements and at least one person who wasn’t pulling their weight, however this experience was completely different as Mel and I communicated well throughout and didn’t have any arguments, despite being close friends. I feel I improved my communication skills further as we were always letting each other know what we were working on, what was going well and what we might have been struggling with. Although we had some issues with the design element after the final crit we made sure we identified the problem and scheduled in more time to work on the issues and this resulted in final designs that we were both proud of. Following this brief I feel more confident in approaching more collaborative work. I would love to collaborate with students on different courses and this is something I hope to look into for next year.

Through selecting our own briefs for this module I managed to incorporate my own interests and learn/improve skills and areas of design that I wanted to. Although I haven’t done a huge amount of traditional printing within the module I managed to incorporate the playful, interactive print element within the Effect brief and screen-print and foil a large quantity of invitations and RSVP’s. Print is one of my main interests within graphic design so I am glad I managed to work in this way for some of the briefs, however I am also glad I pushed myself to work digitally and design the website and app for the Morrisons collaborative brief as this is one of my weaker areas and this improved my skills and confidence largely.

Looking back I am really proud of how much I achieved through the responsive module, although I would have liked to have completed more briefs I have exceeded the standard requirements for the module and I am pleased with the execution of the 9 briefs I have completed. I think if I had dedicated any more time to the module and worked on more briefs the quality of the others, and the other modules, may have suffered. The module has also boosted my confidence as I can see how much I can produce in a set amount of time, and to a high standard, I often doubt my capabilities but I hope to look back at this module as a reminder that I can achieve what I set out to if I plan carefully.

One of my most improved areas through the module I feel has been my concept development. Many of the larger briefs such as Effect, Morrisons and The Outsiders required me to really think about a concept, develop this and then visually apply it to a range of products. I also feel I can now communicate concepts a lot better through developing my board design skills but also through the many crits through the module. I don’t believe that any of my designs have been created to simply ‘look nice’, I have ensured there is reasoning behind
