Angel Miranda is an emerging artist who has been singing and performing in San Antonio, TX, for over 23 years. She started her professional career at the age of 18 and recorded her first demo featuring four original R&B songs. Angel received vocal training from Michelle Quintero of ‘Campanas de America,’ who helped her find her voice in Mariachi music and improve her pronunciation and emotional delivery. While Angel cherishes her Mexican heritage, she does not speak Spanish fluently. (There’s a story behind that). She is happily married and has three children of her own, along with three wonderful stepchildren whom she has always loved as if they were her own. Together with her husband, they have five wonderful grandchildren. After taking the necessary time to raise her children to an age of understanding, she now has the time and support to focus on her singing career. Recently, she collaborated with the legendary Tejano icon “Little Miss Dynamite” Shelly Lares to co-write and produce her full album, which includes ten songs. Her first single, titled “Amor De Ayer,” is a Mariachi track co-written with “El Gallo DEZ,” who was the first recording artist signed to the SHELLSHOCK RECORDS 3 Label. Angel has released her first two singles from the upcoming album, now available on all digital platforms. Be sure to check out her Mariachi song “Amor de Ayer” and her Country single “Who Would’ve Thunk It.” Angel Miranda was nominated as one of the Top 5 Uprising Artists of the Year at the 5th Annual All Star Music Awards, where she performed “Amor de Ayer.” The song has been well-received and is making waves throughout the Tejano community, leading to multiple radio and podcast interviews with stations in New Mexico, Corpus Christi, and her hometown of San Antonio, all eager to feature her music. The legendary Jose Rosario, President/CEO of ‘Latin Groove News,’ attended The All Star Music Awards and praised Angel’s performance, calling her a “RUNWAY HIT” and stating, “The song was a spectacular hit! CONGRATULATIONS to Angel, Shelly, and David on a sizzling hot new song!” “Amor De Ayer” won Song of the Year at the All Star Music Awards in 2024. Additionally, Angel released her first Country song in June titled “Who Would’ve Thunk It” co-written with the talented duo Shelly Lares and Rebecca Valadez. This upbeat track celebrates the wonderful journey of Angel’s relationship with her husband, whom she has been married to for 19 years and together with for 23 years. She will soon travel to California to create a music video for this beautiful song and looks forward to performing it at her album release party in February 2025. Angel also received the Best Country Crossover award at the Inaugural Tejano/Country Music Awards in San Antonio in 2024 and expresses her gratitude to Mr. Jesse Torres for his contributions to the music industry and for providing new artists with a platform to showcase their talents. Angel Miranda’s upcoming album features the talented and award-winning vocalist Rebecca Valadez, as well as the smooth sounds of the one and only Jose Rosario. There is a duet on the album featuring the incredibly talented artist Alizé Niño that is sure to excite fans! As a proud UTSA alumna, Angel is thrilled to have the incredibly talented Mariachis ‘Los Paisanos’ on three of her songs! Special thanks to Shelly Lares, who is the first -’Artist in Residence’ at UTSA and made it possible for them to be a significant part of Angel’s album. Angel Miranda is deeply thankful to God for all her blessings and is eager to make her impact in the music and entertainment industry, looking forward to sharing her testimony through her love and passion for the healing power of MUSIC.
Christmas Wines Christmas is a time for family gatherings around the tree to cherish every moment. But which wine should you enjoy? Invention Vineyards in Fredericksburg provides some of the finest selections near the renowned Texas Wine Trail and has several excellent wine recommendations for the festive season. The Invention Vineyards 2021 Right Bank ($49) is a Bordeaux-style blend that predominantly features Merlot. This attractive and approachable wine has a medium garnet colour, with delightful aromas of blueberry, black cherry, vanilla, and cedar, along with subtle notes of toasted oak. The ripe, dark fruit and sweet tannins exhibit refined finesse and balance in this red blend. Named after the celebrated Right Bank of the Gironde Estuary in Bordeaux, it consists of a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with an ABV of a reasonable 13.6%. Exceptionally well-balanced with a smooth, sensual texture, this wine pairs wonderfully with prime rib and creamy horseradish sauce during the holiday season. Sangiovese, believed to have origins before Roman times, remains timeless. The Invention Vineyards 2021 Sangiovese ($44) is a classic red wine that showcases typical aromas of cherry, sun-dried tomato, and red currant. With a pale garnet colour and a brick rim, this wine invites aromas of sour cherry, red licorice, cinnamon, leather, and red plum, making it an ideal choice for the holiday season. This light-bodied wine with gentle tannins would complement Christmas pork tamales and sweet corn salsa beautifully.
If you’re dreaming of a white wine Christmas, the Invention Vineyards 2022 Viognier ($37) presents classic aromas of Meyer lemon, grapefruit, and honeysuckle. This rich, full-bodied wine has a lovely pale straw colour with a hint of chartreuse. Enticing aromas of grapefruit, peach, apricot, and mandarin orange are complemented by an intriguing hint of lemongrass. This elegant white pairs excellently with rich dishes like scalloped potatoes with thyme and cheddar, and would also be perfect for the feast of seven fishes. A friend of mine, Sylvia invited me out for Happy Hour a few weeks ago. She suggested a restaurant called Blu Prime Steakhouse. While I had never heard of it, my curiosity had me. As a food and wine editor, I am always looking out for new experiences. When we walked inside, we were greeted by Tiani Rodriguez, Captain of Guest Relations. She graciously introduced us to the waitstaff and gave us a tour. I truly felt as if I was meeting Carrie from Sex and the City! The restaurant has a New York setting feel with beautiful sapphire lights in each room with holiday decorations giving us a feeling of delightful and warm experience. We sat at the crown bar and decided to order off the happy hour menu. Tiani brought over two glasses of their champagne which were very smooth and refreshing. I decided to order a Classic Cesar Salad. The salad, created with artisan romaine lettuce, Ceaser dressing, croutons, parmesan and white Spanish anchovies. Sylvia ordered Prime Sliders which were made with brioche buns, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, garlic aioli, and house made chips. With the convenient fare and being happy hour time, perfect for meeting old friends. The bartender provided exceptional service with a warm hospitality charm. This gem of a restaurant is one to keep in mind when celebrating special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries or enjoying happy hour with a friend! As always, read and share SA Monthly Magazine. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

The year 2024 has certainly passed quickly. The same can be expected for 2025; many individuals will aim to adopt the “New Year, New Me” philosophy. Setting goals is always a positive endeavor. It is widely known that gyms and wellness facilities experience a significant surge in memberships, particularly from December to January; January enrollment alone is projected to increase by 12% (NPR, 2018). A survey by NPR and The Marist Poll revealed that nearly half (44%) of people will establish a resolution, with three out of the top four resolution goals being related to health and wellness. However, it has been reported that over 80% of these resolutions will be abandoned within the first five months of the year (https://www.glofox.com/blog/6-new-years-resolutiongym-statistics-you-need-to-know). Interestingly, this same survey found that most individuals who quit the gym tend to work out alone. Additional research indicated that gym attendance typically declines by the second weekend of February, which coincidentally aligns with an increase in fast food purchases during that same weekend (Four Square and City Lab, 2018). Gyms have recognized that individuals are more likely to attend when they feel personal and social connections; group sessions have proven to enhance gym attendance by 56% (NPR, 2018). While not all resolutions pertain to health and wellness, the majority do. People also set goals to save money, eliminate credit card and loan debts, or make significant purchases like a car or home. Some may resolve to cook more meals at home, spend less on gifts and more on experiences, learn a new language, read a specific number of books, declutter their spaces, pursue higher education or certification programs, pick up a new hobby, become more sociable, or live
with greater intention. Regardless of their objectives, I often suggest that my patients create vision boards (collages) that are enjoyable to make and allow them to visualize their goals daily in their homes or offices. Hosting vision board parties can be a delightful way to gather with friends and family, utilizing poster boards, markers, scissors, glue, and magazines to craft a board that represents both short-term and long-term aspirations. It can be a fun experience for participants to share their visions with the group, while also serving as a method of accountability since they have publicly expressed their goals. After creating a vibrant vision board, what comes next? SMART goals can be helpful in organizing these aspirations. They should be: Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Timely For instance, if you wish to learn a language, such as American Sign Language, it is specific. It is measurable as you progress from the alphabet to simple phrases, eventually advancing to conversational ASL. Is it attainable? Absolutely! There are numerous resources available, including books, videos, websites, social and community events, college courses, or community education programs to assist. Is it realistic? Yes, people learn languages every day. Is it timely? With consistent practice of just 15 minutes a day, significant progress can be achieved in a year. Utilizing SMART goals allows you to outline a timeline and specific details for your objectives, thereby increasing the likelihood of success. You can always document your goals and then create a timeline for achieving them, detailing the steps, tools, and resources required. Think of it as crafting a blueprint or roadmap for success. In conclusion, I sincerely hope that 2025 turns out to be an exceptional year for everyone. Dr. Ana Alicia A. Potthast

The Beauty of Divine Beings Dancing The gong resounds, the curtain opens, and a heavenly scene is right before your eyes. Fairies emerge from a sea of billowing clouds. Mongolians ride on horseback across grasslands as vast as the sky. Classic stories of love and loss, of humor and heroic deeds, come to life. You will be amazed by how vibrant, exciting, and profound classical Chinese culture can be. A Divine Culture - Lost Through breathtaking dance and music, Shen Yun’s artists tell of a time when divine beings walked upon the earth, leaving behind a culture that inspired generations. Ancient Chinese wisdom, infused with Buddhist and Taoist spirituality and values, gave birth to everything from medical innovations to opera, dance, architecture, and even martial arts. But after decades of communist rule, much of this divinely inspired culture has been destroyed or forgotten. 5,000 Years of Civilization Reborn Shen Yun is a brilliant artistic revival and celebration of China’s rich cultural heritage. Each performance consists of about 20 pieces, quickly moving from one legend, region, or dynasty to the next. Themes range from the delicate elegance of Tang court ladies to the battlefield heroics of valiant generals, from the timeless philosophical works of Lao-Tzu to spectacular scenes of magical realms. Some pieces also touch upon the topic of today’s China, shedding light on the oppression many experience for their spiritual beliefs, such as Falun Dafa. These tales of courage are often what audience members find the most touching and uplifting. Shen Yun’s works convey the extraordinary depth and breadth of genuine Chinese culture, and bring the magnificence of five thousand years of civilization back to life on stage.

How did you get started in your career? In 1986, I was a young Hispanic woman, just 22 years old. I had dropped out of college and was desperate to find a job. While looking through the want ads, I found a position as a sales secretary at the ABC affiliate KSAT 12. Luckily, that was the start of a long-lasting career in sales, media, and management. At the time, I noticed the sales reps driving around in nice cars and making good money, and I knew I wanted more for my future. I didn’t have much, but I had the determination to learn and grow. I was willing to put in the hard work and absorb everything about the business world, and that’s how I got my start.
How did you get where you are today, and who/what helped you along the way? Great question! I don’t think I have enough space to name everyone who helped me along the way, but a few key people stand out. It all started with my first boss. I boldly told him I wanted to apply for an Account Executive position. He threw a phone book at me and said, 'If you can get appointments for new business meetings, we can review and discuss the possibilities.' I took on the challenge, secured the meetings, and soon noticed a position open at Paragon Cable. I applied and was hired. However, as the youngest person on the team, I initially felt out of place. Then came another person who helped me. A colleague at Paragon noticed how I was feeling and told me her husband had an open Account Executive position at his company. The target audience was younger and a better fit for me. I applied, got the job, and her husband—who became my boss— probably had the most significant impact on my future. On payday, he asked how much I was contributing to my 401(k), which at the time had a 100% match. Thanks to his guidance, I had saved close to $200,000 by the time I was in my 30s. Another influential person was my next manager, who became my mentor. She took the time to show me, account by account, how to work with clients and close deals. Her style and tenacity shaped the way I approach business today. What helped me the most, though, was my passion and love for the business. It’s what keeps me going through the ups and downs and continues to drive me today. Three pieces of advice for young women starting in the business: • Keep learning. Don’t think you can impress others with your interpretation of the industry. Learn all the elements of this ever-changing environment. Your education is important and should never stop. • Stay humble. No one likes a know-it-all, especially a young woman with little or no experience. Learn from the best! When you gain insights from successful people with years of experience, you become better than your competition. • Get out and meet people. Business owners have unique problems—sympathize with them and create solutions. Nothing beats showing your passion and abilities. Do you think women feel intimidated in business? Yes, unfortunately, I believe many women still face intimidation in business. While we’ve made significant strides, there’s still a long road ahead. As someone who grew up in the sixties, I’ve seen the evolution of women’s rights firsthand. But progress didn’t come easy. Did you know? • In Weeks v. Southern Bell (1969), Lorena Weeks fought for a promotion after being denied simply because she was a woman. She won her case after several appeals, paving the way for equal employment opportunities. • In 1970, Eleanor Holmes Norton represented 60 women from Newsweek who were denied reporter positions solely because of their gender. They won, and women were finally allowed in those roles. • In 1989, the U.S. Supreme Court case Price Waterhouse v. Hopkins ruled that gender stereotyping is a form of sex discrimination.
These legal battles shaped the world we live in today, but we still owe it to our foremothers to continue breaking barriers. We need to be proud, fierce, and hold our heads high. It’s up to us to lead the way for today’s young women, showing them that with hard work and determination, they can succeed no matter what challenges they face. What are your greatest challenges in your job? Every day is a challenge as a business owner—especially as a Hispanic woman in this industry. But as the saying goes, 'If it were easy, everyone would be doing it!' Challenges aren’t roadblocks; they’re what keep me going. Without them, I’d be bored. I constantly strive to: •. Stay updated: I’m always learning—whether through the latest marketing insights, webinars, or new technologies. • Manage time effectively: Balancing work and life is critical. Unfortunately, that becomes hard to do if you love what you do. I try and spend time with family and friends. It is just hard to shut down your computer and call it day. • Build new business: My team never approaches potential clients without thorough research. We ask ourselves, 'Why do they need Paredes Marketing?' It’s about solving their needs. • Provide excellent client service: We continuously seek ways to help clients grow and succeed. • Network and mentor: Attending mixers and events is key, as is training up-and-coming talent. I take pride in being a hands-on owner. After 35+ years in this industry, the challenges still drive me. What would you like your 'Women in Business' legacy to be? My legacy is with my family. My father, brother, and nephew have passed away, and there is no man to carry on our family name except me. Paredes Marketing is my life, my future, and my passion. I was raised by an incredible family that taught five children we could achieve anything we wanted. I pass that same belief along to my daughters. Who knows? Maybe one of them will take over Paredes Marketing someday. One can only wish!

Business Is A Perpetual Game By Howie Nestel As the year winds down, many business owners stop to reflect or take a break before the new year. The crew at my advertising agency, Sharkmatic, takes a different approach. For us, the end of the year is not a time to pause or prep ‚Äî it’s a time to continue playing the perpetual game of business. A thriving business has no off-season. Markets don’t rest, customer needs don’t halt, and competitors don’t wait. Business is continuous: no finish line, no tipping point where the work is “done.”Success depends on maintaining momentum and taking the next step, regardless of the season. As companies plan budgets or wrap up campaigns, they should maximize opportunities that others may overlook. Although holidays bring marketing challenges, consumers are still engaging, and digital trends shift constantly. This makes the end and beginning of a year a critical time for businesses to strengthen their presence, refine their message, and capture attention before competitors gain the advantage. An all-in mentality keeps your business moving forward. Sustain your efforts and seize every chance to move ahead. Businesses that want a strong year-end finish should remember: in the perpetual game of business, the clock never stops. Success is about showing up and playing hard all year long. What Happens If I Get Injured During the Holiday Season? The holidays are in full swing. Everyone is rushing out for black Friday sales, holiday parties, and Christmas gifts. With everything going on, unfortunately, the chances increase that an accident can happen. While many accidents can and do happen on the streets, many can happen inside stores, restaurants, and other businesses. While many think that this may not be that serious, it’s quite the opposite. People can, and often do, get injured inside stores, parking lots, parking garages, hotels, restaurants, and even car dealerships. Injuries can also take many different forms. It may be something as simple as falling over merchandise or falling on food or beverages dropped on the floor. However, it can be as serious as being assaulted on your way to the car in the parking lot. The chances of all these increase with the increase in traffic at business over the holidays. Injuries can vary from simple soft tissue damage, all the way to serious bodily injury, or even death. These generally fall under the category of premises liability cases. These include, as you may expect, injuries that happen on someones property. The general rule is that businesses have a duty to warn or make safe known conditions on their property. For example, if a dangerous condition exists on a property, that property owner or entity who exercises control over the property has a duty to provide a warning of the danger (ex: post signs/ warnings etc.) or make the condition safe. If they fail to
do this, and someone is injured, they can be liable. In some cases this can be significant exposure to liability on their part. Many businesses and the companies that insure them, are aware of this risk. As a result, they teach their insureds how to protect their companies (and their insurers) of this liability. Many businesses, however, do nothing whatsoever to protect their customers when there are known dangers. How many times have you seen something dangerous on a business property and tell someone, and they could care less? Unfortunately, many (not all) businesses treat their customers poorly, knowing that if anyone was injured there is a good chance they won’t seek legal counsel. Something else to consider is that if you are injured on someone’s property and attempt to settle the matter yourself, you are almost certain to be taken advantage of by the business itself, and/or their insurance company. Because businesses and insurance companies are more savvy regarding the issues surrounding premises liability law, they can be very cunning at using your words against you. Often getting people to minimize their injuries, or admitting they were at fault. They may even offer a small settlement because they know many people will take it, thinking their case is not serious enough to consult with a lawyer. It goes without saying, that if you are injured during the holidays, or anytime for that matter, you are generally better off seeking the advice of a personal injury attorney. Most, if not all injury attorneys offer free consultations, and don’t charge attorney’s fees unless they recover for you. In this sense, you don’t really have anything to lose by seeking advice from an attorney that does this for a living. Many people who attempt to deal with this on their own often tend to minimize their injuries and maximize their fault in the incident. It helps to have someone objectively look at the facts and give you their opinion. Philip A. Perez The Law Office of Philip A. The Chill Advantage: Why Buying a Home in Winter Can Be a Smart Move For many prospective homebuyers, the idea of purchasing a property in the winter may not seem ideal. Snow-covered driveways, chilly house tours, and shorter days might make the process feel daunting. However, savvy buyers know that the colder months can offer unique opportunities to snag a great deal and streamline the home-buying journey. Here’s why winter might just be the perfect season to settle into your dream home. 1. Less Competition, More Opportunities Winter tends to be the off-season for real estate, with fewer buyers actively searching for homes. Families often prefer to relocate during the summer to avoid school-year disruptions, and the holidays can keep others preoccupied. For you, this means less competition for available properties, fewer bidding wars, and a better chance of negotiating favorable terms. 2. Motivated Sellers Sellers who list their homes in winter often have compelling reasons to do so, whether it’s a job relocation, financial need, or a desire to close the deal quickly. These factors can translate into more motivated sellers who are willing to negotiate on price, closing costs, or other conditions to seal the deal.
3. Potential for Better Deals Historically, home prices tend to dip slightly during the winter months. While the market dynamics vary by region, this seasonal lull often provides buyers with the chance to purchase a property at a more favorable price. If you’re working within a tight budget, winter could be the perfect time to stretch your dollars further. 4. A Clearer Picture of the Home’s Condition Winter weather can reveal issues that might not be noticeable during the warmer months. Drafty windows, poor insulation, or inefficient heating systems become apparent when temperatures drop. Touring a home in winter allows you to evaluate how it holds up in harsher conditions, potentially saving you from costly surprises later. 5. Faster Closings The slower pace of the winter real estate market often means lenders, appraisers, and real estate agents have more bandwidth to dedicate to your transaction. This can lead to faster processing times, fewer delays, and a quicker path to moving day. 6. Savings on Moving Costs Moving companies are often less busy during the winter months, which can result in lower moving rates and more flexibility in scheduling your move. Additionally, utility companies and service providers may be more available to assist with setting up your new home. Tips for Winter Home Buying Success If you’re ready to dive into the winter market, keep these tips in mind to make the process as smooth as possible: • Dress for Success: Wear warm layers and waterproof shoes when touring homes to stay comfortable during outdoor inspections. • Factor in Weather Delays: Be prepared for potential delays in home inspections, appraisals, or moving due to winter storms. • Inspect for Winter-Related Issues: Pay extra attention to roofing, gutters, heating systems, and insulation to ensure the home is winter-ready. • Be Flexible with Timing: While sellers may be motivated, holidays and inclement weather could require some patience when scheduling showings and closings. Final Thoughts Buying a home in winter might not come with the idyllic spring blossoms or summer sunshine, but it can offer practical advantages that are hard to ignore. With less competition, potentially lower prices, and the chance to see how a home performs in the coldest months, winter could be the season when you find your perfect match.

Separating Fact from Fiction: Common Real Estate Myths Debunked By: Angela Pownall The real estate market is filled with myths and misconceptions that can often lead to confusion and poor decision-making. Let’s clear the air and debunk some of the most common real estate myths. Myth 1: “Now is a Bad Time to Buy or Sell” Fact: Timing the market is nearly impossible. While market conditions fluctuate, there are always opportunities to buy or sell. A skilled real estate agent can help you navigate market trends and make informed decisions, regardless of the current market conditions. Myth 2: “I Should Wait for a Market Crash” Fact: Waiting for a market crash is a risky strategy. Market crashes are unpredictable, and by the time one occurs, you may have missed out on significant price appreciation. It’s often more beneficial to focus on long-term investment strategies and work with a knowledgeable real estate agent to identify opportunities. Myth 3: “Real Estate Agents Only Care About Commission” Fact: While commission is a part of an agent’s compensation, reputable agents are dedicated to their clients’ best interests. They work diligently to find the right property or buyer and guide clients through the entire process, ensuring a smooth and successful transaction. Myth 4: “I Can Sell It Myself and Save Money” Fact: While it’s possible to navigate the real estate process independently and go the “For Sale By Owner” route, it can be time-consuming and complex. A knowledgeable real estate
agent can save you time, stress, and potentially money by leveraging their expertise, network, and negotiation skills. Myth 5: “Fixer-Uppers Are Always a Good Investment” Fact: While fixer-uppers can be profitable, they require significant time, effort, and financial resources. It’s crucial to carefully assess the potential return on investment and factor in unexpected costs, such as permits, labor, and materials. Myth 6: “Location Doesn’t Matter as Much as the House Itself” Fact: Location is one of the most critical factors in real estate. A well-maintained house in a desirable neighborhood will typically appreciate faster and retain its value better than a similar house in a less desirable area. Consider factors like school districts, proximity to amenities, and future development plans when evaluating a property’s location. By understanding and debunking these myths, you can make informed decisions about your real estate goals. Remember to consult with a trusted real estate professional to get personalized advice and guidance. Angela Pownall Redkorr Realty, LLC Lic# 751515 Multi-Million Dollar Producer Direct 210-355-3129

Fashion Days Mexico Edition RAICES Fashion Days Roots Edition became a unique event that celebrated Mexico's rich cultural heritage over three days filled with fashion, art, and tradition. Produced by Lic. Blanca Salinas, the event brought together more than 15 renowned designers who, through their collections, paid homage to the roots of Mexican fashion, with a special focus on the traditions and cultural richness of the state of Querétaro. Each designer presented collections that honored the ancestral customs of the region's indigenous communities, blending haute couture with Querétaro's artisanal heritage. Over the three days, the runway shows and exhibitions showcased how designers interpreted indigenous heritage through their garments, using traditional materials such as cotton, pita thread, and embroidery techniques passed down through generations. Vibrant colors, geometric patterns, and handmade garments stood out as symbols of the deep connection between contemporary fashion and ancestral roots. In addition to the runway shows, Fashion Days offered conferences and exhibitions where attendees could learn about the creative processes behind each collection, as well as the importance of preserving the textile traditions of indigenous communities. This event was not only focused on fashion but also served as a platform to promote sustainability and respect for indigenous cultures, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cultural identity through fashion. Fashion Days was a vibrant celebration of creativity, tradition, and modernity, bringing together designers, artists, and audiences in an event that transcended the runway to become a tribute to the cultural richness of Querétaro and its indigenous communities. An important element of Fashion Days Roots Edition was the Lele Doll. This handcrafted doll, traditionally made of wood, fabric, and colorful details, is considered an emblem of the cultural identity of the Otomí and Hñähñü peoples of the region. In this edition, designers sought to pay tribute to the Lele Doll, not only as a traditional toy but also as a powerful symbol of Querétaro's cultural richness and Mexican fashion. Over three days of runway shows, exhibitions, and conferences, Fashion Days presented collections that explored and reinterpreted the legacy of the Lele Doll, highlighting its importance as a symbol of resistance, tradition, and femininity. The garments featured details like hand-embroidery, vibrant colors, and patterns that evoked the traditional dress of the indigenous communities of Querétaro, blended with haute couture techniques. Each design told a story inspired by the elements that define the essence of the Lele Doll: its connection to the land, feminine identity, and the preservation of ancestral customs. Fashion Days thus became a platform to highlight the importance of the Lele Doll, not only as a piece of popular art but as a symbol of cultural resistance, whose influence transcends fashion and plays a key role in reinforcing the identity and history of the indigenous peoples of Querétaro. Through this tribute, the event aimed to promote the preservation of these traditions and honor the creativity and craftsmanship that remain alive in Mexican fashion. The opening of Fashion Days Roots Edition paid tribute to designer María Luisa de Chávez, awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for her tireless work and legacy in the fashion
world. The "Fortaleza" runway, which brought together the talent of designer Galo Bertín with the creative hands of Querétaro artisans, was the heart of the event, showcasing a fusion of contemporary design and local tradition. Designers from different parts of Mexico, such as Monserrat Messeguer, Daniela Bustos Maya, and the CEDIM collective, dazzled the stage with each of their creations. The event took place in a historic space more than 2,500 years old, underscoring the importance of our roots and their influence on fashion, making this edition a visual and cultural tribute to the richness of Querétaro. The second day of Fashion Days Roots was marked by vibrant inspiration from Querétaro. This day paid tribute to the richness of its traditions, art, and colorful mestizo culture that defines Querétaro's identity. Designers immersed themselves in the most iconic elements of the region, where pre-Hispanic history meets colonial influence, creating a palette of colors and shapes that evoke the soul of Querétaro. Handmade embroidery, ancestral weaving techniques, and silver jewelry, which are so representative of indigenous and mestizo peoples, intertwined with modern cuts and designs, giving life to a unique proposal that transcends time. Long skirts, inspired by the huipiles of Otomí and Querétaro women, were combined with modern silhouettes and leather details, a material characteristic of the region. At the same time, long-sleeved traditional dresses, symbols of the mountainous region, were reinterpreted with light, flowing fabrics, perfect for the city’s climate. A key element of the night was the inspiration and inclusion of corn. The color palette of the runway show was based on vibrant tones, including red, white, and animal print patterns, which mixed with the greens and blues of Querétaro's mountains and valleys, creating a runway show that not only celebrated fashion but also the vibrant spirit of this land. Through each garment, designers captured not only the essence of Querétaro but also the pride of a people who, with their deep roots, continue to create and transform contemporary fashion. This day proved that fashion is not only a way of dressing, but a means of telling stories, preserving traditions, and honoring the cultures that define us. Designers included @despinosajoyero, @anahuacqro, @carmenrion, @downtoxjabelle_, and @josefina_byverosolis. The third day of Fashion Days was a standout event, bringing together renowned international designers who, although from different parts of the world, brought innovative proposals that merged the latest global trends with the unique essence of Mexican fashion. This day was marked by the globalization of fashion, where each designer presented collections that not only followed the main trends in the international circuit but also incorporated elements representative of Mexico's rich culture. Throughout the day, the runway shows were filled with surprises, with garments reflecting a perfect blend of contemporary and traditional. International designers drew inspiration from Mexico's roots, using indigenous fabrics such as rebozo and cotton and adapting them to modern silhouettes. Vibrant colors, embroidery, and artisanal techniques merged with global influences, creating a fascinating contrast between the local and the international. Each collection featured details that evoked the cultural richness of Mexico, from geometric patterns inspired by pre-Hispanic art to floral prints reminiscent of the country’s textile traditions. Despite their international focus, the designers remained true to the spirit of Mexico, paying tribute to its traditions through innovation and avant-garde design. The fusion of the latest trends with authentic elements of Mexican fashion turned the event into a space where global fashion met Mexican cultural identity.
The third day of Fashion Days proved how fashion can be a bridge between cultures, celebrating both global trends and the unique richness of Mexican traditions. The mix of the modern and the traditional made it clear that Mexican roots hold an important place on the international fashion stage. Designers included Lydia Lavin, Lourdes Toriello, Mora Ruiz, Vero Solis, and Agatha Ruiz De La Prada. In conclusion, Fashion Days became a memorable event that celebrated the cultural richness of Mexico through fashion. Over three days, the event brought together national and international designers who, from different perspectives, honored Mexico's roots, especially the traditions of Querétaro and its indigenous peoples. The runway shows were a true fusion of the modern and the ancestral, where embroidery, textiles, and artisanal techniques were combined with the most innovative global trends. The event not only provided a platform to showcase haute couture collections but also promoted the preservation of textile traditions and respect for Mexican culture. Fashion Days highlighted the importance of fashion as a means of preserving cultural identity, while also serving as a meeting point between tradition and international innovation. In summary, Fashion Days reaffirmed Mexico's fundamental role in the global fashion scene, demonstrating that fashion can be a bridge between cultures, celebrating diversity and creativity without losing sight of its roots.

Strong Foundation: Why High-Quality Preschool Should Be Every Parent’s Priority Think of the Empire State Building. It’s a towering 102 floors tall, but it wouldn’t stand without a solid foundation. Your child’s early years are like that foundation—critical to supporting the “building” of their future. From school readiness to lifelong success, the strength of this foundation will shape everything to come.Your child spends approximately 8-10 hours a day in care outside the home during their most important years. These hours are not just about keeping them safe—they are an opportunity to build that foundation. “90% of the brain develops by age 5, and we are preparing your children for the next 95,” says early childhood educator Sarit Kapur, Founder of Excelled Montessori Plus, an accredited early childhood program. A carefully tailored educational experience can make all the difference in the developmental journey of young learners.
Why High-Quality Preschool is Essential A high-quality preschool goes beyond basic care. It’s where your child develops the tools to thrive in school and life. Intentional Learning High-quality preschools use structured curriculums designed for young learners. Activities focus on building early skills in language, math, and problem-solving while keeping learning fun and engaging. Expert Teachers Trained educators know how to guide children through critical milestones, nurture their curiosity, and help them build emotional and social skills. Stimulating Environments Safe, creative spaces with carefully selected materials encourage exploration, teamwork, and independence—essential elements for confident learners.
A Foundation for Lifelong Success Children who attend high-quality preschools gain more than just a head start in kindergarten—they build skills that last a lifetime. Studies show these children are: Better prepared academically and socially for school. More likely to succeed in relationships and careers. Less likely to face challenges such as dropping out of school or unemployment.
Building Strong Foundations Without a strong foundation, even the tallest building can crumble. The same is true for your child. While convenience and cost are important, choosing a preschool that prioritizes your child’s growth and development is worth the investment. At ExcellED, we view early childhood as the foundation for everything to come. Just like the Empire State Building needed a strong base to reach 102 floors, your child needs a high-quality preschool to grow into their full potential. Your child’s future is a skyscraper in the making. By choosing ExcellED, you’re giving your child the tools and support to build a life as strong and inspiring as the tallest skyscraper. ExcellED Montessori Plus has 5 daycare/preschool locations: Stone Oak, Medical Center, NW Military Hwy near Wurzbach Pkwy, and in Fair Oaks Ranch/Boerne.
