Sam Cook This is where we leave you PPP3 Presentation

Personal interests - Independent magazines - Architectural photography - Family - Walking - Netflix - Flat mates

Where it started East Norfolk Sixth Form College - Graphic communications - Photography - English Language

Transition period First year - Learning to live by my self - Meeting new people - Home sickness - Growing in confidence - Appreciation for good design, but lack of knowledge to put it in to practice.

At the deep end - straight from A level - Daunting - A struggle - Treated it like a fondation course

(I was pretty bad at documenting my work)

Second chances Second year - Finding my strengths as a designer - No grade chasing - Positive mental attitude - Presentation skills - Difficulty with face to face communication

Third time lucky Third year - The importance of research - COP3 outcomes - Studio visits - Branding and editorial design

Strengths Over the three years I have improved in many ways. - Working collaboratively - Layout and grid structure - Design for print - Stock considerations

Room for improvements These are not weaknesses, but skills i need to improve on. - Design for screen - Time management - Using resources - Blogging

Confidence Building One of the main things I have learnt since the start of uni is be confident in my ability. I have also learnt the importance of confidence when approaching professionals and studios. I think the lack of confidence and conviction has slightly held me back.

Making connections COP3 connections - Alec Dudson - Becky Palfrey - Unit editions Studio visits - The Archipelago - B&W studios - Design project - The Cafeteria

Looking ahead - Possible 6 month internship. - Working in a small studio - Travelling - Possibly starting up a magazine - End goal to start up a studio

Branding evolution My personal branding has changed every year. This year I have taken more time to consider who I am as a designer and what I need my branding to say about me. Rather than just creating something that is ‘stylish’. A running theme throughout the designs is that i have always produced a publication which i plan to do for my new branding.
