Collaboration - Adam Garbutt Brief - Create the end of year show publication for Art and Design Interdisciplinary 2015 ready for print. The title and theme of the book is Precipice. The course is in it’s final year, the theme of precipice represents the ending of the course and new beginnings of the students. Concept - The concept behind the year book is exploring the word precipice through the form of publication. The students have been on many workshops and field trips to explore the precipice and what it means to their individual practice.

Research -
For the initail stages of the research process the focus was on book layouts and covers. As the content hadn’t been collated at the start of this process the research was general and looked in to different formats and colours of publication design. As the process developed a more analytical and conceptual research method was put in to place.

Development -
The design development stange was a long one. A variety of different conver variations were made, all exploring the theme of Precipice, and seperation. The grid layout put in place was a clear and simple grid, The stripped back grid is functional and allows the students work to be displayed in a neat orderly fashion. The header type face used was GT Sectra. This type face is very angular and structure which lends it’s self to the word precipice well.

Development -
The final publication utilises a range of materials, colours and text formats in order to create the connotations of Precipice. The layouts are clear and concise with true grain inserts providing the relevant information.
