All classes are held in the San Anselmo Gymnastics Center at the Isabel Cook Community Center,1000 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. San Anselmo, CA.

TUMBLING

TODDLER TUMBLING

YOUTH TUMBLING & GYMNASTICS

Instructor: Juan Olsen Sanchez

Instructor: Juan Olsen Sanchez

Our toddler tumbling classes combine instructor–initiated activities with children’s freedom of exploration. There is circle time with songs and rhymes and plenty of time for free play, which helps the young child to develop large motor skills through age–appropriate activities. Parent participation is required for all Toddler Tumbling classes.

Juan, a former nationally ranked gymnast, brings a great deal of expertise to his classes, and his gentle teaching style is wonderful for children. Skills will be taught on the trampoline, balance beam and bars as well as floor workouts on the mats.

Robson after care is a place where nature exploration, art, science, sports and games are offered each week. We have created a fun and safe environment for children to choose activities of interest and share them with new friends. Our primary focus is helping children to play, learn and grow in a safe and fun community where they feel heard and excited to explore.

YOUTH

ROBSON AFTER–CARE

HOW WE WORK: Robson After Care (RAC) operates out of the Robson-Harrington House located at 237 Crescent Road. Participants from Wade Thomas Elementary School are picked up on campus by our staff and walked up to the house. Participants from all other schools are welcome but must be dropped off at Robson. We are open until 5:45pm daily and follow the Ross Valley School District calendar. RAC staff will offer extended care for Kindergarten early-release or super minimum days. WHAT WE DO: Having nearly three acres of Robson-Harrington property at our disposal, we like to stay outdoors whenever weather permits. Playing kickball, tag, nature exploration and imagination games are just some of the activities our kids love - but art projects and books are always on hand for those looking for more quiet activities. REGISTRATION: Please email Veronica Hillard at vhillard@townofsananselmo.org to inquire about availability and request a registration packet for Fall 2022. ENRICHMENT CAMPS – ARTS & SCIENCE

ROSS VALLEY ART CAMP

This popular camp is back again! Have a blast this summer creating art with a fun and familiar team of credentialed art teachers. Ross Valley Art teachers Jasmine Gavam (Brookside/Hidden Valley), Nicole Diosdado (Manor/Wade Thomas), and Emma Beauchamp (White Hill) will teach a one–week art camp that utilizes the beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces on the fabulous White Hill campus. Art activities will include painting & drawing, printmaking, fiber arts, mixed media, and sculpture. A recess and food break will be scheduled every day outdoors. Students should bring their own snacks & water bottle, and wear a face mask and sunscreen. Kids will have a wonderful art experience and will be grouped by grade/age in small classes. For Covid safety protocols students will stay in one class group the entire day. During online sign–up please request friends to be grouped together prior to camp starting. Campers should wear clothing they don’t mind getting grubby while doing artwork. In addition to the camp enrollment fee, please budget for a $30 Art Camp materials fee (which will be paid to the art teachers on the first day of camp). Don’t wait! This camp sells out every year and space is very limited.

CHESS WIZARDS CAMP Join us this summer for tons of challenging chess lessons, exciting games, and cool prizes. You’ll improve your chess skills, meet new friends, and work out your most powerful muscle – your brain! Our camps include fun team chess games (like bughouse), recess time (of course), snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. As much as we love chess and champion it’s cognitive and character benefits, we don’t believe it is asking an 8–year old to stay inside for 3 or 6 hours and just play chess during their vacation. So we’ve developed an interactive day–camp format that includes all kinds of activities to keep kids both physically and mentally engaged during their time with us. We include all the materials necessary for your child to participate, but full day kids should bring a lunch. Each camper receives a T–shirt, trophy, and puzzle folder. Unleash your brain power and spend part of your vacation with Chess Wizards!

Weeks 3 & 6

CIT PROGRAM–DANCE & SEWING CAMPS! Each Counselor in Training (CIT). is tasked with helping the campers learn new skills, make new friends, and have a safe, enjoyable time at camp. CITs will work alongside the camp teachers to help prepare and then participate in all camp activities. A few CIT spots will be available each week listed below. A graduate in electrical engineering from MIT, she was a XBox Design Engineer at Microsoft before she decided to specialize in teaching. Ellie has run an engineering class for girls, taught a robotics program in Berkeley High School, and ran a Fab Lab for K-12 students in New Orleans before moving to Marin County with her family. When she is not teaching, she enjoys walking with her young son and exploring the trails around San Geronimo Valley. STAFF PROFILE: SERIANNA LEYLAND You’ve probably seen her at the service desk, in the Fiction stacks, or even in a virtual program but how well do you know our wonderful Adult Services Librarian, Serianna? Serianna grew up in Marin County and cannot remember her life without books: “I was one of those kids staying up late reading with a flashlight on under the blankets after my parents had fallen asleep.” This behavior aggravated her dad but amused her mom. She continued her love of reading with a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature and Writing and decided to pursue her Masters in Library and Information Sciences in 2011. “I’ve always wanted to work with books and literature but discovered through my degree that libraries offer so much more. I love connecting readers to new books and authors but my favorite part of being a librarian is introducing patrons to our digital resources, especially eBooks and eAudiobooks. I love seeing the excitement in people’s eyes once they know how to download books from Libby and Hoopla.” Serianna has launched many services in her seven years at the San Anselmo Public Library, including Hoopla and Kanopy for San Anselmo residents, an annual Summer Reading Program for adults, and a daytime book group for seniors. At the start of the pandemic, she recorded numerous book talks for the San Anselmo Public Library’s YouTube channel and began scheduling virtual programs for the community, including Art Talks, lectures, concerts, and drawing classes. Once the library opened for curbside, she loved seeing how many steps her tracker counted in a day while she ran around the library, fulfilling patron requests. She created the popular pandemic service, Book Bundles, which continues today. “There was something magical about curbside service but I’m thrilled the library is open again for patrons to come to browse, read, and work.” When not reading or at the library, Serianna enjoys hiking with her family, playing board games and video games, and trying out new baking recipes in her kitchen.

We are LOVING the book bundles. We just moved to San Anselmo during the pandemic and the book bundle offering is my one of my favorite things about this place so far. It’s so amazing to have a HUGE bunch of new books. It’s like Christmas for the kids, they are so excited when we get a new batch of books.

Do you love to read? Are you looking for personalized reading recommendations? Request a book bundle! Use the QR code to fill out the form or pick up a paper copy next time you’re in the library. A librarian will put together a bundle of books for you to browse, read, and enjoy. Book Bundles have been one of our most popular services since the pandemic, with over 550 created to date – but don’t take our word for it! Take a look at some of the comments from our patrons:
