Mission
San Gabriel Mission High School, an IB World School, rooted in the Dominican and Claretian traditions, empowers young women to pursue education marked by respect, motivation, depth, character, and integrity throughout their lives.
Principal Marielle Sallo At San Gabriel Mission High School, our young women are empowered intellectually, physically, and spiritually each day. Each student is an integral part of the Mission family and our community and traditions only continue to grow here at home.In a student centered classroom, our young women gain knowledge to make connections in the world around and beyond them. By using a vigorous curriculum with access to Honors, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate programs, students learn to take risks and challenge the status quo. Formed in Dominican and Claretian traditions, we honor the faith and charisms of our founding orders. We serve, learn, pray, and become a better version of ourselves. Students find their passion through academics, student life, service and community to then discover a meaningful purpose in this world. As a woman leader, I am honored to watch the growth of our young women each and everyday in all aspects of their life.
Now is the time to be at Mission and I am blessed to be a part of it!
College Preparatory At Mission, we offer a college preparatory curriculum based on the requirements set by the UC and Cal State systems. Our unique curriculum offers students the opportunity to customize their coursework with Honors, Advanced Placement, or International Baccalaureate classes. Mission girls are constantly challenging themselves not only with academic rigor but in leadership opportunities with class boards, athletics, or student clubs. Our block scheduling allows girls to gain time management skills and the focus needed to master their subjects.
IB World School Program The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is designed for juniors and seniors who seek an intellectually stimulating path of study. IBDP students are placed in a cohort and participate in a series of vigorous courses. Diploma Programme (DP) candidates must complete courses in six specific areas:
• Language A • Language B • Individuals and Societies • Mathematics • Sciences • The Arts In addition, DP candidates must complete a service requirement and epistemology course, write a 4,000 word extended essay, and take the IBDP exams. Interested students can submit an application to the IBDP department at the end of their sophomore year.
College Guidance College counseling is provided to students at all grade levels. Once a month, students meet in small advisement groups with teachers or counselors to discuss the college admissions process. We provide SAT and ACT test prep resources, assistance with filling out college applications, connect students with scholarships, and inform students about summer enrichment opportunities. College representatives and Mission alumni also visit the school to speak with students about college admissions. Our goal is that each Mission girl is “college ready once she graduates and enters a university.
State-of-the-Art Technology State-of-the-ArtScience and Technology In a constantly changing world, Mission understands the need to prepare our students to use technology as stewards of digital citizenship. Therefore, our students and teachers utilize many technological tools in an effort to provide a true 21st century classroom.
• 1:1 iPad Program • SMART Boards in all classrooms • Google Apps for Education (GAFE) • Wireless access throughout campus • Computer Lab • Media Room
Every teacher Emma had her sophomore year was inspiring, from Ms. Bueno and Ms. Meyer to Ms. Sallo. Each of these teachers is a subject matter expert (many have received double majors and are furthering their studies!) and as women, they are each incredible role models, showing our girls that there truly is no limit to what can be done with discipline and grace in equal measure. –The Frattasio Family
Catholic Identity At Mission, we celebrate our faith and Dominican values through daily prayer, a four year Religion curriculum, our Service Learning Program, campus ministry club, monthly masses and prayer services. In addition, our Retreat Program focuses on helping students grow in their spiritual life. As a class, Students participate in four retreats throughout their time at Mission.
Faith here at Mission has allowed me to embrace my spirituality and understand the different ways in which I can become a woman of God.Through the Catholic teachings at the school I have been able to grow as a student as well as a well rounded human being through the power of prayer. The Lord's presence is felt strongly at Mission with the guidance of our teachers and the loving sisterhood. It is such a blessing to be part of a spiritual community where students can discover their Catholic identity as well as grow in their relationship with God. –Gabrielle Morales, 2016

Extra-Curricular At Mission, our girls take center stage!
Building motivated young women is integral to our Mission culture. Our students are encouraged and have the opportunity to join many clubs and organizations that offer them the skills and experience of being a true leader on campus and in the community. Students can join one of our 11 clubs or participate in organizations like ASB or Student Government.
A true Pioneer takes pride in their work on and off the field. We hold the “scholar” in scholar-athlete to the highest standards, which is demonstrated through the success of each of our sports. • Volleyball • Cross Country • Competition Cheer • Basketball • Soccer • Softball • Track and Field San Gabriel Mission High Schools' athletic program is one of the best in the Horizon League. Through the athletic program I have learned to be a leader and a hard worker. In volleyball we are trained to never let the ball drop and never give up. In my classes I tell myself that I am to always do my best and continue to push forward even when things get rough. Being in the athletic program has helped me grow and be the person I am today. –Samantha Sosa, 2017
My Mission is ...
College Acceptances
Before Mission, I was a timid, unsure, young woman looking towards her future endeavors and I did not know it at the time, but I needed awakening. Everyone finds something about themselves at Mission and I have realized that I am not shy. Being at Mission shatters the fear of rejection among peers and allows you to begin and continue your journey to selfdiscovery in a welcoming and collaborative environment, which is what makes the school so vibrant. Without each person’s special radiance, the school wouldn’t have its signature vivid ambiance.
