A Dream Hat and Mouse Joey
Illustration Sanja Drakulić
Once upon a time there was a tiny mouse Joey, dreaming up to ten dreams a night.
One day while eating cheese, a hat fell on his head.
Once in the darkness of the hat, he encountered another dream.
Joey strolls around, the hat on his head, greeting some refined people. Off he goes to the opera, where they let him jump the queue.
A piece of cheese on the chair and a girlie mouse gazing at him!
Joey sits down, but alas, he has to take his hat off. “Not nice”, says a man, “can’t see for your hat!”
Скини шешир, је неко, “Take it off,“ yelledвикнуо another, двапута ти реко! “Iнемој won’tда sayсам it twice!“ Поцрвени Јова сав од стида, и Joey went red in the face поче шеширић да скида. and started taking his hat off.
Once he took it off, merrymaking was gone and he woke up in the dark. Hastily he puts his hat on to peek inside once more.
The opera was then almost over, and instead of men, cats were meowing. Joey was scared stiff, and could barely breathe, when a tomcat shoved him, poked and nervously sniffed.
“Listen kiddo,“ said the angry cat, “I can’t see a thing! You’d better take your hat off, or else you’ll regret!“ “Please kitty, don’t! You don’t understand a thing, I need to wear it on my head. If I take it off for you, my dreams are gone.“
In that moment a girlie mouse appeared, uttering the words behind the cat: “Let Joey go, or I’ll call the dog, he would know what to do with you!“ The words startled the cat, and all in fear he loudly moaned: “I’ll be good and just purr, I was on my way to grab a bite.“
The cat was off, so girlie mouse and our Joey shared the same dream hat.
Suddenly and from afar grandpa could be heard coming. Takes his hat and gently speaks to Joey: “You dream again, and it’s still not dark!“
Joey said sorry, but to no avail, he fell asleep right away.
Our Joey drowsed off to continue where he took off.
