Earthly Infusion The best retailers have always adapted to reflect current lifestyle trends. Having peace of mind is now a trend in itself and research proves that being around plants and breathing in fresh air promotes mental health. Bringing plants from the outdoors to the indoors is what more and more retail stores have started doing and now the introduction of living elements and green-fingered displays are indicative of a wider social and commercial interest in the environment. Earthly infusion in their VM & Display Show range of flower pots bursting with greenery or mannequins’ heads being replaced with plants

Neon Explosion
“Customer experience is the future of how physical retailers will generate revenue. Experiences wont just sell products. Experiances will be the products” -
Light always seeks attention. Add some neon colours to it and we are playing with the future of how VM looks like for A/W 17. It all started with ‘lit’ neon sneakers in 2015. The bottom of the sneakers would light up and these were seen being worn by all age groups. In parks, dance classes and even clubs as it quickly grabbed attention because of moving light. Similarly, retail has been implimenting these lights all over in-store and display and soon this neon trend will be saturated but retailers are to use it to its absolute potentional . The potential for this VM trend seeks potentional of explosion as maybe this could include the brands political or social opinions through slogans which could be lit up on displays guiding todays youth to focus on whats important through brand message. Neon explosion gets the message out there louder

Text art is a perennial trend, and often become some of a fair’s most Instagrammed works. After the March art fairs, which were filled with politically charged art inspired by current events, galleries decorate Frieze New York with more positive messages. Text art is used by not just retailers but also retraunters and business’. A variety of type is experimented on the glass wall. The glass wall creates a visual deapth into inside of the retail and adds to the feel of the ambounces before entering the shop. More retailers are using this to help bridge the reach between visual message and consumer. This has now become one of the main route to consumer.

Gothic Checks
Checks and plaid patterns are hardly a new concept for men's and women's commercial collections, but A/W 17/18 brands take these familiar designs and employ them in their multiples in a haphazard patchwork effect. Contrasting colours and a play on scale highlight the coming together of different panels, in a look already seen on the season's catwalks. Breathing a new lease of life into tried-andtested casual staples such as the shirt and cut-and-sew top, classic checks are awarded a more directional finish, and a renewed appeal at the younger end of the market for both genders. Tying in with the current taste for all things 1990s, checked shirts display a distinct grunge aesthetic. Dark, muted colour combinations range from simple and authentic, patchwork shirt has punk attitude, and proves how well these checks work together, as a design feature, or for merchandising in-store.

Sports Fan
In line with an ongoing interest in the 1990s as an aesthetic reference point, the sports labels synonymous with the era remain the key drivers in this bold prints and graphics story for A/W 17/18. A look already adopted at street level, branding is the most important feature here, the bolder and more brash the better. For the ultimate throwback look brands combine large logos with bold colour-blocking. While primary colours paired with ‘im so chilli’ & ‘conffection’ are the most popular. The strong presence of classic sports brands at Seek underpins a continuing retro sports theme, as names such as Fila, Champion and Russell Athletic mine their archives to reinvent iconic pieces that feel relevant again today. Iconic football teams like Manchester United and Chelsea are still in the running as mainstream consumer still opts for the classic football jersey. Trend follows all the way through to countries like like india, where the prominent sport is cricket and yet again, cricket jerseys are famous as ever with fans.

Embroidary
Embroidary is nothing new to the textile and fashion industry, however, the impact of the Gucci effect can still be felt commercially as brands continue to look to embroidery to update items. New for A/W 17/18, large-scale blooms are a focal point, as stylised floral motifs appear to grow from side and central placements, or form part of striking symmetrical designs on basic jersey pieces, knitwear and outerwear. Feeling less bohemian, and more a celebration of botanical beauty, instead of appearing as through trailing, floral motifs make a greater impact when positioned individually, or grouped together as if a bouquet.

Stick it, State It
minimalism is hard to find in menswear graphics, with influence of the current global political climate bringing out the rebel in us all. from diy punk scrawls, to extreme bleach effects, looks are wild, messy and bold. patches are still in abundance, while pared-back varsity graphics are one of the few quieter looks seen this season - WGSN (2017)
Slogans grow from snappy, sassy statements to long paragraphs voicing messages of change. Crude felt-tip doodles and fake magazine covers evoke teen girls’ bedrooms, but promote more meaningful ideas of self-acceptance and expression. From the hand-drawn DIY look to cartoon patches and clean typography, combine this eclectic mix of graphics with a pop palette. To refresh the prevailing pop patch look, tap into the philosophy of today’s youth with these emboldened graphics. Consumer behavious these days point to a very outspoken and opinionated target about the world. Most consumers seem to be promoting things like Human rights, equality and world peace. Stick it, state it promotes the use of iron- on patches with a snappy slogan or statements DIY that are displayed on a self chosen item of clothing. This helps voice the consumer’s opinions which makes the brands that use this technique more personl, popular and infleuntial.

Puffa Me Up
Picking up pace at a more directional level, yet indicative of ongoing interest in sports styling commercially, padded silhouettes stand out as the go-to for A/W 17/18 outerwear. Plays on scale immediately elevate styles, as do fabric finishes such as velvet and silk, alongside nylon. Chic neutrals push this item into high-end territory, while colour-block panels deliver a nostalgic vision of 1980s activewear. ‘Fabric interest and hidden features provide the key updates for this season’s puffa jackets at Seek. Super-lightweight downproof nylons yet, Unsurprisingly given the current focus on garment versatility and layered looks, lightweight liner jackets are becoming increasingly relevant as standalone items for a modular wardrobe. Styling options range from military and outdoors at Suit’ - WGSN Insider

The Yeezy Effect
A key bottomweight for A/W 17/18, a modern easy-to-wear trouser style takes its cue from both classic tailoring and elevated jogger silhouettes. A relaxed tapered fit and lightweight drape make formal pleating details appear quite casual, while the cropped length works well with statement sneakers and contemporary streetwear separates when merchandising in-store This ‘yeezy’ to wear outfit has been trending since Yeezus has been trending. One and only Kanye West ups his style game with the launch of his Yeezy apparel brand and there on follows a cult of consumers who depend of the weightless yeezy effect outfit.
