Bali is one of the 34 provinces of the Republic of Indonesia and has become the prime holiday destination in Indonesia as well as one of the major holiday destinations for international tourists. The island is located in the westernmost end of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east, and divided into 9 districts (8 regencies and 1 municipality) with population around four million people.

Denpasar is the capital and most populous city of Bali. The vast majority of the Balinese people are Hindu so there are a significant number of temples on the island. Temple or Pura in Indonesian is the place for worship, and the biggest, most important and holiest temple in Bali is the Mother Temple of Besakih. Bali has a tropical climate all year with average temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and two different seasons. Dry season
is between May and September with high humidity and wet season is between October and April with low humidity. From June to August, the weather is usually nice, breezy and cool. The main language is Indonesia, however being one of the most favourite holiday destinations in the world, not only many people speak English but also other foreign languages such as French, Japanese, Chinese, Germany.

T
he dance of Joged Bumbung is originated from the small village of Kalopaksa in Buleleng area. After a full exhausting day of plowing, the farmer would gather together and dance to the sound of bamboo instrument. This helps them to keep socially in touch one another, and also serves as entertainment activity in between hard day’s work. Nowadays, Joged Bumbung is performed by a young woman, called pengibing, who would dance around in the circle of spectators
and occasionally invite them (mostly male) to dance as her partner. This dance has become so popular for certain reasons; but mainly because of the participative aspect where audiences can actually engage and perform with the dancers. There is a misconception that Joged Bumbung is an erotic dance done only to attract men and gain profit from there, but it is actually just a form of social act to gather and entertain masses of people.

AIRASIA LAUNCH ADVANCED ‘AUTO-BAG’ SYSTEM IN INDONESIA To further show their commitment in innovation for passengers comfort in Indonesia, AirAsia recently launched the Auto-Bag self service system. Ngurah Rai International Airport gets the honor to be the first airport in the country to be integrated with this system. Auto-Bag lets the passengers to handover their baggages without the help from staff/officer, just by showing their boarding pass. This safe and effective system is supported by the self-service kiosk where the passengers can print their luggage tag themselves. Launched on June 28th 2016 at International Check In area of Ngurah Rai International Airport, the efficiency and simplicity of this system was simulated, along with the positive impact of the counter capacity during packed check-in moment.
WATERBOM BALI HELD ASIA FLOW TOUR 2016 FLOWBOARD TOURNAMENT In conjunction with FLOW Tour, Waterbom Bali became a grand venue to host Asia Flow Tour 2016 for the first time in Indonesia. This flowboarding tournament aims to introduce the sport especially to youth and teenagers who have fondness in extreme sport such as skateboarding, surfing or wakeboarding. Asia Flow Tour 2016 provided several classes to compete; pro division, national division and open division. Full entertainment was also available for all audiences and participants during the event, including live DJ performances and Balinese dance as a representative of Indonesian rich culture.

FIGHT FAIR "Lombok has a major tribe called Sasak people which make up 85% of the population of the island, this tribe has one unique ‘extreme fight’ ritual called Presean."
A
traditional ceremony done in the name of peace and prosperity, the rule of Presean is pretty simple; two men battle against each other led by a judge called ‘pakembar sedi’, the fighters-called ‘pepadu’ face each other armed with only a thick rattan cane (pejalin) and shield made from buffalo skin (ende).
The fight begins as the rhythmic sound of traditional instruments explodes in the background, as two combatants try their best to land hard blows at each other’s body for 5 straight rounds. Tight, legs and groin area are forbidden to hit, but others, including head, are fine. The fight could only be stopped when one of the fighters bleeds. It doesn’t have to be a fatal wound; just a trickle of blood is enough to make the pakembar sedi ends a round. Although seems brutal, Presean is never meant to spark hatred, as each combatant respects his opponent, laugh together during the fight, and give each other a warm, manly hug after the battle.

ocated in Badung district, few kilometers from Tabanan, Mengwi is a wonderful place to visit during your holiday. Here lies some of Bali’s bestkept natural vistas and remnants from glorious distant past. One of Mengwi’s must-visit spot among others is Pura Taman Ayun. Overtaking a vast landscape of garden and water features, this royal temple built by the king of Mengwi himself is considered as

one of the most sacred places of worship on the island. Its serene location creates such calm atmosphere, throughout the main areas from the outer bridge above broad, fish-filled water canals, highly ornamented outer gate, fountains, and more gardens inside. Another area worth-visiting in Mengwi district vicinity is Sangeh. Spread across 6 hectares of land, it is a forest mainly formed from large nutmeg trees that can grow up to 40 meter above the ground. It is a sanctuary for long-tailed macaques, a species of monkey that is commonly found on the island of Bali. The primates are already used to meet with human from the constant interaction since the forest is opened as a tourism destination couple of decades ago. But still, be extra-cautious as they are extremely attracted to shiny and small objects. It is best to keep your precious accessories and unused gadget in your bags, and keep very close attention to the one that you want to use. After get immersed in Mengwi’s natural grace and ancient wonders, you can also get more knowledge first-hand of Bali’s famous ritual by visiting Museum Ogoh-Ogoh.

Established back in 2012 by I Ketut Nuanda, this museum is dedicated to keep and preserve some of the best Ogoh-Ogoh statues made by various ‘banjar’ local communities to celebrate the day of Nyepi. At first, Ogoh-Ogoh symbolized the demons inhabiting the island, thus they're mostly made resembling the evil creature from Balinese folklore, but nowadays, they become the medium for young Balinese artist to express their ideas and creativity. At this museum, you can see some of the best Ogoh-Ogoh ever made in all shapes, sizes and colors. Entering Mengwi feels like warping back to the days where Bali was still an unknown, exotic wonder of destination for the world. In between the sincerity of green paddy fields, you can gaze upon magnificent traditional architecture standing gallantly past the test of time.

ALING ALING Playground for (local) kids and highly recommended to trekking lovers, Aling Aling Waterfall is located in Sambangan village, which is a pioneer of environment protection and has the motto of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”. It scales approximately 35 meters in height and it’s the highest of the 7 waterfalls (!) you can visit in this area. Aling Aling’s pool water is as clear as crystal, refreshing and offers a great opportunity to cool down a little during those sticky days, as it has the most waterfall pools around. The fresh crystal clear water from the mountains and surrounding green sceneries will make you feel as if you're blending effortlessly to the nature.

GITGIT Situated on Singaraja regency, Gitgit waterfalls have been considered as one of the most beautiful tourist destinations on the island. It is actually a group of waterfalls in different heights and shapes. The most reckoned one in Gitgit is the twin waterfall, two adjoining falls that form small pond of crystal clear water, very refreshing to see, with green trees surrounding the area add to the already serene atmosphere.

KANTO LAMPO Located at Beng village at Gianyar sub-district, only 12 kilometres away from Ubud Palace, Kanto Lampo is the most recent nature wonders found in an area not far from the city of Denpasar. The flat stones have been there for many years but only after the big prayer last year that the water starts to fall here. If you have to go through a long road out of nowhere to get to the waterfalls in Buleleng, this one is located just behind the town of Gianyar. The name Kanto Lampo is taken from the local name of the trees that grow a round orange fruit around the area.

TEGENUNGAN This is the closest one from the rural city of Denpasar and also the only one that is not located on the mountain area. You can visit this waterfall by going to Tegenungan Kemenuh village in Gianyar district, around 16 km from Denpasar. It is a rather short waterfall in term of height (around 4 feet tall) but the water is very clean and refreshing for swimming around.

BANYUMALA Located in Wanagiri village, northern Bali, Banyumala is a twin waterfall in the midst of pristine jungle offering rugged natural beauty and distinctive atmosphere for a perfect tranquil getaway. To reach Banyumala waterfall is not a really easy feat, but don’t let that discourage you at all. The sight of twin waterfalls flowing freely between steep cascading rocks, forming a pool of pond below is more than enough to keep you there for a rejuvenating while. Lush green leaves grows freely covering majority of the rock crevice creating a unique sight as if the water flows through a giant tree.
MUNDUK Lies on the altitude of about 800 meters above sea level, Munduk village offers refreshing bliss such as clean mountain air. There are a few waterfalls which you can enjoy to its fullest here and if you want to do further exercise, you can easily walk up the hill side from this waterfall and get down on the other side of the hilly village and walk through the higher one. The walk takes quite a bit of energy, but will let you gaze upon the great view of northern Bali coastal line.

SEKUMPUL Away from civilization and into unspoiled area, Sekumpul waterfall is a perfect place to find solace and tranquility away from the crowd of the city. A couple of years ago, this hidden gems of Bali’s nature were still an insider’s tip but due to the unique and fantastic location they have become more and more attractive over the last couple of years. Surrounded by lush green rainforest that has an amazing fauna and flora plus fresh water pools for swimming, Sekumpul is a must visit place for nature enthusiasts and avid travelers alike.
APUAN Apuan waterfall, for example, it is actually a series of waterfalls called Tibumana and Pengibul located near the village of Apuan. The local reckon them as ‘Apuan waterfall’ and will give you direction based on that name. The view of this waterfall is just as taken straight from an award-winning nature portrait or painting, and you can dip yourself in the clear water to freshen up your body and mind after a long exhausting walk.

uilt around 11th century, Pura Kehen is once the state temple of Bangli kingdom, where all major spiritual and religious rituals are regularly commenced. It is a grand venue surrounded by calm scenery of green forest. The name ‘kehen’ means household or fireplace and symbolizes the fire god, Brahmen who protects the temple. To reach the main entrance of Pura Kehen, one must climb step of stairs (38 to be precise). The gate itself is beautifully decorated, with statues of wayangfigures taken from the popular Ramayana story guarding both of its rear sides. Upon entering, feel free to walk on the temple gorgeous courtyard, which
is overshadowed by a huge banyan tree. Passing through the second courtyard on which the walls are covered with old Chinese porcelain, you enter the jeroan; the most holy courtyard of a Balinese temple. Here lays 11-roofed meru towers dedicated to the God that protects the temple. On the Northern part of this courtyard, a stone carved lotus throne gallantly sits. This structure with magnificent details is dedicated to the three Hindu gods Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. The architecture and carvings of Pura Kehen proves how deeply Balinese people worship and respect their deities. It is a beautiful site dedicated for the god, goddess, and visitors alike.
