The library has a number of resources to help us set aside time to prepare our hearts for Easter. Lenten devotionals and works centered on the cross deepen our understanding of the personal meaning of Easter and increase our gratitude as we anticipate the joy of celebrating Easter Sunday. Lenten devotionals include The Good of Giving Up; Discovering the Freedom of Lent; The Passionate Journey; and Lent for Everyone. Works focusing on the cross include On a Hill too Far Away, Putting the Cross Back into the Center of Our Lives; The Heart of the Cross; Jesus, the Final Days, What Really Happened; The Angels were Silent; and Resurrection. All are welcome to check out the library between services in The Gathering Place.

VOLUNTEERS AND SUPPORT NEEDED Eagles Wings of Grace is currently serving women in Tucson who have recently been released from prison, are coming out of rehab, or are just in need of clothing for interviews. As a volunteer, you will be able to share a friendly smile, an encouraging comment, and experience Christian love. You will be able to help women select a small wardrobe that will allow them to regain self-respect, search for a job, or participate in a training program. In addition, this organization is one of our official giving communities and qualifies for the 501(c)(3) Arizona Tax Credit for Charities. This means that the amount you donate can be subtracted from your state taxes on a dollar to dollar basis. The donation limits are $400 per single filer and $800 for joint filers. If you have not already made a tax credit donation for 2018 or 2019 we would appreciate your support. If interested and want to hear more about the organization please contact, April Ritchie, at 225–9602 chileteach55@yahoo.com, or visit eagleswingsofgrace.org.

Water is the basis of life. Water represents everlasting life in the Bible. “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” (Isaiah 12:3) “No one can enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the spirit.” (John 3:5) “To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.” (Revelation 21:6) Our bodies are 70% water and we should strive to drink eight or more glasses of clean water daily for health. Sometimes people drink fluids other than water that are laden with calories for pleasure and social interaction either alone or at restaurants and parties. These sugar sweetened beverages can cause extra weight gain and lead to diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney disease. They should be avoided or reduced and replaced with pure water for fluid intake. In Tucson’s hot and dry climate drinking enough water is vital to maintain proper brain, heart and kidney function, healthy skin and complexion, safe internal body temperatures, bowel regulation, and balanced electrolytes. Contact Louise Doran or William Wilkinson for further information. NIH: Water, Hydration and Health, Nutr. Rev. 2010 Aug: 68(8): 439-458.

I GAVE ONLINE!

The response to online giving has been positive, but some folks have indicated discomfort in passing the plate during the Worship offering without having something to contribute. We have made available “I Gave Online!” cards that are located in the friendship pads and pews. Feel free to drop one in the offering plate as it’s passed if you like.

Each day focuses on a different Bible point: Monday: When life is unfair...God is good! Nahum 1:7 Tuesday: When life is scary…God is good! Psalm 23:4 Wednesday: When life changes...God is good! Psalm 106:1 Thursday: When life is sad...God is good! Psalm 34:18 Friday: When life is good...God is good! Nehemiah 4:14

VBS VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION

Volunteer for the greatest week of the year! Volunteer registration is online this year too! Get ready to help kids see that God is Good. We need station leaders and crew leaders for all age groups! Check out the volunteer information starting March 31 at sapctucson.org/vbs.

ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT

The annual St. Andrew’s Easter Egg Hunt will take place between services on Palm Sunday, April 14. Kids ages 2 through 3rd grade are invited to find eggs. Kids in 4th and 5th grade are invited to be helpers during the hunt. Bring your own baskets or bags for this fun event! We will meet in the front of the Sanctuary on the SW Campus on April 14 at 10:15 am. The hunt will start at 10:20 am. Parents (or other adult) need to accompany their children during the Easter Egg Hunt.

EASTER EGG STUFFING

Come help stuff Easter eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday, April 11 in Room F from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. No need to bring anything. Let Shelly know if you are coming to help at sakins@sapctuson.org or by calling the church office at 297-7201.

EGGS AND TREATS NEEDED FOR EGG HUNT

I want candy!! Well, we need candy for the Easter Egg Hunt on Palm Sunday. Treats can be individually wrapped candy, small toys, and stickers that we can use to fill the eggs. Please no chocolate candy (it melts), candy with nuts (for food allergies), or lollipops (because they don’t fit inside the eggs). Pre stuffed eggs (from the store) are fine. We also need plastic Easter eggs that we can fill with these treats! There’s no need to fill the eggs! Please bring your donations to the church office or to the Sunday School office. Donations need to be made by April 7. If you have any questions, please contact Shelly at 297-7201 or sakins@sapctucson.org.

TEACHER APPRECIATION

We love our Sunday School teachers! And we know you do too! We invite you and your child to help celebrate their teacher on May 5 during Teacher Appreciation Sunday. Need an idea of what to do? A hand-made card or picture would mean so much. If you’d like to treat your child’s teacher with a small gift card, Shelly and Heather have a list of all their favorite places and things. Of course our teachers don’t teach for the gifts... they do it because they love Jesus and they love kids. Let’s be sure they know how much we appreciate all they do! After all, we would not be able to have such a vibrant Sunday School without them.

St. Andrew’s Women’s Book Club will meet on Tuesday, April 23, at 7:00 pm to discuss Secret Sister by Diane Chamberlain. Please join us even if you have not read the book as we discuss this New York Times bestselling mystery from Diane Chamberlain. Contact Katrina Lantz for more information at klantz@comcast.net.

The Faith Walk book for April is Everything Happens for a Reason by Kate Bowler. In the book, this divinity professor and young mother talks about the joy and pain of living after a diagnosis of colon cancer. She talks about the prosperity gospel, a creed that sees fortune as a blessing from God and misfortune as a mark of God’s disapproval. Her view of this changed greatly. Her book is frank and funny, dark and wise. We will meet April 25 in the church library at 4:00 pm to discuss the book.
