Drink more: You should try to drink at least 2 litres of water a day. Our bodies are made up of 60% water. Water helps to eliminate toxins from the body, keeps joints lubricated, and regulates body temperature as well as to keep body cells hydrated. Too often we mistake thirst for hunger so be sure to keep your water intake up this summer.
Joke of the week: How do you communicate in the forest? With Moss-Code haha! Oopsy Daisy: Correction that the Canowindra Bowls raised $1,150 for Breast Cancer Research Toned Tummy Tips: 80:20 is the ratio to eating right and exercising. A toned tummy is all about fuelling your body with the right nutrients. You need to focus on getting your body fat % down. High interval training will help this and try to incorporate strength training into your workout. To strengthen your abdominal muscles lock them on when doing all weight activities for best results. Boost up your Berry intake: Have a cup of fresh berries a day to load up on your antioxidants which help prevent damage to tissue and reduce age related illnesses.

White Ribbon Community March
The pool is looking great ahead of the family fun day that will be held on this Saturday.
Family Fun Day
Head down to the Canowindra Swimming Pool this Saturday for a family fun day fete. The action kicks off at 11am and will continue throughout the day until 4pm. Escape the heat and enjoy what will be a fun community day. There will be so much to see and do for all ages so come see what’s on offer. There will be little larrikins face painting available on the day to ensure all of the kids get in character. Come challenge your friends in the giant connect 4 or take them on the inflatable pool roller. The entry fee for the day will be just $2. There will be a jumping castle and a slushy machine as well as a sausage sizzle provided by the Canowindra Swimming Club. Be sure to bring those dancing moves, as there will be a DJ from 1-3pm so you can get your boogie on. Prefer to sit back and watch, not a problem. Alkinetic danc-
ers will be performing from 3-3.30pm, so be sure to come see some very talented young dancers. The Canowindra Public School will be hosting a stall with helium balloons available as well as some fake tattoos, so be sure to go and support them. Charlotte Foster organiser of the event says, “The day is all for the community to have a fun day out. We hope that it is a success and we plan on organising more events like this for the future.” With a sunny weekend forecast come have an enjoyable day out with the family before the Christmas rush starts. The family fun day event on Saturday is from 11am to 4pm. The pool opening hours are from 10am-6pm from Monday to Sunday however the pool is also open from 6am-8am Monday, Wednesday and Friday for morning swimmers.
This Friday the 25th November there will be a White Ribbon March conducted down Gaskill Street at 2pm, the road will be closed off to traffic. The White Ribbon campaign is a means to speak out and act to stop violence against women, and to safely and effectively challenge the attitudes and behaviours of a minority of men who use or condone violence against women. All members of the community are invited to come take the walk to raise awareness about violence against women and children, and to promote healthy respectful relationships. All participants are asked to assemble at the corner of Ryall Street and Gaskill Street, next to the Junction Hotel at 1.50pm. The March will commence at 2pm down Gaskill Street, finishing at Memorial Park. At 2.10pm there will be a musical performance by Canowindra High School students, a welcome by MC Councillor Anthony Durkin and a Welcome to Country. At 2.15pm Canowindra High School students will be making a speech on the LoveBites campaign. At 2.20pm there will be a speech from the Mayor followed by the Blessing Bags Group presentation at 2.30pm. 2.35pm there will be a speech by the White Ribbon Ambassador Barry Merritt. At 2.45pm there will be a musical performance by Canowindra High School Students. 2.50pm will be the end of the March finishing off with an ice-block donated by Lawrence’s IGA. Times may vary slightly on the day during the event. White Ribbon Australia is part of a global movement to end men’s violence against women. The organisations focus is to make women’s safety a mans issue too. Come take a stand in the community this Friday.

The team at Hassad George Delaney, Graeham Smyth, Brad Howard, Rob Atkinson, Billy Pagett and Will Pattinson all showing off their mo’s for Movember.
Mo Bros At Hassad Australia
This month is Movember, so that means the moustaches are coming out! For centuries facial hair and manliness have gone hand in hand. Moustaches signify male dominance and power communicating. However, Movember is redefining this by taking a century old symbol of male power and asking us to approach it in a different way and the way men see themselves. Movember is changing men’s health worldwide as it encourages men to talk about their health and that’s exactly what local business Hassad Australia are doing. The team of six blokes are speaking up for men’s health by all growing, or attempting to grow a moustache. After losing a workmate to mental health last year Manager Rob Atkinson says, “It’s all about bringing men’s health to the floor and creating a culture where you can talk about it.” Hassad Australia are participating in the event for their second year now with this
years focus all about raising awareness. “If someone can get a great laugh out of my mo and that raises awareness for Men’s mental health, then that’s great!” said Rob. The blokes all had to have a clean-shaven face at the start of November to ensure nobody got a head start. “There is definitely a rivalry amongst us but more for who can even grow one,” Rob laughed. As with any strong rivalry between mates there are some strict rules with shaping up the mo early and then shaving it off at the end of the month. It is great to see Hassad Australia participating in a global initiative to take a stand for men’s health and creating a culture in the community and workplace where you can more openly talk about men’s health. The Movember foundation is helping men to live happier, healthier and longer lives.

Essential Energy is reminding truck drivers and machinery operators to take extra care around the electricity network following a number of incidents with tipper trucks contacting power lines across the State. Contact with power lines can cause fatal injury and inconvenience to local communities if a power outage occurs. Take some time to identify the area and assess any risks that may arise. Simple steps can be made to ensure potential electrical hazards are minimised. Essential Energy advises operators to monitor weather conditions throughout the day as power lines can sag in extreme heat, sway in windy conditions and be difficult to see at dawn or dusk. Essential Energy has created the motto LAND to help you remember how to stay safe around power lines especially coming into the harvest season. Look up and live. Overhead powerlines should be identified and marked at ground level. Essential Energy can provide electrical network maps showing the location of overhead powerlines on your property. Always be aware. Before accessing paddocks and work areas, check the location and condition of poles and wires. Conditions can change without notice and heat can affect powerline height. Need to know. Know the height of farm machinery in raised and lowered positions so you can maintain safe clearance distances from powerlines. Powerlines can be as low as 5.5m so ALWAYS lower machinery fully before moving off. Don’t disembark. If your machinery comes into contact with overhead powerlines, stay in the vehicle, if safe to do so, and call Essential Energy immediately on 13 20 80.

With a falling AUD, this week’s reasonably large offering had little effect on the market, with the NRI closing 28 cents dearer at 1359c/kg. Commencing the week in isolation on Tuesday, Melbourne posted a modest 4 cent to set the tone for the week ahead. Sydney and Fremantle joined Melbourne on Wednesday and all three centres opened strongly and continued to strengthen as the sale progressed. Thursday continued the same trend (although Melbourne softened slightly towards its close). During the series most of the merino micron range enjoyed rises of between 20 and 50 cents, with the most pressure on selected pockets in the finer microns. In stark contrast to recent sales it was the lesser types which experienced the greatest gains as buyers attempted to find cheaper alternatives in a rapidly rising market. The skirting market enjoyed gains of 30-50 cents, while crossbreds had mixed results, losing further ground in the 25/26 range whilst recovering in the broader microns. The oddment market didn’t get left behind finishing the week 20 cents dearer.
With the paddocks slowly drying out tractors, trucks and headers have finally been able to get onto the paddocks to start the 2016 harvest. When talking about the yield of this years crops Manager Rob Atkinson from Hassad Australia said, “It’s a hard one this year because of the very wet winter. There will be some water logged areas where there will be no yield at all but hopefully the higher ground will compensate for that, however we hope we will still get 2 tonne per hectare. Hassad Australia will be harvesting 1,000 hectares of canola, 500 hectares of monola and 2,000 hectares of wheat. Hassad have six full time staff and one part time staff in admin. Throughout the harvest period they will be using contract harvesters and local carriers to help. “Canola prices seem to be good so far this year but the wheat prices are down. Hassad will be transporting their grain to Manildra and the manola has already been contracted by MSM Milling,” Rob said. The harvesting of the canola will be well under way in 10 days at Hassad Australia with just about all canola cut and windrowed. At this stage harvest doesn’t look like it will be finished before Christmas as the wheat will still need a few more hot days to ripen.

YOUR Wealth Matters 3 Decisions Will Change Your Financial Future
Scott Barrett member for National Party with winner of the Orange by-election Philip Donato member for Shooters, Fishers and Farming Party
Shooters, Fishers And Farmers Party Are In!
The community of the Orange by-election has sent a message loud and clear to the Baird Government as the National Party end their 69 years in the position. Philip Donato, candidate for Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party, has now been elected Member for Orange by a margin of 50 votes. Donato won the seat despite receiving only 23 per cent of first preference votes. This is the first time in the party’s 21 year history that the party has an elected Member of Parliament to the Lower House of any jurisdiction After a drawn out election result due to a recount, the final result was announced Monday afternoon with Philip Donato humbled with the results. “At the start of this election campaign I came with one premise: that the electorate of Orange deserves better. The result we have shows that it is what people wanted here,” said Philip Donato.
Scott Barrett Nationals candidate congratulated Donato on becoming the Member of Orange and thanked him for his upstanding respectful way in which he conducting himself during the campaign. Barrett says, “I have secured a significant number of commitments from the NSW government and I will continue to fight for these commitments and ensure they will be honoured. A clear message was sent from the people of the Central West at this by-election, and it’s a message that must be heeded.” There has been much speculation on the election results with many believing the change in the seat came due to the backlash from the attempted shutdown of the greyhound industry and reaction to the council amalgamations. The coming weeks will see more details come as Philip Donato sets up his office in Orange and gathers his team together.

Decision 1: Snap out of it. You could be heading in the wrong direction. You might think you’re comfortable now but it’s important to ensure that your financial future isn’t heading for a financial cliff. Chances are that if you keep doing what you’ve been doing you’ll end up broke later in life. You have to snap out of it. You have to decide that doing what everyone else is doing isn’t going to get the job done in the long term. And life is too long to live any of it being poor! Decision 2: Get smart about money. Financial education is your ticket to financial freedom. Managing your money and turning it into more isn’t rocket science. The problem is sorting through all the dodgy ‘information’ out there. Rather than rely on smooth talking salespeople trying to sell you a financial product (that will see your money make them rich), start with the best investment possible… invest in your financial education. At Wealth Train, we will teach you what you need to know with advice that we are proud to say is completely independent and unbiased. And the best part, you can do it at your own pace, in your own time. Decision 3: Take action. NOW. Procrastination is usually the biggest hurdle to overcome. You didn’t really need me to tell you that you need to make changes, did you? However, if you’re like most people, you’re just not sure where to start. Once you’re on board with Wealth Train, we will eliminate your indecision. Armed with world class information you will make confident, informed decisions that will build and protect your wealth. 1, 2, 3… Let’s get started.

Portables such as iPads, Tablets & phones can be connected to a cloud based backup such as “Dropbox”, “iCloud”, “Google Drive” or “OneDrive” so as to avoid losing photographs and important documents in the event your device breaks, or is lost/stolen. With computers you can do likewise but also backup to a portable hard disk or USB memory key and keep it separate from your PC. This will protect your valuable information.
Christmas Trees
As we approach the festive season, one thing that families think about is “what will we do for a Christmas tree?” I’ve always favoured a natural, growing Christmas tree for our family. As a youngster growing up on a cattle property on the north coast of NSW we’d always head down to the banks of the Clarence River and find a small sheoak (Casuarina) for our Christmas tree. Out west, I’d head out with the kids and find a white cypress pine (Callitris) growing on the roadside. Both of these Australian native trees looked good when decorated, and gave off a lovely fresh, natural smell when placed in a bucket or pot in the house. These days, I get requests in the nursery from families as we head towards Christmas-“what can we get growing in a pot that we can use inside as a Christmas tree for a few years and then maybe plant out in the garden?” My two favourites that meet these requirements are the Wollemi pine and the dwarf Alberta spruce. The Wollemi pine (Wollemia nobilis) is a critically endangered Australian native conifer-discovered in a canyon in the Blue Mountains in the mid 1990’s. They can be found in some nurseries and can be grown in pots for a couple of years where they will reach up to about 2m high. I have one growing really well in our garden in a spot protected from hot, drying winds-it’s about 8m high now and looks great when we wind some xmas lights though it. The dwarf Alberta spruce (Picea glauca conica) is a beautiful, dense, conical conifer with blue/green foliage. It is hardy and fairly slow growing, with a mature size of about 2-3m high and 1m wide-so it could be kept in a pot outside and shifted inside for Christmas for many years. Cricket In Canowindra
The Sydney Thunder Cricket Bus visited St Edwards Primary School on Tuesday to promote Sydney Thunder and Cricket in the Central West. Mathew Tabbernor the Sydney Thunder Bus Development Manager in the Central West said, “We have been travelling all across NSW to encourage kids to become involved with the Thunder Nation.” An interactive video presentation was put on for the students with many prizes to be won. The students were very enthusiastic and their knowledge of cricket was outstanding. After the presentation students got to perfect their bowling skills as they aimed into the nets. Merryn Pereira Project Manager of Sydney Thunder said, “It’s all about getting people to love cricket in the region and so far we have had a lot of interest.” Principal of St Edwards, Ken McNamara said, “This day is about encouraging cricket in the town especially after our Year 6 boys competed in the Southern T20 Blast in Canberra, coming away with a credible 7th out of 16.” Sydney Thunder will be coming to Wade
Park in Orange on Sunday the 11th of December to play Hong Kong in the KFC Big Bash League Practice Match. There will be two games on the day, the first starting at 12.30pm then the second at 4pm. Many cricket stars will be making a possible appearance at the event such as Shane Watson, Mike Hussy and Pat Cummins. Tickets for the event can be purchased at Ticketek or at the gate on the day.
