CHILDREN’S BEHAVIORAL AWARENESS CENTER

The Children’s Behavioral Awareness Center is a retreat for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This space aims to execute therapy with the help of the architectural environmental and corresponding tactile experiences. By using an unconventional approach with environmental psychological methods, paying attention to child anthropometrics/ergonomics and neuro-architecture, the space will act as a tool for the kids to help them cope with their condition. The facility has a play friendly curriculum and offers a naturalistic surrounding in a rather stressful and rigid urban setting to help as a coping system.

MAD (museum of arts and design) is a creative space that recognizes craftmanship and focuses on the materials and techniques associated with craft disciplines. The design, acting as an extension of MAD, allows interaction to take place between visitors and artists. This creation of awareness for the process behind art allows for a different perspective. It seeks to open up a new kind of relationship between people and art. Not only do the galleries showcase its pieces but it does so in a way that the display mediums become art as well. Therefore, the viewers look at art through art, and at the same time become art themselves. It’s a way to change the meaning of art and challenges how it can be perceived.

This panel system creates “frames” of different points of views of visitors moving through the space and becoming a part of the museum experience.

idea 2

This type of partition involves the use of translucent fabric panels installed on a wheel rail mechanism that creates a “disappearing effect” or a “distortion effect”, and so changing the perception of the art and its original/ intended meaning. It can be used as changeable, movable and even as temporary panels.

The exhibition comprises of spaces that raise the awareness of how society and media percieves women’s body standards. The intent of this exhibition is to showcase the lack of inclusivity in fashion brands because of limited clothing sizes and the false images of women portrayed by the media. Visitors are given a chance to expose themselves with the harsh realities of body shaming, as well as elements that will teach and remind them to appreciate and be more accepting of their own body image and of those around them through curated interactive art installations and video screenings. By showcasing pieces that exhibit the progress of society in the fashion industry in being more inclusive and accepting, as well as procurring positive affirmations, the aim is to bring hope and allow the visitors to leave the exhibit feeling good about themselves.

IAB BOOKSHOP

The objective was to come up with an alternative design for the IAB Bookshop, which was present during the Engage Dhaka International Architecture Conference (IAB) in 2015. The main purpose was to redesign a temporary (pop up) bookshop that would better facilitate the visitors and guests of that conference as well as reflect the architectural aspect of the entire event. The design or this bookshop is based on the deconstruction and modification of rectangular strips, where each strip has been bent in different ways to be used for a specific function, such as; a shelf, bench, counter, table and even a light fixture.

NYU SCHOOL OF PHOTOGRAPHY + GRAPHIC DESIGN

3.5 months duration

Photography and graphic design both have two things in common; the use of pixels and the art of composition. For the design of NYU’s department of photography and graphic design, I’ve taken the concept of pixels and composition. Each individual pixel has a purpose and expresses a fraction of a whole image. So when they come together, they create a complete image with an entirely different meaning. This makes pixels multifunctional. I’ve taken this idea of multifunctionality and expressed that throughout the various furniture and other interior design elements that I’ve designed for this university. The goal of the design is similar to the goal of a graphic layout, to provide an attractive and comprehensible environment for learning.

properly, no matter what they represent. For my design, chose to create a School of Photography and Graphic Design. This institution is an artistic platform that allows individuals from all different backgrounds to come together, share their ideas and create amazing content that will be able to reach the thoughts and hearts of people. The school offers a range of unique learning techniques that actively involves students in the creative process. Not only does the curriculum develop skills and teach basic knowledge on the subject of photography and graphic design, such as composition and editing software, there are also courses that teach students how to be readily engaged in the work they are producing. These courses include interactive studios with professional lighting equipment to give students the full immersive studio experience, professional computer classrooms for designing, editing and post processing needs, as well as exhibition areas to showcase finished products and make them accessible to the public. Some of the other courses include; printing & publishing, documentary, art history, color theory and advertising.

Composition is done to achieve balance and a sense of order that is both appealing and comprehensible. The concept for my design follows the inspiration of pixels and composition. tried to incorporate the visual characteristics of pixels into the furniture designed and the artwork chose to place on the walls. applied the concept of multi-functionality and developed it through the technique of designing furniture with multiple uses. created pieces that can be used in more than one way, similar to pixels, to cater to an even bigger application. For example, the sofa I designed for the library doubles as a bookshelf. Some of the seating and tables are modular and can be joined together to create a bigger seating area. Another example is the photography studio, which can not only be used as a professional space to take photos, but can also double as a classroom so students can come and view the process. Mesh is a significant material used in my design. chose this material because of its resemblance to the concept of pixels; it is a group of perforations joined together to create an interesting pattern and to provide partial transparency. The overall look of the furniture and the artwork, as well as the mesh panels, reflect various visual aspects of pixels. In order to support the concept of composition, based the layout of the rooms on the grid. The walls and furniture are assembled in grid patterns; even the wiring of the mesh panels are intertwined like grids. Everything is laid out to achieve a sense of bal ance, order, focus and hierarchy, just like the grid of a composition. BANGLADESH NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM

The concept for the Bangladesh Natural History Museum was to follow the process of preservation and conservation. I did this by keeping all the existing trees on the site and designed the museum surrounding it, as well as adding more vegetation. Visitors can enjoy this green space by walking along the designed pathways and take shelter underneath the custom shading devices, which were inspired by the trees on the site and were made to purposely blend in with the surrounding. The museum consists of four permanent galleries; Geology, Botany, Zoology, and the Anthropology gallery. The route of the museum is laid out according to the journey of time and development of nature starting and finishing in the same space. The loop starts from the Geology gallery and ends at the Anthropology gallery (from earth to man). The Bangladesh Natural History Museum was designed to mitigate the stereotypical idea of natural history museums and changing it into a place for people to prepare for the future with the help of the past.

In order to be a part of a world that grows instead of diminishes, the best way to go about it is to extract the inside out. The premise of this project was to create a flagship store for the e-commerce brand, Public Goods. The aim of this retail space is to better understand how we can nurture nature. By introducing sustainable practices and carrying out eco-friendly activities, it will not only help us better deal with our surroundings but will also aid to bring out the wellness from within ourselves, which is the main concept of this store. The same biodegradable and environmentally friendly materials from the packaging that is used for the products have been integrated into the materials of which they are displayed on.
