Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

As you may know, RASM is a local association that is part of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Complying with NAR’s Core Standards, our Associaiton supports and identifies NAR’s initiatives as the key to our combined success.

The REALTOR® organization, at all levels, has identified Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as a key strategic opportunity to be incorporated into REALTOR® Association strategic plans. Today, I wanted to share NAR’s strategic priorities related to DEI and how they will guide our Association moving forward. We hope that this will shed some light:

NAR’S DIVERSITY & INCLUSION COMMITMENT STATEMENT

The National Association of REALTORS® represents more than 1.5 million Realtors® in diverse communities across the country. NAR staff fosters a culture where diversity and inclusion are integrated into each of our five core values. Through inclusive collaboration and mutual respect for our colleagues, we focus on the principles that matter to the organization and drive how we engage each other to reach our common goals. We fully embrace perspectives from all walks of life - regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, national origin, socioeconomic status, political affiliation or any other qualities by which we may define ourselves. We commit to bringing out the best in ourselves, uncovering our hidden talents, and celebrating differences in our day-to-day interactions. These beliefs are essential as we serve our members who help fulfill the dream of home and property ownership in America.

Nar Dei Strategic Plan

In NAR’s Strategic Plan focused around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the following pillars have been outlined as strategic opportunities for success.

Strategic Opportunity: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are prioritized, built into our association structures and process, and measured consistent with other NAR strategic initiatives.

ƒ PILLAR: MEMBERSHIP

Strategic Opportunity: We have a diverse membership that is represented in our leadership, governance, and committee structures.

ƒ PILLAR: CULTURE

Strategic Opportunity: We have an inclusive association culture where everyone feels welcomed, connected, a sense of belonging, and realizes the NAR value proposition.

ƒ PILLAR: ADVOCACY

Strategic Opportunity: We promote public policy and provide programs to advance broader homeownership availability and affordability in all communities. We prioritize efforts to narrow homeownership gaps among demographic groups and promote strong enforcement of antidiscrimination laws in the housing market.

ƒ PILLAR: PARTNERS

Strategic Opportunity: We identify and develop a diversity of partnerships to better serve our members, the real estate industry, and communities.

ƒ PILLAR: COMMUNICATION & MARKETING MANAGEMENT

Strategic Opportunity: We deliver the D.E.I. message to the hearts and minds of our members, the real estate industry, and communities. •
