Global Times at NAR’s 2023 Legislative Sessions in Washington, DC.

The NAR 2023 REALTORS®

Legislative Meetings, which took place May 6 – 11, 2023, in Washington, DC, provided the venue for Realtors®, lawmakers, and industry leaders to have critical policy conversations. It was also an opportunity for participants to meet and discuss what’s happening in the NAR global world.

Cips Advisory Board

The CIPS Advisory Board Meeting was held on May 7, which included a great kickoff meeting with an overview of the CIPS program. There are currently 4,000 CIPS designees; of those designees, 940 are international, and 140 are members of RASM. New CIPS designees amounted to 295, with 75 of those being international. 87 CIPS courses were taught last year, with 24 of the courses being overseas. 27 NAR Partners are currently licensed to provide CIPS courses overseas. For the first time, NAR will be awarding a CIPS Excellence Award to nominated CIPS designees, including Association staff and certified CIPS Instructors. Nominations will open in June. Join the 140 esteemed RASM members who have already obtained the prestigious CIPS designation.

Nar Global Alliances Advisory Board

The NAR Global Alliances Advisory Board was held on May 7. This meeting began with an important regional update from the five NAR Regional Coordinators who discussed events and happenings in their regions: Alina Aeby (Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa), Ileana Bogaert (South America), Mark Kitabashi (Asia/Pacific), David McCoy (North/Central America and the Caribbean) and Hanne Sagalowsky (Western Europe). The C5+CCIM Global Summit will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, September 28-30, 2023. Registration is now open at www. C5summit.realestate

Nar Global Business And Alliances Committee

The NAR Global Business and Alliances Committee was held on May 8 and discussed the various initiatives of NAR Global this year, with the primary being the establishment of a REALTOR® Assistance Program for Ukraine through a charitable foundation. Dr. Freda Pempe also discussed Ghana as a Case Study for the Potential for Real Estate Opportunities in the African Continent, a discussion that was very well received.

Nar Global Business Councils Forum

The NAR Global Business Councils Forum was held on May 9. This is an important meeting for Association Staff and Global Business Councils to attend as NAR discusses the resources and the opportunities available so that Global Business Councils may flourish and obtain recognition with NAR’s Global Achievement Program. Andrea Clements, the Canadian Embassy MinisterCounselor, gave a speech titled “A Conversation with the Canadian Embassy” to help us better understand the current real estate situation in Canada, especially with regard to the recent ban on foreigners purchasing property in Canada to help alleviate the housing shortage for Canadian citizens. NAR is now offering FREE .realtor websites to Realtors® (free for the 1st year, then $39.95 thereafter) to help Realtors® build their brand and presence by connecting to the REALTOR® brand.

Cips Networking Reception

Last but not least, the CIPS Networking Reception was held on May 8 at the Washington, DC Convention Center and gave new and old CIPS Designees the opportunity to connect and socialize. A fabulous time for our NAR Global Family! •
