„Garderoby” zostały stworzone w latach 2022 i 2023 po rozpoczęciu masowej agresji Federacji Rosyjskiej przeciwko Ukrainie. To świadectwo rzeczywistości współczesnej, wypełnionej brakiem i pustką, w której znalazło się tysiące Ukraińców i ich domów. To nie do końca historia o rzeczach czy odzieży, ale o tym, co te przedmioty mogą nam opowiedzieć o ludziach. Brak osoby na obrazach jest istotną cechą prac z tej serii. Serie „Pokoje” to prace inspirowane wnętrzami Gdańska: sklepami, muzeami, kościołami i prywatnymi rezydencjami. Dramatyczny duch miasta, na tle jego unikalnej historii, a także wnętrza wypełnione przedmiotami, opowiadającymi historię ludzi, którzy są nieobecni na dziełach, ale obecni jako niewidoczni uczestnicy ciągłego spektaklu ruchu i życia.
„Wardrobes” series were created in 2022 and 2023 after the onset of the large-scale aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. This is a unique artistic testimony to the contemporary reality filled with absence and emptiness in which thousands of Ukrainians and their homes have found themselves. It’s not exactly a story about things or clothing but about what these items can tell us about people. The absence of a person in the images is an important feature of the works in this series. „Rooms” is a series of works inspired by the interiors of Gdańsk: its shops, museums, churches, and private residences. The city’s dramatic spirit, against the backdrop of its complex and unique history, and interiors filled with objects, tell the story of the people who are absent from the work but are present as invisible participants in the continuous spectacle of movement and life.

„Pewnego razu miałem okazję zobaczyć odzież przywiezioną z jednego z ukraińskich miast, gdzie toczyły się walki. Sukienki, dżinsy, koszule - wszystko rozdarte od odłamków „gradów”. Całkiem nowa, z metkami, odzież wyglądała, jakby nigdy nie miała szansy na życie, jak marzenia, które straciły swój sens i użyteczność. To zmieniło i dodało kolejny wymiar znaczenia do mojej perspektywy artystycznej w rozmowie o pustych wnętrzach, o których wcześniej mówiłem w swoich pracach.” - S.S. „Once, I laid my eyes on clothing brought from one of the Ukrainian cities where the fighting is ongoing. Dresses, jeans, shirts, all torn by the shards of ‚grads.’ Brand new, still with tags, the clothing looked as if it had never lived a life, like dreams that have lost their meaning and usefulness. This changed and added another layer of meaning to my artistic perspective in the conversation about empty interiors, which I had been talking about in my works before.” - S.S.

Serhiy Savchenko Urodzony w 1972 r. we Lwowie (Ukraina). Edukacja: 1989-1991 Lwowski Liceum Sztuk Dekoracyjnych i Stosowanych im. I. Trusha, Wydział metalu. 1992-1998 Lwowską Akademią Sztuk Pięknych. Wydział Szkła. Zajmuje się malarstwem, rysunkiem, fotografią, scenografią, wideo, animacją, rzeźbą uliczną, obiektem. Założyciel i dyrektor artystyczny Fundacji Savchenko w Gdańsku. Uczestnik wielu wystaw i rezydencji w świecie. Mieszka i pracuje we Lwowie i w Gdańsku. Born in Lviv, Ukraine. Education: 1989-1991 Lviv College of Decorative and Applied Arts named by I. Trush. Art metal department. 1992-1998 graduated from the Lviv Academy of Arts. Art glass department. Works in the field of painting, drawing, photography, video, animation, street sculpture, object. Participates in international residencies, workshops, and art events worldwide. Founder of the Savchenko Foundation in Gdańsk. Lives and works in Lviv and Gdańsk.
