The lush Barcelo Maya Beach Resort complex on the breathtaking Mayan Riviera is where dreams, indeed, do come true. Couples hoping for the perfect wedding or newlyweds celebrating their once-in-a-lifetime union can have it all at the five-star, all-inclusive Barceló Maya Beach. “Destination Weddings” have become a wonderful, intimate alternative to expensive weddings that often take a physical, financial and emotional toll on families before anyone walks down the aisle. The destination wedding enables a couple to choose a magnificent and idyllic setting and have the biggest day of their lives entirely their way – and choose to celebrate it by themselves or invite along family members and special friends. It’s hard to imagine a more ideal location for a Destination Wedding or honeymoon than the picturesque Barcelo Maya Beach Resort, which has three resorts and 5 hotels surrounded by lush vegetation and crystal clear turquoise water on a gorgeous and private 1.2 mile white sand beach. Located south of Cancun on the Yucatán Peninsula, close to famous archaeological sites from the ancient Mayan culture, history and beauty come together in this special part of the world. It offers access to a multitude of natural parks filled with exotic vegetation and a gloriously long coastline off of which lies the second largest coral reef in the world. The Barcelo Hotel company, headquartered in Spain, is well known for the excellence it provides guests in its nearly 300 hotel properties throughout North America, Europe and Africa. The Barceló Maya Beach Resort makes a commitment to attentive customer service, delectable cuisine and extensive amenities in its Mexico beach paradise. The three resorts – Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe, Barcelo Maya Colonial and Tropical, and Barcelo Maya Beach and Caribe Beach – offer affordably luxurious all-inclusive packages tailored to vacationers’ wishes. Guests have unlimited access around the clock to delicious international cuisine choices, and abundant drink selections – in the rooms, poolside or in more than 20 restaurants. Resorts offer 19 bars and clubs, nightly entertainment indoor airconditioned theater, nightlife choices are diverse and great times never more than short walk away. Since the ancient Mayans understood the idea of healing the soul through healing the body, guests can be rejuvenated at the Barcelo Spa, featuring the finest aromatherapy, reflexology, deep-tissue massage treatments and other unique beauty and pampering services that will restore energy and bring guests’ senses back into balance. Naturally, with a location on the finest 1.5 mile beaches in the world, recreational facilities and activities are only limited by the desires and stamina of the guests. For families with children, Barcelo has a Kids Club for ages 4-12, a waterpark playground, and an abundance of family-friendly activities to keep everyone entertained in their Mexico beach vacation. And that is why the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort is the perfect location for a Destination Wedding – it has something for everyone. Whether it’s an intimate ceremony for two, or an occasion to include close family and friends, a Barceló wedding will be the perfect combination of romance and luxury. Weddings can be planned on its pristine beaches, in the Gazebo or in the Chapel Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. • For a more informal affair, instead of the traditional wedding gown and tuxedos, consider more informal attire such as an IslandDestination-Wedding gown and linen jackets for the men. • Consider a mermaid-style gown, but only if you love the way it looks on you. What? No Cake? A growing trend in wedding cakes and dessert, is opting for dessert stations with a selection of sweet confections. Petit fours, chocolate fountains and mini-fruit tarts are becoming popular choices because of the variety available for guests. Another popular choice is the cupcake tower however, wedding cakes have been the standard for over 100 years, it might be sad to give up the traditions associated with them. But brides and grooms have found a way to have their cake and eat it too: get a small 6” cake to sit on the top of your cupcake tower. You can use this for the ceremonial cake cutting, and then freeze the rest for your 1-year anniversary. David Tutera, leading entertaining expert and host of TV’s “My Fair Wedding,” suggests serving two plated desserts at a table and alternating them, one for every other guest, to promote sharing and interaction! Best bet? Find a way to have your cake and eat it too. Mix and match ideas to come up with the perfect sweet ending to your special day.
