Rockets Fly at Gilwell Rocket Center Rockets filled the air Saturday afternoon as Wood Badge Course participants applied their communication and project planning skills and leveraged their diversity to build and launch their own patrol rockets.

The safety of the operation, and judging of the patrol rockets was performed by a group of Scienticians from the highly esteemed Gilwell Rocket Center.

The winner of the participant rocket contest was built by the Eagle Patrol, with their rocket flying an impressive 175 yards.

Patrol Updates Beaver

Success eluded the Commandant during the “mint” PL Zach “Commandant” challenge. “We’re all here because we’re not all there.” (taps head) Our first morning wake up at Camp Josepho. Rubbed the sleep from our eyes, we’re ready to go. The breakfast it was tasted. Down to Gilwell no time wasted. We shouted our yell, we sag out our song, we shared out our flag– it didn’t take long.

Then to the amphitheater to continue our morn.

The candy was thrown, the candy was tossed and at the end of it all, we had not lost.

Backpacking skills were next on our list. You had to light quick or it could be missed.

Eagle

We are the Mighty Eagles, Some tall and some Stout. We have many skills, like sewing, lashing, and being a good Scout. The Eagles are diverse in our life Story, Today we learned that Baden Powell

This morning foxes were storming during the Zulu Toss.

Foxes were not as coordinated as we thought we should be. As we moved on through the rest of the day we began to normalize and it showed in our Spirit Patrol responsibilities. Now that we are performing we have started to discuss our Patrol Project and how we want to proceed.

Scoutmaster Edgar then came to share about all kinds of inclusion of which we should be aware.

A patrol project was decided with the topic of “Family Involvement”. Elements will include role-play and narrative.

Next was learning about our forming team. The stages of development is just what I mean Communication and projects are what we did next. Then rockets were launched—it was fun at its best! We readied ourselves for our epic meal.

The rest of the night is yet to be revealed...
