The Brown County YMCA will offer fall break day camp Oct. 8-12 for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Brown County Schools students do not have school that week. Activities, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., will include group games, sports, indoor rock climbing, arts and crafts and swimming. Campers must bring a sack lunch, swimsuit and towel every day. The cost per day is $25 for the first child and $20 for each additional child; or per week is $95 for the first child and $75 for each additional child. Reduced lunch program rates are $16 per day for the first child and $12 for each additional child. Registration and payment are due by Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Cordry Sweetwater VFD open house
Revival
CORDRY SWEETWATER — Cordry Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Department, 101 Firehouse Road, will host an open house in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. The public is invited to visit the firehouse, meet some of the firefighter and EMT personnel and view the array of equipment used for fire and rescue. Free hot dogs and other snacks will be served. Kids will have the opportunity to spray water from the trucks’ hoses and sit inside and view all the fire trucks and ambulance. Residents of the conservancy district can get one free smoke detector per household while supplies last.
GNAW BONE — The Country Gospel Music Church, on State Road 46 East in Gnaw Bone, will host a revival featuring Pastor John Dunaway from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 4-6, starting at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
Pancake breakfast MORGANTOWN — The Morgantown Lions Club will host a pancake breakfast at the Morgantown Fire Station, 269 Highland St., from 7-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. The $5 meal includes sausage and drink with all-you-can-eat pancakes. The Morgantown Lions Club contributes to the community through donations to the senior citizens’ center, food pantry, Colonel Vawter Day, Memorial Day parade, Indian Creek dictionary project and peace poster contest for Indian Creek schools.
‘E-waste’ recycling Brown County Solid Waste Recycling Center, 176 Old State Road 46 at Greasy Creek Road, will accept electronics for disposal from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 6. This includes TVs, computers, monitors, radios, typewriters, speakers, telephones/phone systems, CD/DVD players, stereo systems, gaming systems, printers, copiers, PDAs and “anything that plugs in.” A $5 fee will be charged for each TV or monitor smaller than 40 inches, and $10 fee for each TV bigger than 40 inches. Nineveh Heritage Festival next weekend NINEVEH — The 6th Annual Nineveh Heritage Festival will be from 4-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the junction of Nineveh Road and County Road 775 South. “Homecoming” is the theme. Kelp’s Farm Fest GNAW BONE — Kelp’s Pumpkin Patch, 6473 State Road 46 East, will host Farm Fest Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7. Activities include kids’ games with prizes; hay rides; face painting; a petting zoo; ham and bean dinner with cornbread and desserts; pumpkin carving contest; sorghum mill demonstrations; antique tractor and farm machinery; and fall items for sale like pumpkins, mums, squash, Indian corn and gourds.
