Though the recent housing crisis might have debunked that myth once and for all, real estate is still widely considered a sound investment, one that many people wish they could afford to make. Those who have already invested in real estate know how difficult it can be to maintain a property much

“Then they know what kind of agent to look for,” Dave Hunter, a real estate agent with Century 21 Wilson and Associates in Greenfield, said. Don’t select an agent who sells $2 million homes to help you find a $120,000 home. Not all agents are created equal, but they all have the same goal in mind; help a customer buy or sell a home. He added that sticking with an agent, and not bouncing around between several, will help the seller or buyer in the process. “You’re always better off having your own agent,” Hunter said. “A good agent makes the process easy and fun.” Agents who work for large well-established companies with lots of agents do have some advantages. For a short move, it may be worthwhile to transport small goods by yourself, but larger items will likely require a professional mover. Who should you use? There are a number of factors to consider. Money is one issue: You'll want to spend as little as possible, but choosing only on the basis of cost can be a mistake. Movers must have the right equipment, training and experience to do a good job. A mover, no matter how large or small, should be able to provide recent references for homesellers with a similar volume of goods to transport. Get mover estimates in writing. Be aware that it's possible to get discounts through membership organizations and, sometimes, on the basis of your profession: Clergy, for example, sometimes qualify for a discount. Always confirm mover credentials. Movers should be licensed and bonded as required in your state, and employees should have workman’s comp insurance. Get a checklist. Moving is a big job and checklists can make it more organized and easier. Sale prices are a product of supply and demand. If you live in a community with an expanding job base, a growing population and a limited housing supply, it's likely that prices will rise.
