Come with friends, or meet new ones. Walk at your own pace. Suggested routes are two miles, but you can turn around at any point. Architectural Review Jim Cherry 612-805-5637 ARC@suncityorovalley.com Zoom meetings Second and Fourth Tue., 2 PM

We have many new homeowners in SCOV as well as those who have been here for years. Home values have been climbing, and while the overall market certainly has played a role, our propensity for keeping our properties upto-date is also a factor. The below summary of 2021 Architectural Review Committee submittals tells the story, and 2022 is looking to be just as productive. Submittal Type Number Received House Painting 178 Walls, Fences, and Gates 137 Windows & Doors 91 Flatwork 46 Roof (Lift & Relay) 44 Landscaping 31 Shades, Screens, Shutters 29 Driveway Coatings 21 Patio Covers 18 Room Additions 17 Porch/Patio Enclosures 16 Awnings 12 Gutters/Downspouts 12 Spa/Pool 10 Various Others 77 Total ARC and In-House Submittals: 739 (61.6 per month) We may live in an older development, but you almost wouldn’t notice it as our community is keeping up with the times.

Artisan Center Renovation Task Force See SCOV calendar for meeting dates, time and location

The Artisan Center Renovation Task Force (ACRTF) meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month as needed. The SCOV website will have current agendas and minutes of meetings. An updated version of “A Discussion of the Existing and Future Facility Requirements for the Artisan Clubs of SCOV” is available on the SCOV website.

Sun City Oro Valley Tipster, July 2022

Community Directory Chair Blythe Campbell 907-717-7546 scov.community.directory@gmail.com www.scovaz.com/members/services/directory

Did you know our directory is also on the SCOV website? Find your neighbors’ names, or all the people from your hometown, or whatever you seek. The incremental search box will display results as you type. Are you included in the directory? New homeowners are unlisted by default. To add or update your listing in the directory, the preferred method is to complete the online form “Change your directory listing.” Otherwise, you can fill out an orange card at the Welcome Center.

Consumer Referral - Vendor List Susanna Moran scovconsumerservices@gmail.com

The Vendor List is on the SCOV website. After logging in, go to Members > Member Services > Consumer Referral Vendor List. The Vendor List also may be viewed at the monitor’s desk at Catalina Vista during business hours (during Activity Center renovation). Please check the Vendor List often, as changes are made frequently. Vendors should email Susanna Moran to inquire about applying to be on the Vendor List.

Finance-Budget Quarterly Zoom meetings on Mondays. Check SCOV calendar for dates and times.

The Finance-Budget Committee (FBC) meetings are typically held quarterly. The FBC meeting practice is to allow FBC members and up to 15 residents to attend in person. All others may attend via Zoom. The SCOV website provides the Zoom link. When necessary, the FBC will meet more frequently (e.g., budget preparation, audit results and when information is requested by the Board of Directors). Find meeting dates, times, location and other information on the SCOV website under Members > Committees > Finance-Budget. Current financial information is also available on the website under Members > Financials.

Food and Beverage Chair Bob Landis landisrc@gmail.com Next meeting Thu., Sep. 1, 2 PM, WC3

Welcome to our new restaurant manager, Janet Blackwell. The committee looks forward to working with Janet on both continuing and new events in the restaurant. The committee will next meet September 1. An agenda for the meeting will be posted in late August.

Friends of the Library Co-Pres. Kari Dufur karidufur@gmail.com Co-Pres. Carol Tombre mctombre@yahoo.com Treas. and Membership Andrea Houston ahoust2@lsu.edu

Meet our new co-presidents, Kari and Carol. Kari says, “Our Library is fantastic, but it doesn’t happen without the dedication and work of volunteers. I wanted to support this valuable amenity by serving on the board. I spent my Saturdays as a child in our local library getting lost in learning and imagination. I love crime mysteries. Listening to Great Reads has opened my eyes to many other genres.” Carol says, “No matter where I lived, the library has always been special to me. I have supported libraries by serving on many boards to ensure the library continues to be available to everyone. Having our own excellent SCOV Library was at the top of my list as to why we chose this community.”
