Hannah. Each woman had her own personality and giftedness, yet each provides a portrait of strength in faith, character and hope. In a time when everyone did what was right in their own eyes, these women looked to the Lord and found their strength in Him. They show us every woman has a part to play in the kingdom of God.” Call Elaine if you have questions. Hope to see you in the fall.

Our club provides an opportunity for discussions of challenging ideas using the anthologies published by the Great Books Foundation. American poet Stephen Crane (1871-1900), mostly known for his short stories and highly acclaimed novel The Red Badge of Courage, also wrote excellent pithy poems, quotable as wisdom from a well-known sage. Poets of today might strive to copy his style, much as painter copy masters of the past. The first lines serve as titles in these examples: In the desert I saw a creature, naked, bestial, / Who, squatting upon the ground, Held his heart in his hands, / And ate of it. I said, “Is it good, friend?” / “It is bitter—bitter,” he answered; “But I like it / “Because it is bitter,“ / And because it is my heart.” A man said to the universe: “Sir, I exist!” / “However,” replied the universe,

Did you notice the unusual square illustration located next to the SCOV Technology Club heading? This is called a QR code. In reality, it is very similar to the two dimensional bar code you see on grocery items when you check out. In the case of a grocery store, the two-dimensional bar code tells the item scanner what the item is, and then the check-out scanner/computer will determine a cost from a behind-thescenes database. A QR code does much the same, but because it is a three-dimensional bar code, it can hold considerably more information. In the case of the SCOV Technology Club, if you scan the QR code (and if you have the correct software available in your computer, phone or iPad), it will automatically take your browser to the class schedule of the SCOV Technology Club. But it can do even more: QR codes can be used to share links in advertising, passwords and even confidential banking information. If you, your club or organization is interested in utilizing or learning more about these QR codes, look for the QR classes we will be offering later in the year.
