Come join us. We will perform Big Guns in the spring of 2022. Watch this space for more details in the near future. It’s been a long wait, things are starting to open up and we are looking for you. We welcome new and existing members to help with all things theatrical: sound, lighting, sets, costumes, readers, singers and dancers. Do you have an itch to try backstage work or performing? We are a friendly group and share all our good ideas. Contact Ada Shopa; she will get you started in our friendly and fun club.
Our first meeting of the season will be in September. Watch for news in “This week in SCOV” for up-to-date information.
Heads-up all existing members: Your theatre company board has been serving well for a number of years, serving two, three and one for four years. We call on you to step up and run for office to help out our club. September is the first meeting of the season and we will discuss nominations at that time. Elections are in October with new board assuming their roles in January.

Walt Nalewicki and Bob Stawiski put flags on grave sites at Arizona Veterans Cemetery at Marana for Memorial Day
In May, club members put U.S. flags at the gravesites at the Arizona Veterans Cemetery at Marana in honor of Memorial Day. In June, members delivered four pickup trucks of clothing donations for homeless veterans in Tucson. We have guest speakers who cover a range of topics and inform club members of VA compensation, entitlements and relevant issues. Our current membership is over 200 veterans. If you have an unserviceable U.S. flag, leave it by Mike LaBarbera’s front door wrapped inconspicuously. Purchase your Legacy Brick and support SCOV, your favorite SCOV club and local veterans. Email Mike LaBarbera for an order form.

We welcome our newly-elected board members, Beth Allen, president, and Bill Bable, treasurer. They join the rest of the board as we continue to plan for the summer and upcoming 2021-2022 year.
With the closing of the Activity Center Auditorium for renovation, we are moving both our ongoing Wednesday practice sessions as well as dance classes to the Aquatic & Fitness Center/Studios 1 & 2. Please note our typical start time changes to 5 PM beginning July 7. There are a few specific rules for our use of this very danceable space: • SCOV ID card or key fob will be required for building entry. A club host will be available to sign our non-resident members in as guests. • Suede-soled dance shoes or pebble-free gym shoes are required for the special floor.
As always, be sure to check our website and read your emails and TWISCOV to keep up on dance happenings.
Folk Dance Pres. Siva Raven 505-469-7505 sivaraven@gmail.com Fri., 10-11:30 AM, AFC/Studios 1 & 2
Folk dancing resumed June 18. We now meet every Friday, 10-11:30 AM in the AFC. Folk dancing is a wonderful way to exercise both your body and mind and to socialize in the company of this warm and welcoming group. While our original leader and mentor, Harvey Gardner, has retired, his handpicked replacement team of four will do our best to fill in for him. We are grateful for his years of leadership.
We encourage everyone who is fully vaccinated to join us, no experience, no partners required. Each dance will be reviewed prior to dancing. Bonus: no minutes, no meetings, no 19
