Pilates Mary Ayers 520-638-7916 scov.pilates@gmail.com Mon., 3 PM, Thu., 1:30 PM, AFC/Studio

Summer is here and both the Monday and Thursday classes are small and more personal, making it a great time to try out Pilates. Stretching exercises are done first to warm up, then the Pilates mat routine is performed with modified moves for those of us with limitations. People ask, “Can the benefits of Pilates, which come from strengthening and stretching exercises, really develop the body’s core (your abdomen and back muscles), make you stronger overall, increase spine mobility and build flexibility?” The answer is a firm yes. Additional benefits include improved balance, muscle tone, stamina and a feeling of well-being. The cost is $8/class and annual club dues are $20 pp. Please join us or just stop by and watch. Call Mary with questions.

In a continuing effort to inform anyone interested in the game of Scrabble, there are an estimated 35 million leisure Scrabble game players in the United States and Canada. Among those are more than 10,000 active players and approximately 300 sanctioned clubs. In our SCOV Scrabble Club, players are classified as casual players, have a good handle on vocabulary and play well. We use the official Scrabble dictionaries and some other methods of checking if a word is acceptable or if the word is spelled correctly.

If you are new to the community or a long time resident wanting to try something new, please drop by on Friday afternoons and just observe or participate in a game. The club welcomes all.
