Lieutenant Governor’s Address

Hopefully you’ve been able to start off your service year with a bang, and as we transition from a school mindset to a summer mindset, I’d like to encourage you to keep serving your communities and engaging with Key Club. The district has many ways for you to do just that, whether it’s attending International Convention in late June or enrolling in the Community Foodbank of New Jersey’s Teen Hunger Institute on July 29th, we’ve provided a myriad of avenues for you to stay involved. Until then, enjoy the rest of the year!

The Officers

Secretary My name is Emily Wang. I recently joined Key Club this year, becoming secretary of the club. What I love about being apart of Key club is being able to help out my community.

President

My name is Brad Lanza. I joined Key Club as a sophomore. I saw a commercial on the announcements and thought, "that looks like an actually fun club". I attended the first meeting that year and didn't know any one there, but it's ok because I then was able to meet and make friends with more people. This year, I hope that I can help other people in the club meet kids from other grades that Treasurer they can be comfortable My name is Michael to talk to in the hallways Bogart. I've been in and outside of school. I'm Key Club since I was a looking forward to a great sophomore, and it has and promising year for the the best times I have HC Key Club! had in high school. This club lets you to make new friends and it allows you to help people in your community. I don't think a club can better than Key Club is.

Vice President My name is Owen Lyons. My sophomore year I decided to join key club to put on my résumé. However, soon it became evident that key club was more than just something to write down. This club let me to put time for others, which opened my eyes to the real world.

Editor My name is Sean Quinn. I’ve been in Key Club since beginning high school. I first joined because I thought it would look good. I then learned that I love being in Key Club and now I go to all kinds of Key Club events.

Hunterdon Central Key Club

As this service year comes to an end, our club can be satisfied with what we have done. We most recently held a snack stand at a track meet to raise money for the Eliminate Project. We have also selected our new officers for the next year to come. Brad Lanza as President, Owen Lyons as Vice President, Emily Wang as Secretary, Michael Bogart as Treasurer, and Sean Quinn as Editor. We have big plans to further improve out club for next year and get even more service projects into our year.

New Jersey District

This year the New Jersey District has a new focus. We are going to be working with food banks to get food to people who don’t have any or anyone who needs it. Our district is going to be working closely with the NORWESCAP Food Bank. They are part of the 5 food banks in the Food Bank Federation that we as a district are helping. Our fundraising goal is $90,077.85 and our total hour of service goal is 18,630 hours. The District Board has put big goals in front of us but if we work as a district we will accomplish the goals.

RTCs

Each year, our district holds different RTCs (Regional Training Conferences). They have different sessions that teach about everything Key Club. They have a new theme every year and this years theme is pumping up the volume of service. They are run by out District Board and they supply lunch. The Spring RTCs have already passed but there will be three more RTCs this fall. They take place at Millburn High School on September 19th, Phillipsburg High School on September 13th, and West Deptford High School on September 12th. These aren’t just for the officers, they are for all Key Club members. You can meet new people, expand you knowledge on Key Club ,and have a good time.

Key Club International Convention The International Convention was a blast for everyone. New Jersey sent 31 Key Clubbers to go to Indianapolis, Indiana to partake in the events. There were parties, games and even a concert. But there was also times to be serious such as going to workshops and attended and voting at House of Delegates. New amendments were voted on and passed and the new International Board was voted on and selected on with Rip Livingston as the New International President and Addison Clipfell as the new International Vice President and 11 new International Trustees. While there Key Clubbers also celebrated the 100th anniversary of Kiwanis so there were many events for that.

Key Club International

Now that ICON has passed, Key Club International already is going ahead. They announced that since we didn’t reach our goal for Eliminate, Key Club International has pledged another 5 years to the Eliminate Project. The New International Board will carry out this new pledge to the Eliminate Project in a whole new way that will only build upon what we have done in the previous years with Eliminate.
