What's On in SPH Lippo Village
Dear SPH Parents & Students,
The title of this year’s DP Art Exhibition was Sanctuary: Prelude airing our place of refuge and safety … the students’ art started with a particular societal challenge and sought to move to a place of resolution or refuge. They did an excellent job creating a sense of our human dilemma – complicated, stressful, uncertain times, and our need for a place of refuge.
In a complex world, thriving requires refuge that can deliver on the promise of rest and give clarity and hope. In Psalm 91 David wrote: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the Shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
David lived in uncertain times – the threat of war, brothers who didn’t understand him, a king looking to kill him. We know later in his life he brought many troubles on himself…
throughout his life as a shepherd, fugitive, and king … he sought refuge rest with his Creator. At the end of Psalm 91 David writes of God’s promise to those who trust in Him: “because he (David) holds fast to Me in love, I will deliver him; … I will protect him because he knows my Name.”
God didn’t promise David and He doesn’t promise us that life will be free of challenges … what he promises is vs 15 “When he calls (we call) to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.”
The work of our students addressed difficulties of living in a broken world. God’s Word reminds us that our ultimate refuge is our Creator God who loves His children and desires to be our sanctuary because He cares for us.
Because
He is Faithful,

The Power of Art: Exploring Self Expression and Creativity
Our K2 Students Went to Museum Macan
Are you ready for a journey through the eyes of our little K2 students? Last week, they embarked on an adventure that was both fun-filled and enriching at the Museum Macan! As part of their Unit of Inquiry on How We Express Ourselves, our curious kids were thrilled to discover that art is one of the many ways to express themselves.
With the guidance of the museum's tour guide, our enthusiastic teachers, and supportive parents, our little ones were mesmerized by the various art pieces on display. They were encouraged to observe and explore their feelings and emotions while looking at the different artwork. It was a truly captivating experience for all of them.
Art has a powerful impact on self-expression and creativity, and our students were thrilled to explore this concept firsthand. Through art, they discovered how to channel their emotions and feelings into something truly beautiful. Our K2 students have surely left the museum feeling inspired, and we cannot wait to see how they will express themselves in the future

Bringing New Heights for SPH Music through the ACSC Honors Music Festival
SPH LV Ministering Arts
SPH is passionate about providing students with opportunities to develop their talents and pursue their passions. That's why we're thrilled to share the story of our Ministering Arts Coordinator and one of our talented music students who recently attended the ACSC Honors Music Festival in Taiwan!
After undergoing auditions and rigorous training, our chosen student, Rachel, accompanied by her mother and guided by our experienced teacher, participated in this renowned festival. The ACSC Honors Music Festival brings together Christian international schools from across Asia for a week of music, cultural exchange, and service learning.
For Rachel and our teacher, Mr. David Hamot, the festival proved to be an intense and unforgettable experience, allowing them to deepen their passion for music and strengthen their faith. Rachel excelled in representing our school, and we are immensely proud of her accomplishments.
At our school, we believe that providing students with such enriching opportunities is key to their development as well-rounded individuals, and we look forward to continuing to support and inspire our students in their musical pursuits.

Embrace the change
Grade 7 Transition Day
Moving up to middle school can be a daunting experience for many students, but at our school, we make sure to ease the transition as much as possible. This month, we held our annual Transition Day for our current grade 6 students, as well as some new students who will be joining us next year.
During Transition Day, our grade 6 students were able to meet some of our grade 7 teachers and get a taste of what they can expect in their new classrooms. They also had the opportunity to chat with some of their upperclassmen, who shared their experiences and answered any questions the younger students had.
Mrs. Rebecca, our grade 7 year lead teacher, emphasized the importance of embracing change and being open to new experiences in middle school. She explained that while it may be scary at first, middle school can be an exciting time of growth and discovery for students.
At our school, we believe that preparing our students for the next stage of their academic journey is crucial to their success. By giving them a glimpse of what's to come, we hope to alleviate any anxiety they may have and instill a sense of excitement for their upcoming adventures in grade 7.

Flourishing Through IB DP Visual Arts at SPH Lippo Village! Senior School Event
The annual IB DP Visual Arts exhibition has made a triumphant return, and this year the students provide a sanctuary (place of refuge) of their individual perspectives through a collection of artworks.
Our IB DP Visual Arts program has become a cornerstone of our commitment to cultivating a culture of creativity and self-expression among our students. Through the program, our students have discovered new passions, honed their artistic skills to new heights, and embarked on an epic journey of personal growth and discovery.
One of the most significant benefits of the program is the emphasis it places on developing critical thinking and self-reflection skills. By learning to articulate their artistic vision and reflect on their creative process, our students take ownership of their learning journey and build a foundation for lifelong learning.
We're thrilled to share the amazing artwork and stories of our students at this year's exhibition. Click the button below to watch a video and hear what our students have to say about the transformative power of the Visual Arts program at SPH.

White rock christian academy visits sph!
Hosting White Rock Christian Academy's Mission Service Learning Program at our school
This month, our school had the honor of welcoming students from White Rock Christian Academy in Canada as part of their Mission Service Learning program. The program brought Canadian students to Indonesia to serve our community and learn about our rich culture.
As a host school, we were thrilled to facilitate their visit, allowing them to connect with our students through friendly sports games and cultural exchanges. In particular, the Canadian students joined our Food Design class to learn how to cook Indonesian Fried Rice, a staple dish in our country. One of the highlights of their visit was the opportunity to learn and present traditional Indonesian dances in front of their teachers and friends, a truly memorable experience for all involved.
We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with other Christian schools like White Rock Christian Academy and to share our unique culture with students from around the world. We look forward to welcoming more visitors in the future and building more bridges between our communities.

Christ Our Hope in life AND DEATH
Whole School Easter 2023
This year's Whole School Easter celebration was one for the books! Our theme, "Arise, Shine: Christ our hope in life and death," set the tone for an unforgettable event.
We were thrilled to have Pastor Richard Brueck from Karawaci Presbyterian Church (KPC) share a powerful message with our school community. Using Hebrews 2:14-15 as his foundation, he reminded us of Jesus’ sacrifice and how his death broke the power of death and the devil, freeing us from the fear of death and the slavery it can bring to our lives
The program started with an energetic worship led by our very own teachers and students from the SS & JS, who were accompanied by the Senior School Choir (organized by Ibu Enggar) and Junior School Choir (organized by Mrs. Emily). We sang our hearts out and celebrated the hope we have in Christ.
But wait, there's more! The highlight of the event was a thrilling drama called "The Bitter, The Proud and The True," organized by Pak Rullie and the SS Drama team. The performance was simply outstanding and had the audience at the edge of their seats. The actors brought the story to life and made us reflect on our own lives.
Overall, it was an incredible event that brought our school community together to celebrate Easter and the hope we have in Christ. We can't wait for next year's Whole School Easter celebration!
