What's On in SPH Lippo Village
Dear LV Parents & Students,
Recently I took a few moments to reflect on this year, our first full year back on campus since COVID lockdowns and hybrid learning. It was a year we worked to return fully to in-person learning, in some ways this year has flown by, while in many ways it was a very long school year as we re-started many traditions and in-person events. Thank you, parents, students, and teachers, for your patience as we remembered and re-learned how to plan and hold these traditional events. We are excited as we anticipate bringing even more back for the 23/24 school year – Sports carnival, Athletics day, Drama Productions in both the JS and SS, and more.
Large group activities were missed in our sports program and Ministering Arts. Last year, during the second semester, we held several ‘mini seasons’ to provide brief team sports experiences and held an end of year Music Awards Ceremony with limited performances. It was wonderful to have these programs back and watch our students compete and perform.
Thank you, students, for jumping back into our many programs that enrich your experiences and teach many life lessons to better equip you for the future God is calling you to. Thank you, parents, for your support and encouragement of your children to take on the challenges of balancing studies with these important activities! Thank you teachers for investing the many hours beyond your teaching to support students in your shared interests and passions as you directed and led.
As we the 2022-2023 school year ends, we are thankful for God’s mercies and grace and the privilege of being partners in growing up children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord!
Because He
is Faithful,

The yogurt banana adventure!
Pre-Kindergarten Classroom Experience
Last week, our little learners embarked on a delightful Yogurt and Banana adventure that left them with smiles, laughter, and a host of valuable skills. Our dedicated teachers ensured that this activity was not only filled with fun but also packed with valuable educational benefits. By seamlessly integrating play and learning, we provided our Pre-K learners with an enriching experience that nurtured their holistic development. Let's take a closer look at the amazing benefits our play-based learning activity offered:
Develop Fine Motor Skills: Our mini chefs engaged in tasks like cutting, scooping, peeling, and mixing, honing their hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
Build Pre-Writing Skills: By expertly peeling bananas, our young learners mastered the pincer grasp, enhancing finger control and strengthening hand muscles for future writing success.
Explore the Senses: The Yogurt and Banana activity provided a sensory extravaganza! Our little ones discovered contrasting flavors, stimulating taste buds and expressing preferences.
Learn about Math: Counting from 1 to 3 while scooping yogurt immersed our Pre-K learners in a world of numbers, practicing counting skills and developing an understanding of quantity.
Identify Colors: Amidst colorful utensils, vibrant bananas, and creamy yogurt, our little explorers engaged in color recognition, extending their knowledge beyond the rainbow.
Language Development: The letter Y shone brightly in our Yogurt and Banana adventure! Our young linguists associated Y with "Yogurt" and "Yellow Banana," fostering early literacy skills and expanding their vocabulary.
Stay tuned for more exciting adventures to come as we continue to inspire and engage our little ones through playful learning!

SPH CUP
Igniting Passion and Student Growth through Badminton!
Step onto our campus during the annual SPH Cup, and you'll witness the revival of a cherished sport that sends ripples of excitement throughout our student body. Yes, it's badminton a game that brings together enthusiasm, activity, and the thrill of friendly competition. But the SPH Cup is more than just a tournament; it's a catalyst for teamwork, new friendships, and the fostering of a healthy competitive spirit.
We firmly believe that an active body and mind are the cornerstones of student success. That's why our after-school sports programs, ranging from basketball to badminton and an array of other sports, provide valuable opportunities for growth, exploration, and personal development.
The SPH Cup serves as a springboard, propelling our students beyond the boundaries of our campus. It's a platform where they showcase their skills, test their limits, and form lasting bonds with fellow athletes. But the journey doesn't end there. Our after-school program extends its reach to international competitions, allowing our students to immerse themselves in a global arena.
Through the SPH Cup and beyond, our students experience comprehensive growth that extends beyond the classroom. They cultivate essential life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and resilience—qualities that will serve as pillars of their success in all aspects of life.
As we celebrate the triumphs of the SPH Cup, we applaud the dedication and perseverance exhibited by our students. We extend our gratitude to the parents, coaches, and teachers who have supported and nurtured these young athletes, guiding them towards excellence both on and off the court.

Looking Back, looking Forward
Annual Art Exhibition 2023
Celebrating a significant milestone in our campus's history, this year's Annual Art Exhibition embraced the theme of "Looking Back, Looking Forward" as we commemorated the 30th anniversary of our school. With a desire to reflect on our journey while holding onto a strong sense of hope for the future, the Art Department curated a remarkable showcase of artistic talent.
Every year, our students get the opportunity to participate in the Annual Art Exhibition by submitting their own artworks. These pieces of creative expression are meticulously assessed by our art teachers, who select and award prizes in various categories. Through this exhibition, we aim to foster a love for art and instill confidence in our students, encouraging them to proudly display their artistic skills.
But this year was even more special. In addition to the exhibition, our students had the unique chance to enhance their artistic abilities through a series of captivating art workshops facilitated by our dedicated teachers. From the intricate art of ceramics to the vibrant world of watercolor painting, our students immersed themselves in diverse art mediums, honing their skills and expanding their artistic horizons.
The Annual Art Exhibition and the accompanying workshops were not merely opportunities for artistic expression; they were transformative experiences that nurtured creativity, self-expression, and personal growth. By engaging in these artistic endeavors, our students discovered new ways to communicate, developed a keen eye for detail, and learned to embrace the power of visual storytelling.

DOG DAY AT OUR CAMPUS
Grade 7 Mission Learning Service Experience
In a heartwarming display of compassion and community spirit, our dedicated grade 7 students have embarked on a remarkable fundraising initiative as part of their Mission Service Learning (MSL) project. Their unwavering commitment to giving back to those in need has inspired us all.
One innovative event that captured the hearts of our school community was the "Dog Day" gathering. Students who have furry companions at home eagerly brought their beloved pets to campus, offering a unique opportunity for our community members to interact with these adorable four-legged friends.
The presence of these lovable dogs provided a much-needed respite from the daily stresses and pressures of school life. Students, teachers, and staff alike relished the chance to alleviate their stress by spending quality time with these furry companions. By purchasing a ticket, individuals could enjoy a special session with the dogs, indulging in the therapeutic effects of petting and embracing their comforting presence.
The proceeds generated from this heartwarming event were dedicated to supporting a worthy cause—the GEKKO organization. This remarkable organization is steadfast in its mission to empower impoverished communities, providing them with sustainable income opportunities, access to education, and meaningful employment, both during the ongoing pandemic and beyond. By directing the funds raised towards GEKKO, our students demonstrated their profound dedication to uplifting those most in need.

Supporting My Child in MYP
Ibu Sofia Tjiptadjaja | SPH LV Parent
The IB MYP program can be challenging and stressful for children, but we're here to help. We've collected valuable tips from Ibu Sofia, a parent at SPH LV, to empower you and your child during the MYP journey. Explore these insights to support your child's education and well-being!
Be Generous with Encouragement:
In the midst of the challenges of MYP life demanding academics, social responsibilities, and self-discovery—our children need our encouragement. There is no need to nag or correct them very often because the children already know what they need to do; they are still struggling. Encouragement shows acceptance, lifts spirits, builds connections, and boosts courage during difficult times.
Focus on the Process, Not the Results:
Mistakes are part of the learning journey, so instead of fixating on grades, encourage them to focus on the learning process. Help them develop skills in self-management, responsibility, planning, prioritization, and selfcontrol. Mastering these processes will naturally lead to positive outcomes. Celebrate every small win on their path to forming good habits.
Consciously Retreat and Give Space:
During the transition from childhood to young adulthood, our children undergo significant changes. It's important for us to consciously retreat and give them space to make decisions for themselves. Expect inefficiencies, mistakes, and missed opportunities. This space allows them to grow and become independent adults.

Be Kind and Helpful:
Loving our children is essential, but it's equally important to show kindness and offer help. Avoid falling into the trap of selfish love. Take the time to understand their needs, treat them kindly, and provide the support they require. Love them fiercely, but be flexible in your approach.
Fighting for Our Children on Our Knees: Envision your child growing into a reliable, responsible, respectful, selfdisciplined, and thoughtful individual. Surrender your vision of their future to a higher power, and pray for guidance. Remember that your children are on their own journey, and it's our role as temporary stewards to raise them with love. Trust that with faith, we will be equipped with the power and wisdom needed for this parenting task.
