What's Onin SPH Lippo Village
“I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
(Psalm 18:1-2)
Dear SPH LV Parents & Friends,
Whether our students are learning their letters in Pre Kindy, how to organize and manage routine tasks in Kindy 3, playing on the new playground, or their parents learning the strategies behind children learning to read, throughout all these lessons it is our joy as teachers and parents of SPH to love our students and point them to our loving God.
These verses of Psalm 18 remind us of some of our Heavenly Father’s attributes. He is our strength, our rock, fortress, deliverer, shield, Savior, and stronghold.
It is our joy to share these attributes and more as we learn together as a school family. Christ is central to our learning and to our times together in community. As you read through this issue of “What’s On” may you be reminded of our Creator God’s faithfulness in relationships that are being formed and deepened.
May our love for our Lord grow stronger as we learn to trust Christ our rock, shield, and stronghold.
Because He is faithful, GreggThompson Head of School SPH Lippo Village

Let’s Go for a Garden Walk! Activity
Earlier this month, our Pre Kindy students got the chance to do an outdoor activity, in the form of a fun garden walk together with their teachers. This activity aimed to reinforce the letter concept of the week which was, "Gg".
By going out of their classroom and exploring the garden, they could use most of their senses to see and touch real things connected to the letter Gg such as garden, grass, gecko, and green.
From holding a stick to exploring leaves, our little learners discovered new things beyond their classroom. It was a great day for some sunshine, a little exercise, and fresh air. What do you think their next outdoor activity will be?

Time to wash your clothes!
K3 September Activity
Did you know how excellent our K3 students were at washing their clothes? In exploring the Unit of Inquiry: How We Organize Ourselves? students learn about rules and routines and how to be a responsible community member. This is why K3 students were asked to bring their clothes to school so they could learn how to wash them by themselves.
In the backyard of our Kindergarten pod, Kindy teachers have prepared several buckets filled with water and soap, where each student received their designated bucket to wash their clothes. From rubbing the fabric together to squeezing out excess water from their clothes, it was a great and fun learning opportunity about responsibility, with a bonus of shaping our K3 students’ motor skills!
Once their clothes were washed, each student was given one hanger to hang their clothes in the backyard You could see their joy and wonder as they tried to hang their clothes on the rope provided. What a good experience for them all!

it's finally happening, let's play!
Junior School Playground Grand Opening
On the 15th of September, our Junior School students gathered around the newly renovated playground. The work was finally finished, students had their playground back, and it was even better than before! The new playground is now equipped with a giant slide to cater to our students’ needs in having a bigger and better quality playground. On top of that, each site challenges students in their motor skills while they exercise and have fun!
We thanked God for His provision as we completed the long process of having a good quality playground for our students. We wanted to thank parents for making this playground possible through their consistent contribution paying the DPP tuition for any facilities improvements. We also wanted to take this opportunity to thank Ibu Emilia (Director of Admission) and Bapak Indra (General Affairs Department Head) for their hard work and commitment in ensuring a smooth and swift renovation.

It's Reading ITime! t's Reading Time!
Grade 1 Parents Reading Session 2022
Earlier this September, our Grade 1 parents and teachers took the time to gather together in the morning for a reading session. This gathering aimed to help parents understand the reading activity and assignments their children will face throughout the year.
At SPH, teachers rarely give their first grade students homework to take home, in order to prevent them from over-relying on their parents for assistance. However, parents are strongly encouraged to daily help their children with their reading. This Reading Session also gave parents the opportunity to learn from the teachers ways to guide their children in reading.
The session began with an introduction from 1st grade teachers about reading, followed by a skit conducted by them to show how a parent should guide their children during reading time. This gave parents a clearer picture on how they could direct their children, as they are accompanying them to read. Parents also got the chance to practice guiding their children by doing the same skit with each other.

To let our new students settle into their new community, our Junior School team held a welcoming session for our new students to gather, eat, and play! This session varied from each grade level, with some levels starting the session with a game, while others began with singing and dancing. Regardless, all junior grade levels ended up doing the best activity: eating pizza with their friends!
It might be a simple activity, but it was a fun way to help our new junior students settle into our SPH LV community. Once again, welcome to SPH!

School Theme Launch Opening Event
The 8th of September marked our first onsite School Theme Launch event after two years of online learning due to the pandemic. This was a memorable moment for our SPH LV community as we took the time to be out of our classroom and gather together in Gym 2 to listen to the Word of God.
For this year’s theme launch, we had the honor of having Mr. Brett Bonnema, our SPH Sentul City’s Head of School, share the Word of God.
This year, we are reflecting on the theme of Arise, Shine from Isaiah 60:1. Mr. Brett reminded us of the reason we can confidently say, “arise, shine!” in our community. God so loved the world that He has given us His one and only Son, so we may be freed from the shackles of sin. It is because of Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for us, that we can now bring His light to the world through our lives living out the Gospel.

SPH LV Open Day for Prospective Families
On 5 10 September 2022, our campus opened its doors to prospective families who were interested in enrolling their children at SPH. Unlike our previous open day in the past, this time we had a special twist! To cater to the need of more 1:1 admission consultation and school tours, we held our open day for a whole week. To our surprise, we were surrounded with so much joy as we had the opportunity to meet a lot of families who would like to know about our school and the community better.
For parents, if you are interested in referring your friends or families at SPH, you are more than welcome to use our Parent Referral Form to get a special offer. We would love to partner with more families as we provide a second home for their children.
*Please get your Parent Referral Form at our Admission Office.

Teacher's Testimony
International Teacher, International Student.
Glenn Crane | STEAM Coordinator
Mr. Glenn Crane is our new STEAM Coordinator who also teaches IB DP Business Management. Read Mr. Glenn's testimony of God's work in his life and how he was called to be a Christian educator.
Hello all, it is a huge blessing to be able to share a little bit about my testimony and my journey to SPH Lippo Village. This is my first year at SPH Lippo Village, but cumulatively my 6th year with SPH.
My journey to become an International Teacher began when I was an International Student. I was in Junior School when my parents became missionaries in Kenya. We stayed for over three years, and during the two years we were in Kenya, I was fortunate enough to attend an International Christian School called Rift Valley Academy (RVA). In fact some of my earliest memories were formed as an International Student, remembering times eating Korean food, learning Swahili, and experiencing new cultures from my classmates
After my family returned to England and my father became a full time Pastor, I was constantly involved in the church, from supervising toddlers during service to leading events for young teens during weekly youth nights. This was where I realized my passion to teach and guide young people with their journeys to Christ, especially as my own journey with Christ had started as a young teen during a Christian youth conference.
After graduating and teaching in England for 2.5 years I felt the calling to revisit my own experiences and became a teacher at a small International Christian School in Paraguay.

During this time, I met my wife, we got married, and then started searching for God’s calling in the next step of our lives together. This is where we first had the opportunity to work at SPH.
We instantly found a truly Godly community, where we learned how to put Christ at the center of our household, while also giving our all to teach those students who were entrusted to us. We loved Indonesia, we loved our KV community, and the students we had the blessing to teach were truly amazing individuals. Despite the love we had for where we were, we felt the call to move on and head to Korea (especially considering so many of the students throughout our careers were from Korea).
After some years in Korea and two children who are truly TCKs (being born in Korea), we knew that we were being called back to Indonesia and to SPH. While this journey was slightly delayed due to a global pandemic, we feel that in everything God’s timing was perfect. So 5 years and 1 day after packing our belongings in Jakarta to move to Seoul, we packed our belongings in Seoul to move back to Jakarta.
We truly believe in every ounce of our beings that God has called us back to SPH, that He has an amazing plan for this school and this community, and that our role here is to give our all in doing our part in His plan.
It is truly a blessing to be back at SPH, thank you for sending your students to this school, and I am truly excited to be a part of their education.
