MANAGEMENT UPDATES
Discovering our Heritage… A project spanning over two years, the History & Heritage project was the Club’s effort to discover and chronicle our past – from our humble beginnings as a golf club for the British Royal Air Force to our beautiful grounds today. We are proud to announce that the production of our History & Heritage coffee table book is well under way! Titled Seletar Spirit: The Seletar Country Club Story, the book is the result of loads of research, interviews with members and scouring for photos (we found some great gems, look out for them in the book). Books will go on sale later this year. Keep your eyes peeled for this collectible!
CLUB CLOSURE ON STAFF DAY MON, 14 NOV 2016 Kindly note that Staff Day has been postponed to Monday, 14 November 2016. In celebration of this, the Club will be closed on that day. Operations will resume on Tuesday, 15 November 2016. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.

WONDERLAND This year’s Swimming Carnival was a huge hit! The Club saw over 100 members and their kids taking part, with participants competing in a total of 28 races at the pool. As a special event, family members took part in a family telematch race where teams were tasked to swim the length of the pool, paddle hard on kayaks and find hidden rubber ducks in a foam-filled pool! Durian Feast ON THE COURSE!
A highlight in Seletar’s golfing calendar, the Captain’s and Lady Captain’s Prize is an exciting annual tournament filled with treats and surprises – this year it certainly lived up to its reputation! Keeping with tradition, the game was preceded with a durian feast at the Starter’s Hut. Golfers also had a chance to check out the Hole-in-One prize up for grabs, a brand new Kia Sportage. We saw Seletar’s very best competing in the tournament but only a few emerged victorious – congratulations Andy Pang and Willy Tan who won based on blind partnership! When the game drew to a close, golfers were treated to an evening of kampong nostalgia, complete with traditional décor and local gastronomia. And to add a twist to our usual lucky draw, members whose names were drawn competed to answer a pop quiz about the Club – winners then got top picks to select their prize of choice. It was truly an unforgettable night – and the last one with former Captain Phua Hua Seng. As we applaud his new position as ViceChairman, we look forward to next year’s tournament with our new Captain Ismail Taha! || ||

WONG KAN SENG TROPHY Steeped in history, the Wong Kan Seng Trophy was first held on 25th February 1988 to commemorate the opening of a new clubhouse at the Seletar Airbase. At the time, Mr Wong Kan Seng was minister for the Ministry of Community Development. Seletar members played against golfers from the ministry as well as those from our founding organisation, the Singapore Sports Council. Since then it has become an annual affair, with an aim to strengthen ties and develop close relationships between members of Seletar’s Management Committee and those from the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and SportSG. With that in mind, the 28th Wong Kan Seng trophy was held in July this year, with guests like Mr Wong Kan Seng himself taking part together with Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for National Development. In the end, team SportSG and MCCY emerged victorious with a score of 314 points! Congratulations!

SELETAR FACES OFF WITH JURONG 6TH LEG SGA INTER-CLUB LEAGUE On the last week of June, our Seletar league warriors battled their hearts out at Raffles Country Club against the opponents for the week, Jurong Country Club (JCC). THANK YOU, RANGERS Tuesday, 28 June was the very last meeting that former Captain Phua Hua Seng had with our course rangers before stepping down and assuming his role as Vice-Chairman. Appointed in August 2015, the course rangers have played integral roles in ensuring the golf course remains in tiptop condition. With them providing us constructive feedback, it is no wonder that we receive so many compliments on our golf course. Thank you rangers for your time and contribution over the past year! The team of course rangers has since been disbanded.
