DRESS RIGHT

FOR THE OCCASION Whether we’re out on the golf course or relaxing with our buddies at the Terrace, we still want to look our best! Dressing right for the occasion is an important way to observe social etiquette and our club’s social mores. The club’s dress code, as featured in the General Byelaws, exists as a guideline to help us achieve this. After all when we look good, we feel good too! When in doubt, golfing and smart casual attire are the best options for locations such as the Terrace and Tavern. Shorts, sleeveless T-shirts and slippers are a most definite no-no! The dress code can also be found on the club’s website.

SELETAR: COUNTDOWN TO 2017

Seletarians young and old welcomed in the New Year at Seletar’s first ever Party Olympics. Decked in their party best, members put on their fanciest moves on the dance floor at the Seletar Room. DJ Navin and MC Laurence Wong who were the hosts for the evening entertained the high energy crowd with games, lucky draw prize giveaways and pub music. At the entrance, our party sportsmen and women gamely goofed around as they posed for pictures at the photo booth with zany coloured afro wigs and an assortment of props. ||

the party then migrated to the club’s lobby which was transformed into a dance arena that could easily rival the best dance parties around. In a show of impressive stamina, our party olympians kept up their high octane energy levels as they danced and shimmied the night away. Finally, the highly anticipated moment came and the crowd celebrated with a resounding cheer of “Happy New Year”. Well wishes were exchanged as our party athletes embraced and shook hands to mark yet another memorable year at Seletar Country Club.

CARING FOR OUR GOLF COURSE Recently, several golfers have been observed pulling their trolleys through the turf areas at Holes 11 and 18. Members are strongly reminded not to do this as it causes damage to the surrounding turf. Golfers are therefore kindly advised to adhere to the signages indicating no pulling of trolleys placed at respective locations. Maintaining the surroundings of the course during and after a game makes for responsible golfing and is also an important aspect of club life. By doing so, we not only preserve the life of our turf but we can also help to prolong its pristine beauty and playability. Damaged Turf Let’s remember to golf responsibly by practicing our 4R’s: • Rake Bunkers

SPECIAL FEATURE

OUR NATURAL LANDSCAPES When one sets foot onto the grounds ||

of Seletar Country Club, the disarming rustic charm of its natural surroundings are bound to make a lasting impression on any visitor. Seletar’s diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna sets it apart as a golf course unlike any other in Singapore. To date, Seletar Country Club is home to over a 100 different species of bird and wildlife as well as 378 plant species. golfing experience here at Seletar. Often, golfers may even have their own close encounters with the wild in the form of the Pacific Swallow criss crossing the grounds for insects or the birdcall greetings of the Yellow Wattlebirds in the wee hours of the morning. Besides our fine feathered friends, Seletar Country Club is also home to a thriving variety of natural wildlife which includes mammals, amphibians, insects and even reptiles. So don’t be surprised if on a fine day you find yourself having to hit your golf ball on the back of an intrepid monitor lizard! Of course, one would be remiss to not mention the Butterfly Garden. SPOTLIGHT “I feel really fortunate to work with a team of hardworking individuals who always deliver their best. It’s a breeze to work alongside them every day!” With all the work that needs to be done, meticulousness and attention to detail are two important traits required for anyone who wishes to be a part of the team. Just ask Rifa'eh bin Ahmad, the 62 year old Greenskeeper who has worked at the Club for over two decades. “With my job, I have to ensure that grass levels on the green, fairway and semi||
