Dear Members, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
As we welcome 2022, let us usher in the New Year with renewed hopes for better things to come in the year of the Tiger. First off, I would like to thank our members for opening their hearts and contributing generously for the staff’s Ang Pow. 2021 had been an exceptionally difficult year for our staff as they were stretched considerably due to a labor crunch caused by COVID-19. Despite the challenges posed, they have continued to give their best to the Club. We are sure that our staff will be very appreciative of this kind gesture from Club members. Recently, we have received many compliments for the staff. It is gratifying to know that the commitment made by our staff have not gone unnoticed. With the continued support of members, I am sure they will be further motivated to provide outstanding service to all. In other staff related developments, the Club held its annual Staff Day event on 13 and 14 December 2021 at the Theatrette. We recognised our Long Service Awardees for their years of dedicated and loyal service, one of them have served us for half a century. It is a truly remarkable feat that not many can boast of. Read more about their achievements on pages 4 and 5. Also, let us welcome Executive Chef, Mr. Sunny Soon to the Club. He has joined us in November 2021 and brings a wealth of experience from the F&B industry. With his guidance, our Club’s F&B offerings will undoubtedly be elevated to a new level. Golfing Matters From 8-22 December 2021, we held the “Love Our Greens Campaign”. It was an initiative to encourage golfers to repair ball marks on the greens. On alternate dates during the campaign, volunteers went around to spot golfers who made an effort to repair ball marks. Those successfully identified were rewarded with a little token in the form of a specially designed arm sleeve. It is truly heartening to see that members have demonstrated great support for this campaign. In fact, some even approached us to offer their praises on a job well done. Taking care of our greens is not an easy job by any means but our Course Maintenance crew and members alike have gone above and beyond their line of duty to ensure the greens remain in pristine condition. Congratulations on a job well done, fellow Seletarians! Digitalising Operations and Enhancing Staff Efficiency The Club has consistently made several efforts to digitalise

operations and lately, a number of initiatives have been introduced to support this. In the second half of 2020, the Club had introduced a SelfOrdering System at the Seletar Terrace. It allows for streamlining of orders and improves the accuracy of orders and reduction of wait times. We highly encourage members to take advantage of this system. It will certainly help to improve your experience at the Seletar Terrace. You may also have noticed that physical feedback boxes around the Club have been replaced with QR codes that members can scan using their mobile devices. Upon scanning the QR code, you will be led to an online form that will allow you to submit your feedback easily and with a minimum of fuss. This initiative is just one of several in our efforts to be environmentally friendly. Growing Tennis Community In recent times, our Tennis Community has been steadily growing from strength to strength. This is thanks to our Sports & Social team who have worked hard behind the scenes to offer a variety of activities ranging from Tennis Lessons to Tennis Camps, and more, despite the ever-changing Covid-19 restrictions. If you are interested to join, feel free to contact our Sports & Social team for more information. Festive Decorations As is tradition in past years, the Club have spared no efforts in transforming the Main Clubhouse Lobby into a Winter Wonderland. We have received numerous compliments of the spectacular decorations. Many thanks to our staff who never fail to impress us with their creativity, we and I look forward to what they have planned for Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year F&B Promotions Part of the appeal of Chinese New Year is a well-deserved feast with our family and friends. Our F&B team have cooked up a storm with a plethora of promotions that are sure to be crowd pleasers. If you are unable to dine-in with us, please do consider our takeaway promotions and bring a taste of festive Seletar home to your loved ones. Closing Remarks Lastly, I would like to wish all our members and friends celebrating the Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai! In the year of the Tiger, may we all be abundantly blessed with good health and the best of wealth this year. Stay Safe and Happy Golfing! HO JUAN HENG Captain

Staff Event
YEAR-END
After a long hiatus, the Staff Year-End Event finally happened on 13 and 14 December 2021 respectively. To ensure that safe distancing measures were kept to, the staff were split into 2 groups over both days. Upon registration, staff were provided with a door gift. They were ecstatic at being able to come together for this annual event before the year was over. As is tradition in years past, we witnessed the milestones of Long Service Awardees in receiving recognition from the Club. This time round, we recognised 11 Long Service Awardees. There was also a lucky draw conducted where staff stood a chance to win attractive prizes. After the event, delicious and healthy Bento boxes were provided for everyone’s enjoyment. We want to take this opportunity to thank our staff for their hard work and look forward to their contributions for 2022.

MATCH PLAY 12
SPORTS + SOCIAL
Across several days in November and December 2021, we held the Tennis Match Play for several categories of players. They comprised of the Junior Doubles, Orange Ball, Green 10 & Under and Green High-Performance categories. The Match Play is a casual tournament for the kids to compete in a fun and inclusive environment. Children from other tennis academies were also invited to compete in the tournament. This helped greatly with exposing our kids to different playing styles and abilities. Our kids were also taught important values about sportsmanship, such as learning how to behave appropriately during a competition and accepting defeat humbly.
t D Green CAMP TENNIS
The Green Dot Tennis Camp was held from Monday to Friday, 6 to 10 December 2021 with a total of 4 participants. Our students had plenty of fun honing their skills by playing against each other as well as learning how to improve their play from our coach.
The Ladies Doubles Match Play took place on Saturday, 11 December 2021. There was a total of 14 participants. Our Ladies had fun sparring with each other throughout. Given it was our first time organising a Ladies Doubles Match Play, we are grateful to members and their guests for showing their support with a good turnout.
Parent&Child DOUBLES MATCH PLAY
The inaugural Parent & Child Doubles Match Play was held on Sunday, 19 December 2021. Response for the activity was encouraging, with a total of 22 participants divided into 11 pairs. It was inspiring to witness the camaraderie and sportsmanship between the children and their parents. We look forward to holding more Parent & Child Match Plays in 2022.

GARDEN PLANTING Following the success of our inaugural Butterfly Garden Planting activity in August, we organised a second edition of this event on Saturday, 11 December 2021. There was a strong turnout, with a total of 16 participants joining us for this activity. Participants learned about butterflies and their life cycles, plants and how the environment at our garden allows them to thrive. They also planted butterfly host plants to encourage more butterflies to make our garden their home. Additionally, the children brought back caterpillars to care for until they have transformed into butterflies. We look forward to hosting more Butterfly Garden Planting activities in 2022!
AT GOLF COURSE Due to popular demand after our last Brisk Walk at the Golf Course in September, we organised a second edition on Tuesday, 14 December 2021. Numbers were impressive, with 35 participants turning up for the Brisk Walk. This time round, participants walked a 3-kilometer route spanning the perimeter of the course. Participating in this activity allows one to enjoy the golf course’s stunning landscape, which is a real treat for non-golfers. As a bonus, participants were able to take scenic photos of the landscape against the glow of the setting sun, and spot various flora and fauna – they even managed to spot the grey crowned crane, affectionately known to members as Hon. We look forward to seeing you at our Brisk Walks at the Golf Course in 2022. Once more details are available, we will announce them in due course.
Archery
Workshop The first ever Archery Workshop was held on both Monday and Tuesday, 20 and 21 December 2021 to accommodate our member’s busy schedules. This was one of the events requested by members during a Sports & Social survey held in October 2021. There was a strong turnout for the workshop, with a total of 16 participants. This introductory workshop taught participants basic archery skills including how to notch, aim and release an arrow in a safe manner.

They spent their time there helping to prepare meals for the charity’s various beneficiaries. We thank our members for taking time out of their busy schedule to render help to the less privileged. As a non-affiliated charity, Willing Hearts is wholly run by volunteers, apart from a handful of staff. It operates a soup kitchen that prepares, cooks, and distributes about 10,000 daily meals to over 70 locations island wide, 365 days a year. Beneficiaries include the elderly, the disabled, lowincome families, children from single parent families or otherwise povertystricken families, and migrant workers in Singapore.
