Dear Fellow Seletarians, It has been almost a year since me and my team took office in August 2021. On and off the golf course, the year has been a challenging one. In that time, COVID-19 continued to disrupt and pose challenges. Throughout 2021, we were hit by the tightening of restrictions on multiple occasions which forced the Club to quickly adapt. I am happy to say that the management and staff have proven themselves adept enough to manage the challenges even though some of the measures adopted inevitably caused inconvenience to members. In this regard, I thank members for your understanding and support. CHANGES AT THE CLUB The current MC team took office in August 2021 and from the start we were all aligned in our mission to make Seletar a better place, improve member-experience and raise the stature of our beloved Club. Members would have noticed that much renovation works are being carried out in the Club. Some of these are to improve upon old and tired facilities while others are to introduce new and exciting ones such as a Chinese restaurant, a Japanese restaurant , a whiskey and wine shop,

a classy Members’ lounge etc. Apart from these changes, the Club is also embarking on initiatives to transitioning from archaic manual systems of work to digitalized ones to improve efficiency and interactions with members. On the financial front, after the renewal of the lease of the land upon which the Club sits and after the renovation of the golf course, the Club’s financial position was very tight. The ravages by COVID-19 compounded the situation. Now, nearly a year later, we are in a much stronger position to withstand any uncertainties that may come our way. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The Annual General Meeting is around the corner. As soon as the necessary preparatory works are complete, the Management will send out the notice of AGM. This forthcoming AGM will mark a full year since the current MC were elected to office. Thank you for all your support and understanding as me and my team continue with our efforts to reinvent our beloved Club. KELVIN CHIA Chairman

Dear sir/mdm, My name is Marvin, and I am a Member at Seletar Country Club. I would like to bring to your attention to acknowledge the integrity I witnessed from 2 of your staff, Mr. Goh Choon Seah and Mr. T Murthy. They found my golf pouch on 27 February 2022 around 7pm and Mr. Murthy immediately contacted me the same evening. In my bag was cash that I would have lost and items that would have been inconvenient to replace. I would hereby like to thank them again for finding my pouch and their honesty to return the bag.
Mery is excellent! She is conscientious, considerate and has magical hands that really heal you regardless of your ailments. I am very happy to have experienced her therapy. I look forward to many more treatments with her in the future. Thank you Mery!

NEW UNIFORMS Seletar Country Club staff members have started wearing new uniforms since Monday, 11 April 2022.
The new look is streamlined to be bold, symbolic, and unified to present a modern and relevant take on the storied history of Seletar Country Club. The redesigned uniforms come in 5 different colors – with each color designed to represent separate job roles within the Club. It is breathable, comfortable yet robust, making it suitable for delivery work in Singapore’s humid climate.
SERVICE TRAINING It doesn’t matter what type of establishment you’re in; whether it’s a hotel, supermarket or a restaurant, the impression the staff you’ve employed leave on the customers determines whether they’ll be returning, or whether they’ll be taking their business elsewhere. Essentially, the staff on the floor are the face of the brand and customers rely on them to receive assistance whenever they need it.
With the above in mind, Seletar Country Club always makes it a point to ensure our staff receive adequate training. Recently, we conducted a 2-day service training for frontliners on Monday, 28 March and Tuesday, 29 March 2022. The appointed trainers had a ball of a time guiding and teaching our staff, who were all very eager participants. They are keen to attend more of such training courses in the future, which is very heartening to see.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY The International Women’s Day event was held on Tuesday, 8 March 2022 with a total of 71 participants. As the name implies, it was organized to celebrate International Women’s Day. The format of play was “Team Stableford”, with the teams “Yellow Aranda” and “Vanda” pitted against each other. “Vanda” emerged as the winning team with 478 points. We were blessed with pristine weather on the course and all the participants had the time of their lives. Due to prevailing safe management measures, dinner was consumed on an individual basis. During the prize ceremony, members remained at their respective tables whilst we conducted a digital lucky draw. Prizes were handed out on the following day at the Golf Office. We received a dinner door gift (bottle of wine) donated by Ms. Jenny Ong (a non-member), snack packs for the game prepared by the Ladies Sub-Committee (LSC), curry buns from Old Chang Kee provided by Mr. William Lim (member) while more door gifts and wines for dinner were contributed by Mr. Melvyn Leong (member). Many thanks to our sponsors for their respective contributions to the event.

For the first time, we managed to field 5 teams to participate in the Singapore Tennis Association (STA) Inter-Club Singles League that took place from March to April 2022 – a historic first for Seletar Country Club. The 5 teams fielded are the Men’s (2 teams), Ladies, Junior Under10’s, and Junior Under-12’s. This is also the first time that STA has opened up categories for the juniors. Our juniors were beyond excited to finally be able to participate and showcase their highly vaunted skills on a competitive level. In summary, what a spectacular effort by all teams who fought hard for victory. Once the results are out, we will provide updates on who the winning teams are.
TENNIS CAMP We organized our seasonal Tennis Camp from Monday, 14 March to Friday, 18 March 2022 during the annual March School Holidays. The Tennis Camp has always been well attended and this year saw 8 junior participants gather together over 5 days to sharpen their game whilst engaging in a series of meaningful activities to encourage camaraderie with one another. Everyone, from the coaches to the participants themselves, had a ball of a time. For some of them, attending the camp was certainly the highlight of their weeklong break from school. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the Tennis Camp next year!

The 8 and 9 Pin Tap Fun Bowl was a highly anticipated event that took place on Saturday, 26 and Sunday, 27 March 2022. Since the start of the pandemic over 2 years ago, this was the Seletar bowling fraternity’s first event, apart from the league. This fun bowling tournament allows the bowler to score a strike if he/she knocks down 8 or 9 pins, depending on the category. Over the 2 days, our bowlers competed fiercely against each other to see who could get the highest score. The excitement in the air was palpable and the camaraderie on show was truly magnificent to behold.
BRISK WALKING AT GOLF COURSE
The Brisk Walks at the Golf Course have always been a universally popular activity at Seletar Country Club. It offers participants an unprecedented look (especially for nongolfers) at the award winning Golf Course. Our last Brisk Walk at the Golf Course activity happened on Tuesday, 15 March 2022. A total of 26 participants turned up, despite the heavy torrential rain which thankfully cleared just before the walk started. Compared to past walks, the group took a different and longer route of 4km this time round that encompassed mainly undulating terrain. As every walk offers potentially different views of the Golf course, we encourage members to join us for each edition of this activity. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the next Brisk Walking activity.

CONEY ISLAND
BEACH CLEANUP Taking part in a beach clean-up is one way to keep the beaches and the environment healthy for everyone to enjoy. To promote Values in Action for us to care for the beaches, we organized a Beach Cleanup at Coney Island on Saturday, 19 March 2022. On the day,
a total of 11 participants came down bright and early to Coney Island to embark on the cleanup. They were split into groups of 2 to clean up both Beaches A and B. While scouring the beaches for trash, plenty of interesting items were found washed ashore. This included fabric, softener bottles, nets and even a golfing glove. At the end of the activity, our participants understood the importance of taking ownership of our beaches, reflecting on their how own habits and actions affect Singapore’s cleanliness. We thank our participants for joining us on this meaningful day.
Understood the importance of taking ownership of our beaches.
