ESSENTIAL NATURE OF CLASSIFICATION Under close direction, incumbents in this class perform a diverse range of office tasks, which require limited work experience. The incumbent will train in internal ad external customer service skills, telephone etiquette, computer and word processing skills, office machines, and other standard office processes and procedures. This position is designed to provide trainee with the basic office skills that will prepare them for more advanced clerical positions within the Authority and/or external entry-level clerical positions.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES The following are representative examples of the essential duties performed by incumbents of this classification. Not all incumbents necessarily perform each and every duty listed below, and may be required to perform other related duties, as assigned. Answers agency telephone calls; transfers calls and/or takes accurate and detailed messages. Receives, screens, directs and routes visitors and mail, as needed. Performs clerical activities and other office related tasks Performs routine office tasks and assists other SFHA employees Operates office equipment, including basic computer email and word processing operations Provides excellent customer service All other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE – Ability to: Follow simple oral instructions; work cooperatively with others; perform tasks appropriate for specific jobs to which assigned. SKILLS – Must have telephone skills, accurate file and record keeping skills; basic math skills; basic typing or computer skills. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE – Applicants under 18 years of age must posses an appropriate work permit required by California State Employment Code. As a condition of continued employment, all incumbents must obtain a high school diploma or G.E.D. certification within one year of employment in the classification. PHYSICAL DEMANDS – Mobility and manual dexterity to work in a standard office environment and use standard office equipment; vision to read handwritten and printed material and a computer monitor; hearing and speech to communicate in-person and by telephone; ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds such as files, books or boxes of paper, forms or other supplies for distances up to 50 feet.
