As this disconnection is down to the lack of social LQWHUDFWLRQ EHWZHHQ WKH ORFDO RI /RQJWRQ EXW LQFUHDVLQJ this interaction, longton can regain it self as a working community once more.

Massing Iterations Taking the Organogram I used them to help generate initial adjacency massing aid in visualising a IRUP IRU WKH EXLOGLQJ ZKLFK GXH WR WKLV LV GHSLFWHG E\ WKH URRPV DQG WKHUH RULHQWDWLRQ

The mass represents four evenly GLVWULEXWHG VWRULHV LW WKH EXLOGLQJ ZDV WR EH RQH PDVV ULVLQJ IRXU stories. This is to do with, that the total schedule of accommodation adds up to a footprint of 3668m2.

To do this type of massing, I’ll cutting out the rooms at a 1-­500 scale, and organising them in a way WKDW , Ă€QG ZRXOG EH EHQHĂ€FLDO WR WKH EXLOGLQJ SURFHVV 7KHQ WKH PDVVLQJ ZRXOG EH FXW RXW JDLQ DQG fastened with glue to give an indication of the overall form

Using Pixar atrium idea, in applying it to my design, I’ll start out with a cylindrical shape to represent the area circulation, with the room dotted around . The Progression of the form is shown on the sheet.

Looking at the design again, I would rather have the cinema more apparent along the facade rather than having it half hidden away E\ WKH WUDQVSDUHQW FRQFUHWH WKLV LV ZD\ P\ LQWHQW ZDV WR JR ZLWK D IXOO JOD]HG IDFDGH 7KLV ZDV WKH FLQHPD FDQ EH VHHQ H[WHUQDO E\ DOO moving along Caroline street that run in front the site. I also though to take this glazing and wrap it on the spin, creating three unique LGHQWLWLHV RI WKH EXLOGLQJ WKH 6SLQ JOD]LQJ DQG REMHFW $V WKH JOD]LQJ ZLOO EH QRUWK IDFLQJ WKLV LV PDNLQJ XVH RI WKH FRRO GLIIXVH OLJKWLQJ ZKLFK PHDQV WKHUH ZLOO EH QR QHHG IRU FRQWUROOLQJ HOHPHQWV DV WKH EXLOGLQJ ZLOO QRW JHW RYHU KHDWHG

The other UHDVRQ ZRXOG EH WKH SKRWR YROWDLF FHOOV HPEHGGHG LQWR WKH JODVV 7KH DGYDQWDJH of this is that while it’s protecting from VRODU JDLQ RQ WKH Ă \ LW¡V DOVR LQWHUQDOO\ JHQHUDWLQJ HOHFWULFLW\ IRU WKH EXLOGLQJ reducing the strain on from other sources.

7KH W\SH RI JOD]LQJ WKDW ZLOO EH XVHG RQ WKH IDFDGH ZLOO EH KDQVHQ WKHUPRVSDQ VWUXFWXUDO JOD]LQJ V\VWHP 7KH IUDPHOHVV Ă€QLVK RIIHUV IRU D Ă XVKHG Ă€QLVK PD[LPLVLQJ RQ GD\OLJKW LQWDNH 7KH ERWWRP VHFWLRQ LVQ¡W FRYHUHG E\ WKH louvres, the reason this is that the need isn’t there as that section of the glazing ZLOO EH VKDGHG E\ WKH H[WHUQDO HDWLQJ DUHD and the viaduct.

$V WKH\ KDYH YDULHG VHOHFWLRQV WKH RQH ,¡OO EH XVLQJ IRU WKLV GHVLJQ LV WKH WKHUPRVSDQ WULSOH skin insulating glass unit which has a U value of 0.8 W/m2. 7KH JOD]LQJ ZLOO EH PP WKLFN RQ either side with a 12mm insulating cavity. The inner pane is a 20mm heat soaked toughened glass for that increased thermal property.

$V WKLV VLGH RI WKH EXLOGLQJ ZLOO EH JHWWLQJ WKH IXOO LQWHQVLW\ RI WKH VXQ HVSHFLDOO\ GXULQJ WKH summer this is why I this section is fully louvred.

7KH JOD]LQJ LW VXSSRUWHG E\ WKH XVH RI VSLGHU EUDFNHWV WKDW DUH WKHQ DWWDFKHG WR JODVV ÀQV 7KH UHDVRQ , XVHG JODVV ÀQV WKDW WKH E\ EHLQJ JODVV LW has the transparent properties which prevents the EORFNLQJ RI GD\OLJKW WUDQVPLVVLRQV $OVR LW KHOSV WR maintain the continuos facade feel.
