The Hispanic/Latino Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (H/LBH CoE) is pleased to announce the H/L Behavioral Health Policy Academy 2025 Up to 10 Hispanic/Latine students pursing a bachelor’s degree or graduate studies in psychology, counseling, social work, public health or related fields will be selected to be part of the Academy to complete a practicum, capstone or end of year project. We are looking for students who are excited about Hispanic/Latine mental and behavioral health, policy and public issues and promoting change interested in:
• Supporting states and nonprofits organizations in crafting a public policy plan with multisectoral stakeholders’ collaboration, • Facilitating and moderating public policy discussions among partners and collaborators, • Offering administrative and coordination support for a public policy academy, • Learning new knowledge from public policy experts and, • becoming a future provider and mentor regarding public policy issues.
In addition to completing your project, students will: • Received a $500 stipend at the beginning and end of your project ($1,000 per student) • Get paid air fares, lodging and per diem for in-person academy assistance. • Obtain support from your advisor/ supervisor, since it is required that a professor from your university and concentration commits to support you during the project. • Perform tasks related with the planning and implementation of the public policy academy of the Hispanic/Latino Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (https://hispaniclatinobehavioralhealth org/) funded by SAMHSA The Center’s mission is to advance and support the sustainability of behavioral health equity by promoting communitydriven, culturally grounded, and person-centered prevention, intervention, multiple pathways of recovery, and recovery support for diverse Hispanic and Latine communities
