New Jersey is home to 120,000 Hispanic and Latino-owned businesses which in turn create thousands of jobs and generate billions of dollars in tax revenues. In 2018, the GDP of Latinos in the Garden State was $97 billion. Despite these numbers, Latinos still struggle to obtain capital to launch their businesses and few Latinos sit on the boards of major corporations.

The Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of NJ (SHCCNJ) will hold its Annual Awards Gala on December 2nd, 2022, at the Pines Manor in Edison, New Jersey. The event will kick off with a fantastic cocktail reception followed by an awards presentation honoring the remarkable contributions made by the business, civic, and community leaders. “It has been an amazing year of many milestones for our Chamber, and we are excited to celebrate with all who contributed to our familia’s success,” said Luis De La Hoz, Chairman. The Awards Gala will celebrate another strong year for the fastest-growing minority business group in the state. Earlier this month, we hosted a #HispanicHeritageMonth panel discussion with a diverse set of professionals to discuss some of the challenges and issues faced by the Hispanic community.
The conversation focused on the contributions to, the current needs of, and embracing role models in the community.

Thirty volunteers traveled to the Roberto Gilbert Children’s Hospital in Guayaquil, Ecuador from September 10-17 to provide complex urological surgeries on children probono. The talented team, led by Dr. Richard Schlussel, worked tirelessly to dramatically improve the lives of forty children and their families. “After a two and a half year pause to the Medical Teams Abroad Program due to the pandemic this was an especially uplifting trip,” said Dr. Schlussel. HTCNJ partnered with Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City where faculty and students shot a docuseries of the medical mission.
