SHCCNJ in the News IMMIGRANT HELPS PROMOTE SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT IN MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ Luis DeLaHoz was granted asylum and moved to the United States in 2004. By 2005, he was running his own-income tax preparation business in New Brunswick.

And he had drive. But those alone are not enough to start a business. Fortunately, DeLaHoz also had access to start-up capital and networks and English-language competency—the very ingredients, he would later learn, that new Americans often lack.

950 Earthquakes have hit Puerto Rico so far this year Since 2017, New Jersey for Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief has evolved into New Jersey for Puerto Rico Relief in order to recognize the new existence that Puerto Rico finds itself, not only from natural disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes but also the actuality of economic and social disruption.

Among the continuing challenges since Hurricane Maria impacted Puerto Rico is the completion of autopsies. The RWJBarnabas Health Global Health team partnered with the University of Puerto Rico to answer the call for assistance, establishing an academic program that helps provide much-needed closure to families and establish community resiliency.

It's skills-based volunteerism, aligned with RWJBarnabas Health's Social Impact and Community Investment practice. This video highlights our recent five-day mission, during which medical residents from Saint Barnabas Medical Center helped to perform autopsies daily, ultimately returning individuals to their families for burial, reducing the caseload and, long-term, laying the grounds for a new forensic medicine program.

We are calling all women business owners, to take their business to the next level. Walking Into Destiny is a program designed to elevate your thinking and change your life. Women helping Women….. Motivating, Collaborating, Educating !!! Hope to see you there.
