We are trying to raise funds for a seventeen boy from the Dominican Republic, Carlos Reynoso, who is in desperate need of leg prostheses. Born with severe deformities of his lower extremities and undergoing bilateral leg disarticulations at eighteen months old at Trinitas Hospital in 2005, Carlos has been treated and cared for through our International Inbound Program ever since. Healing the Children New Jersey is committed to sticking with its cases until a child reaches adulthood no matter how long and expensive the journey. Carlos came back for evaluation and adjustments to his leg prostheses in 2007 and 2009 and for new leg prostheses and physical therapy in 2010. Five years later, at the age of twelve, Carlos was treated by Peter Buffington, owner of Achilles Prosthetics & Orthotics in Ramsey, where he received new prostheses at a huge discount. Due for his final pair of adult-sized prostheses, Peter has generously agreed to provide Carlos with bilateral above-the-knee prosthetics built for a K3 level (an unlimited community ambulator) at a fifty percent discount at $20,500. We are hoping to raise funds one last time for Carlos so that he can continue functioning independently and live his life to the fullest. He and his family are grateful to his surgeons, prosthetists, Host Family, and donors for all of the medical treatment and love he has received over the years. Is there any opportunity to share Carlos' story with your membership? All contributions can be made by visiting our website at htcnj.org or mail to Healing the Children NJ, 112 Fifth Avenue, Hawthorne, NJ 07506. We intend to publicize all organizations that donate on our website, social media, and local newspapers.
