Jersey City Medical Center (JCMC), an affiliate of RWJBarnabas Health, the leading academic health system in New Jersey, welcomes Carlos Lejnieks, the CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson & Union Counties, as the hospital’s new board chair. Lejnieks has served on the JCMC board since 2011. From 2014 to 2017, he was chair of the medical center’s Quality Assessment & Risk Management Committee. Lejnieks is the first person of Latinx heritage to serve as the Chair of the Jersey City Medical Center Board of Trustees. MORE

There are not many restaurants in New Jersey that can testify to the fact that they are a favorite of rock legend Bruce Springsteen the way Chilangos in Highlands can. “I came into contact with Bruce’s personal chef, Jacob Varela, after a chance meeting in my restaurant in 2000,” said Leo Cervantes, owner of the Mexican restaurant. “Jacob invited me to his birthday party where Bruce would make an appearance. I met him and he told me that he was starting a tequila collection. He liked the selection I had in my restaurant and was very impressed with the types that I carried at that time. MORE
