...............................................................................................................................................................................................

There’s nothing really pressing on my mind today. The sky is a beautiful bright blue, the sun is shining, the flowers are in full bloom and, yes, the birds are singing right outside my window. I know, it’s like a Disney movie. As much as I might normally want to roll my eyes at how cliché that is, it’s hard to do that when it’s all in such perfect harmony. Yes, my darlings, it’s spring! And aside from temperatures here in South Florida pushing the high eighties and the fact that it hasn’t rained in like three weeks, nature is bringing me almost complete perfection outside my window. Today, I am reminded of how lucky we really are. Yes, we’ve had some bad weather for a couple of months, but nothing that even remotely compares to the loss and suffering that the people in Haiti and Japan continue to endure. Looking out at the park-like setting in my community of homes, I cannot even begin to imagine how I would feel if it were nothing more than a pile of rubble—a mangled reminder of all the life lost. It’s so easy for us to become consumed with our day-to-day nonsense. The car with a flat tire. The traffic on the highway. Last night’s disagreement over the kid, money or sex. The slow Internet connection. The Tupperware lids that accidentally got thrown away. I could go on and on…seriously. These things can take us from a great to grumpy in the blink of an eye. But when you stop, think and put it all into perspective it all seems so petty in comparison to what others are going through. We seem to put so much energy into deciding whether to see the glass as half-full or half-empty, that most of the time we don’t realize that if you put our glasses next to someone in Japan, Haiti or any number of other places where tragedy has occurred, our glasses are pretty darn full. So, this month, take the time to look around you with a little perspective. Go outside and see all the beauty around you. Plant some flowers. Kiss your beloveds and be thankful you have them to disagree with. Leave a few minutes early so the traffic doesn’t bother you. Use the Gladware…literally and figuratively. Soak up every minute of your Disney movie and make sure you acknowledge everyone and everything in the credits. See you next month!

Pricilla Queen of the Desert The Musical, now on Broadway, is the feel-good theatrical experience of the year! Based on the smash-hit movie, Priscilla is the heartwarming, uplifting adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus, searching for love and friendship, and end up finding more than they could have ever dreamed of. With a dazzling array of outrageous costumes and a hit parade of dance-floor favorites, this wildly fresh and funny new musical is a journey to the heart of fabulous! See it at the Palace New York Theater. Powerhouse Producers include Bette Midler.

Britney Spears’ seventh studio album, Femme Fatale, is now on the shelves and airwaves. The iconic global superstar’s title, Femme Fatale, is a tribute to bold, empowered, confident, elusive, fun, flirty women and men. It’s not a conceptual album, Spears is letting the music speak for itself. She’s worked hard on it for two years and she considers it to be her “best album to date,” true to where she is now personally and professionally. She most recently set a new oneday precedent for single sales with her current No. 1 hit song, “Hold It Against Me.”

The go-to place for the best and latest lesbian short films is back with Here Come The Girls 3 on DVD. Hosting nine awardwinning short films from Sundance to Frameline to Outfest and many more celebrated film festivals, this collection comes packed with a rich variety of shorts that will either have you laughing till you cry, weeping with joy or warming to a bittersweet tale. Short films included: Public Relations - (USA); Trophy - (USA); Birthday - (Sweden);Looking For - (USA); Lucha – (USA); Mosa - (UK); Organism – (USA); Fresh Air Therapy - (Germany); I Am Jin Young - (Korea).

Lisa Lampanelli is known for her off-the-cuff humor and harshly brilliant quips at other’s expense. Now, Lampanelli shows that she is giving love a chance in her new CD and DVD release, Tough Love, available on April 5. Leave it to the Queen of Mean to take the joys out of romance and “I Love You’s” and twist it into an opportunity of in-your-face insults and hilariously inappropriate stories. Tough Love wrapsup with Lampanelli’s first “The Roast of the Worthless Americans,” an appropriate kick-youwhere-it-hurts roast at pop culture’s favorite love-to-hate celebrities like Kate Gosselin, Paris Hilton, the cast of Jersey and many more.

Coming to the big screen (and Big Top) on April 22 is Water for Elephants, starring Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz. Set during the Great Depression, veterinary student, Jacob Jankowski, abandons his studies after his parents are killed in a car accident. Taking up with a thirdrate traveling circus, his bond with a difficult animal begins to turn the show around, though his feelings for the star performer prove dangerous since she’s also the wife of the sadistic ringmaster. While not one of the romantic comedies we’ve come to love from Reese, this dramatic role looks enticing.

Jennifer Hudson has just released her sophomore album, I Remember Me. The album’s first single, “Where You At,” was written and produced by R. Kelly. The album title is based on a poem written by Jennifer and composed into a beautiful song that is featured on the album. Additional writers and producers on the album include Alicia Keys and Ne-Yo. ”I’m excited about this album because it’s almost like a renewal for me, reflected through the chapters of my life,” comments Jennifer. “I’ve called it I Remember Me because of the journey I’ve been on. I’ve learned that life constantly surprises you...”

[

NOT TO BE MISSED: Madea’s Big Happy Family, starring Tyler Perry, Loretta Devine and more. In this new installment of Tyler Perry tales, Madea helps her niece Shirley (Devine) rally her five preoccupied children so they can be informed about their mother’s health diagnosis.

IN THE NEWS >COLORADO SENATE PASSES CIVIL UNIONS BILL THE BILL WILL NEXT BE CONSIDERED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, commended the Colorado Senate for passing a comprehensive civil unions bill. The legislation passed by a 23 to 12 vote, and now moves to the House of Representatives. “Legislators in Colorado have taken an important action to advance equality for all Coloradans,” said HRC President Joe Solmonese. “We call on the Colorado House to swiftly follow the Senate’s lead on this crucial legislation.” SB 127, introduced by Senator Pat Steadman, would allow both same-sex and opposite-sex couples to enter into civil unions giving couples all of the rights, benefits, and obligations of marriage under state law, but would not allow same-sex couples to obtain marriage licenses. Currently, five states have laws providing an expansive form of statelevel relationship recognition for same-sex couples, without offering marriage. California, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, and Washington provide same-sex couples with access to almost of all the state level benefits and responsibilities of marriage, through either civil unions or domestic partnerships. Earlier this year, the governors of Hawaii and Illinois signed into law civil unions bills. Couples in Illinois can begin applying for civil union licenses on June 1, 2011 and in Hawaii couples can begin applying on January 1, 2012. Same-sex couples do not receive federal rights and benefits in any state. State recognizes out-of-jurisdiction marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples as valid marriages and recognizes out-of-jurisdiction registered civil unions or domestic partnerships as valid civil unions or domestic partnership (2 states and D.C.) New York*, Vermont, and Washington, D.C.

STONEWALL UPRISING TO PREMIERE ON PBS On June 28, 1969, the gay community experienced what one Village Voice reporter who was on the scene called its “Rosa Parks moment,” when the N.Y.P.D. raided a Mafia-run gay bar, the Stonewall Inn. For the first time ever, patrons refuse to be led into paddy wagons, setting off a violent three-day uprising that launched the gay rights movement. Told through interviews with Stonewall patrons, reporters and the policeman who led the raid, Stonewall Uprising recalls the fervently hostile climate that gays were forced to live in, when public service announcements warned youngsters against predatory homosexuals, respected news outlets reported on the “homosexual problem,” and police entrapment was rampant. Being arrested could cost one their livelihood since licenses to teach, practice law or medicine or even cosmetology, were frequently denied or revoked. Based on David Carter’s Stonewall: The Riots that Sparked the Gay Revolution, Kate Davis and David Heilbroner’s Stonewall Uprising will premiere on the PBS series American Experience on Monday, April 25 at 9P ET (check local listings).

State recognizes out-of-jurisdiction marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples as valid marriages, but will not recognize other forms of relationship recognition (5 states) Connecticut, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. State recognizes out-of-jurisdiction marriages and civil unions or domestic partnerships as a valid civil union or domestic partnership (3 states) California*, New Jersey, Oregon*. State recognizes out-of-jurisdiction civil union or domestic partnership as a valid civil union or domestic partnership (1 state) Washington.

“WHILE EVEN ONE DISCHARGE UNDER THE DISCRIMINATORY ‘DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL’ LAW IS TOO MANY, THE 2010 NUMBERS REPRESENT A MARKED DECLINE FROM YEARS BEFORE. BUT THESE NUMBERS UNDERSCORE THE NEED TO ACCELERATE THE TIMELINE FOR TRAINING AND REPEAL. THE REALITY IS THAT INVESTIGATIONS CONTINUE AND SERVICE MEMBERS ARE STILL IN DANGER OF BEING DISCHARGED. WE LOOK FORWARD TO CERTIFICATION BY SECRETARY GATES, CHAIRMAN MULLEN, AND THE PRESIDENT AS WE MOVE TOWARD FULL REPEAL. UNTIL WE ACHIEVE FULL EQUALITY FOR ALL LGBT SERVICE MEMBERS, THE JOB IS NOT DONE.” —Army Veteran and Servicemembers Legal Defense Network Executive Director Aubrey Sarvis regarding 2010 “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Discharge Numbers

WHAT

IMMIGRATION EQUALITY

WHERE

HAILS GOVERMENT DECISION ALLOWING

gay & lesbian couples to file green card applications Immigration Equality, the national experts on immigration rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, hailed an announcement from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that the agency will allow Americans with spouses from abroad to apply for green cards while courts weigh constitutional challenges to the federal Defense of Marriage Act. “USCIS has issued guidance to the field,” USCIS Spokesman Christopher Bentley announced, “asking that related cases be held in abeyance while awaiting final guidance related to distinct legal issues.” “This statement is the first domino to fall for LGBT Americans with foreign national spouses,” said Rachel B. Tiven, the group’s executive director. “As Immigration Equality noted in our letters to both the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice, we believe that no spousal application should be denied until DOMA’s constitutionality is settled. Immigration Equality has been fighting for LGBT immigrant families since 1994. In that time we have counseled more than 10,000 families – and for them, this news is a sign that relief is finally on the way.” Late last month, Immigration Equality’s legal team filed a green card application on behalf of Edwin Blesch, an American citizen, and Tim Smulian, his South African husband. Despite being legally married in South Africa – a marriage recognized in Edwin’s home state of New York – the couple has struggled to remain together. Edwin struggles with failing health and increasingly depends on Tim as his primary caretaker. The couple joined Immigration Equality in hailing the announcement. “Every day, we live with the very real possibility that, despite following every law and every policy of the United States, Tim will be forced to leave the country, and I will be left without my caretaker and the love of my life,” Blesch said in a statement. “This news gives us great relief, and great hope that we may soon be able to put that worry behind us. For the first time, we can begin to plan the rest of our lives together without fear that we will be torn apart.” Couples who believe they may be impacted by this decision are encouraged to contact Immigration Equality’s legal team for free, confidential advice at www.immigrationequality.org/ contactus.php. Immigration Equality is a national organization that works to end discrimination in U.S. immigration law, to reduce the negative impact of that law on the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV-positive people, and to help obtain asylum for those persecuted in their home country based on their sexual orientation, transgender identity or HIV-status. Through education, outreach, advocacy, and the maintenance of a nationwide network of resources, we provide information and support to advocates, attorneys, politicians and those who are threatened by persecution or the discriminatory impact of the law.

BY TINA SORDELLINI PHOTO FRANK OCKENFELS USA NETWORK

Most of us got our first glimpse of Sarah Shahi when she joined the cast of The L Word as the sexy DJ, Carmen De La Pica Morales. Viewers worldwide went crazy for Carmen. But these days, Sarah Shahi has taken on a couple of new roles. The first is as mother to her son William, born in July 2009. The second is as lawyer turned mediator in the USA Network series, Fairly Legal. At press time, there had been no word yet as to whether the show would be back for a second season, as the season one finale had just aired. Yet, as a huge fan of the show, I can say with all honesty that this series puts the heart back into the concept of the justice system, and Sarah puts all the heart into the show. I recently had the opportunity to chat with this beauty, of Spanish and Iranian descent, about the show and more.

It was a business deal. Had they asked to extend, who knows what would have happened.

and what’s charming about her.

AUDITION PROCESS. DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU WERE UP AGAINST FOR THE LEAD IN THE SERIES, FAIRLY LEGAL?

I was on my way to a movie premiere with Steve and that’s when I got the phone call from my agents and managers. It was a huge moment for a few reasons: it was our first date night in a long time and it was the beginning of me playing one of my favorite characters ever. I didn’t scream, but I remember being incredibly happy. Almost calm in a way. Everything just felt right.

No, I don’t know who I was up against. There were a lot of girls that auditioned. Some I recognized, some I didn’t. I know Christina Applegate passed on it, so thank you, Christina! WERE YOU WORRIED THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING THE SERIES BECAUSE OF YOUR PREVIOUS ROLE ON THE L WORD?

Absolutely not! Why would it be difficult? I’m proud of The L Word and I’ve had tons of jobs in between. It’s always shown me in a wonderful light. A somewhat controversial one, but I like it that way. BESIDES KARINA LOMBARD’S CHARACTER (MARINA FERRER) IN THE L WORD, YOUR CHARACTER CARMEN DE LA PICA MORALES WAS ALSO ONE OF THE ONES THE VIEWERS/FANS WANTED TO KEEP UNTIL THE END OF THE SERIES. I READ ONLINE THAT YOU DIDN’T WANT TO SIGN FOR ANOTHER SEASON AND THAT IS WHY THE CHARACTER WAS NO LONGER. IS THAT INFORMATION RIGHT OR WAS THERE MORE TO IT THAT YOU CAN NOW SHARE?

Nope, that’s completely false information. My contract was always two years. Ilene and I knew it going in that it was only going to last that long.

Every now and then I bump into Erin Daniels, which is always a welcome surprise. We had babies around the same time, so we always talk about our kids. I’ll write Kate on Twitter. It’s hard though. Everyone has such different lives. Everyone has moved on. DID YOU HAVE THE TIME TO WATCH THE REAL L WORD? IF SO, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

First off, I don’t have time to watch anything! If there are spare moments in my life, they come around 9:30 pm when Wolf goes to sleep and my pillow is beckoning. GOING BACK TO FAIRLY LEGAL, WHAT WERE YOU DOING WHEN YOU GOT WORD THAT YOU

I’VE BEEN WATCHING THE SHOW CONSISTENTLY SINCE THE PILOT EPISODE, WHICH HAD THIS REALLY CHARMING CONNECTION TO THE WIZARD OF OZ. I NOTICED THAT IN SUBSEQUENT EPISODES THAT CONNECTION SEEMED ALMOST NON-EXISTENT. WHY DO YOU THINK THEY BACKED OFF FROM USING IT?

Finances! That’s it. We’d use it every episode if we had the money. Hopefully for Season 2 they’ll give us a raise! WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE CAST YOU ARE WORKING WITH ON THE SERIES?

Everyone is so different—Virginia, Baron, Michael and Ethan. From who they are as people to their acting styles. It’s a unique bunch. We love each other and hate each other at the same time. It’s real. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THIS ROLE?

I love the childlike qualities Kate has. Emotionally and professionally, she can come across as immature. She’s Dorothy and the tornado at the same time. It’s what’s annoying about her

WHAT, IF ANYTHING, DID YOU DO TO RE-

I never spoke to any mediators about the show. To me, that’s not what the show is centered on. It’s centered on Kate’s heart. That’s what I had to have going into shooting. IN WHAT WAYS ARE YOU MOST LIKE THE CHARACTER OF KATE REED?

We’re both very flirty, very unapologetic people. We both love life and would rather laugh than cry! Umm, we’re both drunks! {Laughs} No, but we’re both spontaneous as well. IN WHAT WAYS ARE YOU LEAST LIKE HER?

She’s very immature. The way she handles her stepmom, her father’s death, her ex husband. She can’t confront them. She can’t confront herself even. I’m the opposite. I’m a mother and a wife. All I do is confront. All day long. Sometimes it is nice to step into Kate’s shoes and not have to feel so together. WHICH OF THE STORYLINES SO FAR DID YOU FEEL THE MOST CONNECTED TO AND WHY?

Well, pretty much most of Kate’s personal issues I can relate to. I’ve had boyfriends that I knew I had to let go, but I just couldn’t because of a multitude of reasons. I’ve had bosses and coworkers that I’ve hated and had to answer to and I’ve experienced losses that were hard to confront. Not on a level that Kate has to deal with, but they were still losses. USA ADDED A NEW SPIN TO FAN PARTICIPATION BY BEGINNING “ASK KATE REED,” FOR TWITTER AND ANDROID. ARE YOU INVOLVED AT ALL IN THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS AND WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE OVERALL CONCEPT?

I’m not involved in any of the Tweets. I think it’s a brilliant concept and part of why USA is such a powerhouse. They’re marketing geniuses. WITH ONE SEASON FINALE UNDER YOUR BELT, WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO SEE FOR THE SERIES (AND KATE) IN THE NEXT SEASON?

Well, first of all, I hope there is a season two! As of now, we still don’t know. But I hope a possible love interest gets thrown in between

4/11

3/30/2011, 3:21 PM

Kate and Justin. For either one of them. I hope its Russell Crowe and it’s for me. I definitely don’t want to see Kate evolve in anyway. I think it’s fun to watch her wiggle, and I like her when she’s struggling. She’s a good character that way. WHAT WERE YOUR FAVORITES AS A KID?

I dream of Jeannie. I wanted to be Jeannie. I would pray to God every night that he would put a bottle in my drawer and I swore I would use my powers for good. I also loved Gomer Pyle. I fell in love with his naiveté. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOWS NOW?

The Walking Dead, American Idol, Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Elmo. AS A TEENAGER, WHAT ACTRESS DID YOU MOST WANT TO BE LIKE WHEN YOU GREW UP?

Well, I had a strange infatuation by Tom Hanks. I was charmed by him. I wanted him to be my father, my boyfriend, my best friend, pretty much everything! I was so taken by him at such a young age. Also Katherine Hepburn. She had this effect when she came on screen. I wanted that as a kid. Still do! IF YOU WEREN’T ACTING, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING AS A CAREER?

I’d either be a singer or a neurosurgeon. Yup, I know. NOT MANY READERS KNOW THAT YOU SPEAK PERSIAN AND SOME SPANISH, AND HAVE A BROWN BELT IN KARATE. THEY MIGHT ALSO NOT KNOW THAT YOU ADOPTED THE NAME SARAH WHILE IN SECOND GRADE BECAUSE YOU “GOT TORMENTED” BY OTHER CHILDREN. HOW DID HANDLE BEING BULLIED AT AN EARLY AGE AND HOW WOULD YOU COMPARE, IF POSSIBLE, TO GAY/LESBIAN KIDS BEING BULLIED IN SCHOOL NOW?

Me being teased for my (real) name (Aahoo Jahansouz Shahi) is nowhere near what it’s like to be teased for being gay. I’m not even going to pretend that I know what that’s like. As a parent, I’m ashamed that other parents are raising such ignorant, blind, insensitive children. I think the kids should absolutely tell their parents and let them get

involved. It’s our responsibility as a society to help shape the kids that will shape the future. Just stay strong. You are wonderful, perfect no matter what your sexual orientation. F*ck those assh*les! Don’t let their ignorance invade your soul! GETTING A BIT MORE PERSONAL, HOW HAS MARRIED LIFE AND MOTHERHOOD CHANGED YOUR LIFE?

Oh wow, it’s changed me completely. Do you have four hours? I’m a

more passionate person. My beliefs, my values, even my time are things that I hold in much bigger esteem than before. I’m definitely a more emotional person. I’ve learned how to prioritize. The most important things are my family. Everything else is second. Sleep is third. For more on Sarah and Fairly Legal : usanetwork.com/series/fairlylegal and www.sarahshahi.com. The week continues to grow year by year with newly added events that continue to enhance its wide appeal. With fourteen cultural events, and unique parties to satisfy an array of tastes, this year won’t disappoint. Celebrating a twelfth year, 100% of the proceeds of this dynamic week benefit Aqua Foundation for Women, the not-for-profit-foundation whose primary mission is to serve as a funding catalyst for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender wellness and equality in South Florida through grants, scholarships, and initiatives. Every woman who attends gets to enjoy herself and do some good; helping her community by just showing up and buying her ticket. Aside from all the fabulous things to do off-site, a huge part of this week-long fete has to do with the posh accommodations. Girls can get ready to head south for some fun and relaxation and perhaps a little debauchery here and there. WANTED TO SHARE THIS VIDEO & GIVE YOU THE CHANCE to comment on this episode of OWN's Our America, Pray the Gay Away? Ann J I think she did a pretty good job trying to show all sides. We live in a great country where people are free to decide for themselves and think for themselves. Although I do not agree with the teachings of Exodus, I am glad to live in a country where even they have the freedom to express their views. Great job Lisa Ling. Kym J I watched this. I believe God made us who we are & he loves & cares for each one of us along our path. He doesn't make any mistakes. Very interesting that there is only 6 passages in Bible regarding homosexuality & people are quick to point them out but what about the rest of the bible. Maybe they should take a look at their own lives according to the Bible before they cast a stone at our lives! I think Lisa Ling is doing a great job & will continue to watch the program! Tamara J I come from a family and religion that will pray for my death because of my "sins". I do not believe I am anything less of God just because I am in love with another woman. I am from the same source as every other human being in this world! I was made in His image. I refuse to accept less or let our daughter be exposed to this sad ignorance so I send silent blessings to those in my family that suffer from the sickness of ignorance and hatred... Olga C I saw this show...fascinating that people think they can change who they are at their core...sad Jody W “There’s a tremendous variety in nature.” Search

SOY MUJER

¿MILAGRO O BLASFEMIA? MILAGRO. 1 . M. HECHO NO EXPLICABLE POR LAS LEYES NATURALES Y QUE SE ATRIBUYE A INTERVENCIÓN SOBRENATURAL DE ORIGEN DIVINO. FANÁTICO, CA. (DEL LAT. FANAT-CUS). 1 . ADJ. QUE DEFIENDE CON TENACIDAD DESMEDIDA Y APASIONAMIENTO CREENCIAS U OPINIONES, SOBRE TODO RELIGIOSAS O POLÍTICAS. BLASFEMIA. (DEL LAT. BLASPHEM-A,) 1 .

Específicamente me refiero al episodio que se llama Our America with Lisa Ling: Pray The Gay

Away?

BECOMING CHAZ CHAZ BONO DOCUMENTARY TO LAUNCH ON OWN: (OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK) FOLLOWED BY ROSIE O’DONNELL’S SPECIAL The world television premiere of the highly anticipated Chaz Bono documentary Becoming Chaz, the story of Chaz Bono’s transformation from a woman to a man, will launch the OWN Documentary Film Club on Tuesday, May 10 (8-10P ET) on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. Immediately following the film, OWN Documentary Film Club collaborator Rosie O’Donnell will host a one-hour primetime special event from 10–11P ET. In the special, O’Donnell will talk with Chaz, his girlfriend Jennifer Elia, the filmmakers and other transgender people and their families about this life changing experience. Becoming Chaz is the story of Chaz Bono’s emotional and physical gender transition, a journey of identity and self-discovery. Born Chastity, the only child of the legendary musical team Sonny and Cher, Chaz grew up feeling uncomfortable in the spotlight, struggling to live inside a body that he knew wasn’t truly his. Deciding there was no choice but to undergo sex reassignment surgery, Chaz and his girlfriend Jennifer decided to document his deeply personal transformation so that others can learn from his experience. Directed and produced by veteran Sundance filmmakers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, who along with their production company World of Wonder, have been the creative forces behind a long history of powerful, groundbreaking and innovative documentaries and features. The documentary premiered to rave reviews at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival with the Los Angeles Times calling the film “wildly engaging.” The Hollywood Reporter said, “Becoming Chaz is a real-life look inside the home and hearts of two brave and glorious individuals. Told with finesse, compassion and wit…will hit nerves and touch hearts.” AOL Moviefone called it “an engaging and educational look at one person’s journey to make his outsides match his inside,” and CNN called it “incredibly moving.” To view a trailer of the film, visit shemag.com

SHE SCOPES

WITH THE VILLAGE SAGE

AQUARIUS JAN 20 - FEB 19

LEO JULY 23 - AUG 23

There’s nothing unusual about the creative ideas that are bursting out of you. What is unusual is the response you get from those you share your vision with. Remember that it’s up to the speaker to make herself understood, not the listener to necessarily try to understand. Don’t let the skepticism of others stop you. Be prepared to make adjustments as needed. Be flexible with your timetable, budget and even opinion, and be open to other people’s good ideas.

You’ve got the planetary green light to move forward on new projects, regardless of the retrogrades. You have the magical ability to get people to follow where you lead. Have absolute faith in yourself. Don’t create stress in your world by neglecting your everyday life while enjoying the new and exciting things that are going on. Pay the proper attention to your responsibilities. Then you can have guilt-free enjoyment of everything the Universe is providing.

PISCES FEB 20 - MAR 20

VIRGO AUG 24 - SEPT 23

Don’t confuse your self-worth with your financial worth. Remember that you are the sum total of all your parts, not just your net worth. Don’t make impulsive moves in an effort to make more money. Instead, make a new budget, even while actively pursuing new opportunities. You have to get out in order to effectively network yourself, your skills and your services. It’s also a good time to enhance your skills.

You’ve got a lot going on in all areas of your life, and the current issues have deep roots in the past. While you prefer to think alone, decide alone and act alone, you must make every effort to work within a team environment. Be sure you fortify the fantasy with facts. Remember the retrograde and don’t get impulsive. That will only make everything worse. Communicate, rather than command, stick to the plan.

ARIES MAR 21 - APR 19

LIBRA SEPT 24 - OCT 23

As always, it’s all about you and the impression that you make on others. You’ll need to slow down a bit and because of the retrogrades and re-check your plans. Once you’ve started, don’t let snafus throw you off track. Slow down and make adjustments as needed. After the 23rd, you’ll be able to quickly move forward and make up for lost time. You’ll be re-energized and in a unique position to balance your past with your future.

Your relationships are on your mind and the planets are pouring fuel onto the fire. Fire can increase passion and energy or it can burn if it isn’t carefully controlled. Don’t resist change. Instead, embrace change and become part of the solutions, rather than standing apart and creating more problems. Seek a good balance. Keep your sense of humor, find fun diversions and all will be well.

TAURUS APR 20 - MAY 20

SCORPIO OCT 24 - NOV 22

Self-discovery will be on your mind, as you are more sensitive to how interactions with others make you feel. It’s important to be aware of the past but also to make a concerted effort not to repeat it. Let your imagination create a fun, productive future, even as you plod through the boring stuff. Use your charm to cajole all concerned to see things your way. Don’t push forward until after the 23rd, and then stick to your decision.

Your focus is on your career and financial situation, and on figuring out what you can do to increase business. However, the planets conspire to slow you down enough to notice the everyday people that need your attention. Expect misinformation, miscommunication and therefore mistakes. Attempt to clarify these issues with good communication. Improving your health will help you improve your outlook and prospects.

GEMINI MAY 21 - JUN 21

SAGITTARIUS NOV 23 - DEC 21

You’ll need to curb impulsive, risky decisions and the tendency to blurt things out. Allow for delays in your plans. Give yourself permission to go out and play with your friends, mix pleasure with a little business, and network yourself. Bounce your ideas off of people who you trust and actually pay attention to their feedback. Be realistic about your goals. Instant gratification can be wonderful. However, long term satisfaction takes more time, patience and communication.

You may not have the cash, but you certainly have the urge to embark on some fun projects. It is time for some quality romantic-comedy-adventures. Be open to what the Universe may have up its figurative sleeve. You can still take care of business, even in the midst of a party. Have faith in your future success. Don’t take unnecessary risks, or make hasty decisions. Instead, relax and enjoy getting to your next big thing.

CANCER JUNE 22 - JULY 22

CAPRICORN DEC 22 - JAN 19

Combine what you know, with what you do. Add a large business network and you have a perfect recipe for success. Expect the usual frustration that retrogrades bring. Use your energy to figure out new ways to get the job done. If the powers that be don’t notice how brilliant you are, be sure to shine the light on your accomplishments. Strike a balance between personal and professional responsibilities. Make your own wants and needs your priority.

You’re all fired up to make major changes in your life. However, that energy needs to be channeled and controlled towards making positive progress. Be careful that you don’t damage the structure of your basic security as you seek to make things better for yourself. Preserving harmony and balance takes commitment, especially within the dual retrogrades. Avoid confrontations with loved ones, try not to take things too personally and don’t make impulsive decisions.
