WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22 Akron Volunteer Fire Company will hold the Annual Halloween Parade. The parade starts at the Broad Street Park and ends at the fire station. Parade staging begins at 6:30 p.m. and the parade begins at 7:00 p.m. All participants must have a number. Numbers provided at Broad Street Park. Costumes, food, prizes and fun.

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 22 The Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley will sponsor “In Their Own Words: The Cocalico Valley’s Men and Women of World War II” at 7:00 p.m. at the Ephrata Public Library, 550 South Reading Road, Ephraa. Admission is free. For more information, call 717-733-1616.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23 The West Earl Lions Club will sponsor a Halloween Parade at 7:00 p.m. Registration begins at 6:15 p.m. at the West Earl Lions Park.

Please join the Friends of the Adamstown Area Library for their 9th Annual “Bucks for Books” Dinner and Auction to benefit the Adamstown Area Library. The event will take place on Saturday, November 8 at Stoudt’s Black Angus Restaurant in Adamstown.

Coats For Kids Being Offered At Ephrata Middle School

The event is planned for Saturday, November 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Ephrata Middle School cafeteria. Anyone wishing to donate a gently used coat may drop if off at modern cleaners who has offered to clean them for this event. Shown in the photo, from left to right, with a sample of the available coats, are Katarina Scheck, Emily Groff, Grace McCollom and Carly Snyder. The coats are available to kids in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade, residing in the Ephrata, Cocalico or neighboring school districts.
