REAL Life works hard to make sure that people feel valued and respected. REAL Life grew from R.E.A.L. Youth Ministry, which was founded by Rod Redcay in 2010. While working with youth, Rod quickly realized that there was a direct correlation between at-risk youth and families in need. In 2016, R.E.A.L. Youth Ministry became REAL Life Community Services and programs were created to expand social services to all residents of the Cocalico school district. Since 2016, REAL Life has helped over 900 of our neighbors in the community in numerous ways. In 2019, the Declaration House was opened and currently provides affordable housing for 10 families. The Declaration House is also home to Union Community Cares Health Center and Willow Creek Discount Grocery and Deli. If single moms and their children are facing housing instability, they may be eligible for our “Glory House” transitional home. Moms are given care and mentorship to aid them in transitioning to permanent housing. REAL Life’s Lighthouse Community Center is home to several programs as well. The Lighthouse serves as a meeting place for community groups, clubs, trainings, and events. It is home to the Momentum Club for youth development and our newest program, Thinking Thursdays. Our Early Learning Mentor program is part of Community Action Partnership’s Parents as Teachers program. SOUTH MOUNTAIN YMCA CAMPS

YMCA Camp Conrad Weiser first opened its doors in 1948. For 70 years their staff and volunteers have worked to connect kids in the outdoors while offering exciting programs that teach values like caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Providing outdoor experiences for children and families has become more critical as they seek to provide a space where people can explore nature and build meaningful relationships away from screens. The South Mountain YMCA Camps, Bynden Wood Day Camp and Camp Conrad Weiser are summer camp destinations for young people, offering traditional camp programs, literary theme camps, horseback riding experiences, as well as leadership and adventure camps. In addition, families and school groups visit the mountain for family camps and outdoor-environmental education programs year-round. “We offer a huge selection of outdoor camp activities, and we work with campers and counselors from around the world,” says Cory Evans, Camp Conrad Weiser Director. “It’s a special place with 12 to 15 countries represented each summer. It’s the United Nations of camping,” he continued with a smile. In addition to in-bound international travel programs, Camp Conrad Weiser also offers out-bound programs in which a group of local students travel abroad to take part in summer camp programs with YMCAs in Germany, Spain and Russia. Nathan Brant, CEO of the South Mountain YMCA Camps, gets the most satisfaction from seeing young people grow in confidence and independence. “It’s so rewarding to see kids come back year after year. They find their voice and begin to make real change in their communities,” he shared. One camper parent shared her experience with the South Mountain YMCA Camps in this way: It’s the “best camp in the area for so many reasons: traditions decades old, activities for every age, off-season programming for all ages, a beautiful setting, safe, educational, and fun - everything you could want in a summer camp! When my kids come home from the South Mountain YMCA, they are more independent and confident. As a former summer camp counselor with the program, I know the leadership skills I learned there changed my life - so consider the leadership programs for your teenagers, and if you ever get a chance to work there for a summer, do it! I highly recommend this camp to everyone.” The South Mountain YMCA Camps are located at 201 Cushion Peak Road, Reinholds, PA 17569. Give us a call at 610-670-2267 or visit us on the web at WWW.SMYMCA.ORG. We’ll see you at Camp!

RABER’S TIRE

According to John Raber, running a small business that is family owned and operated is the only way to go. When Raber’s Tire opened their doors in 2008, John and his son Jarren worked together to do whatever it took to bring customers satisfaction. Their dedication to this principle caused the business to grow in leaps and bounds, bringing John and Jarren to the point where they couldn’t keep up anymore. John decided to hire his nephew, Jeff Mast. With the help of another family member, Raber’s Tire is ready to help and satisfy even more customers, without having to sacrifice their desire to remain family owned and operated. John started his career at the age of 21 in a family owned and operated retail tire shop. The business was owned by John’s brother-in-law. “It’s been a blessing to work with family members,” comments John. For three years, John continued to work with his brother-in-law as a shop foreman. In 1997, John opened his own tire shop in Cambridge, Ohio. Under the clear leading of God, John and his family moved to Ephrata in 2008. Raber’s Tire (L-R): Justin, Sam, Jarren, John, Levi, Lee, Puffer, Ray and Johny opened in the spring of the same year. Upon opening, John wanted to reflect his family’s desire to honor and glorify God in everything they did, including changing tires. This desire hasn’t changed as they still seek to serve Him, as they serve you. They thank and glorify God for prospering His business abundantly. John characterizes the tire business as hard work, but also very satisfying and enjoyable. He always looks forward to the next day at work. “Big and small, we do them all” describes the tire inventory available to customers. Passenger, light truck, farm, lawn and semi-tires are available for purchase. Raber’s features Yokohama brand tires. Yokohama offers a full range of styles and sizes and with factory direct ordering Raber’s is able to offer this great brand of tires at amazing prices. They also carry many other major tire brands such as Bridgestone, Firestone, Michelin and Goodyear. Also, if you are looking for low cost tires, Raber’s Tire has them as well. They always try to keep economy level tires in stock. Super Savings are also offered on all name brand tires. At Raber’s Tire, “Service Sells and Quality Tells.” The Raber team also mounts and balances all tires purchased for free. Service to customers is always the number one priority. If you are looking for unbeatable prices, as well as quality tires and service, stop by Raber’s Tire at 743 East Main Street, Ephrata. Business Hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday by appointment. They can be reached at 717-738-1636.

SOLID FLUE CHIMNEY SAVERS

Did you know that many house fires start as a result of a poorly functioning and unsafe chimney? Carbon monoxide can also leak into your home through damaged and deteriorated liners. Solid Flue Chimney Savers are able to restore your chimney back to safe, working order without a complete teardown of the chimney. They have several relining options to choose from depending on the situation. Solid Flue is a unique chimney lining system ideally suited to reline and restore old, damaged or worn out chimney flues. Solid Flue is a registered and patented trade name with a network of chimney lining professionals. It was featured on the TV show, “This Old House,” many times. Through a unique process, a properly sized rubber bladder is dropped down the chimney and spaced evenly, and then a patented solid flue material is poured around the formers and left overnight to properly cure. Solid Flue is a zero clearance liner meaning heat doesn’t transfer through the liner to combustible materials surrounding the chimney. The liner comes with a lifetime warranty. Solid Flue can also reline your existing masonry chimney with a flexible stainless steel liner. This liner, depending on the severity of the damage, may be an option. This liner also comes with a lifetime warranty. Solid Flue Chimney Savers was started in 1990 by Mark Federer, whose experience includes stone and brick masonry and roofing. Over the years, the company has seen a rising trend towards more wood and pellet heating systems being used as alternative heat sources. Solid Flue Chimney Savers can also perform camera inspections to verify the condition of the flue, masonry repairs and installation of accessories like caps and air sealing top mounted dampers, making sure chimneys are safe for families to use. They are capable of bringing new life to chimneys that are new or more than 200 years old. They are also specialized in working with insurance claims resulting from chimney fires, lightning strikes, wind and other storm-related damage. The staff at Solid Flue Chimney Savers is very professional and courteous and will help you protect your property like it was their very own. Solid Flue Chimney Savers is located at 40 D. North Water Street, Lititz. Their hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Give Solid Flue Chimney Savers a call at 717-627-5054 to discuss your chimney concerns and how they can offer you a solution.

DC EAGER EMERGENCY SERVICES™ LLC

DC Eager Emergency Services, LLC are experts in all types of property damage that may occur within your home or business, such as Water, Sewer, Lead, Mold and Hoarding. They have also become well known throughout the contractor world for their Clean/Selective Demolition. Darlene Eager, Owner, has been in the business for 19 years. She has put together an amazing team who shares her love of the business as well as her love of helping and caring for people. Do you suspect mold growth in your home or business? Are you worried about the possible impact it may have on the health of your family? There is a lot of misinformation about mold and scare tactics that are used by other companies. DC Eager would love the opportunity to educate you on YOUR situation, as each condition is unique. If you suspect mold is present, there are a few necessary things you must know while waiting for DC Eager to assess your home. First, locate and fix the source of the moisture which has caused the mold to grow and spread. As where there is moisture, there will be mold, the moisture must be removed or the mold will just grow back. Second, there is no magic potion that you spray on mold and it just disappears. Bleach does not kill mold. Bleach will whiten mold staining just as it does with your laundry but the mold itself will still be there. If a mold remediation is done correctly, there is no need for chemicals. And lastly, do not wipe the mold or introduce air movement directly onto the affected area as this can promote the spreading of mold to other areas of the home or business. Hiring DC Eager, who is a certified, reputable, experienced and professional mold remediation company is your best option. You cannot just ignore mold, it won’t just go away, but it can get worse. Everyone at DC Eager is passionate about what they do and want to make sure their customers are educated and their experiences are stress free. If you or anyone you know needs the services of DC Eager Emergency Services, LLC, please feel free to call Darlene at 717-989-5763 for Darlene Eager, Owner a FREE assessment/estimate. L-R: Chad Winters, Sue Witmeyer and Jonathan Speros

WINTERS TRAILER SALES LLC

On August 1st, 2021, Winters Trailer Sales opened for business on 4170 Oregon Pike, in Ephrata, PA. Owner Chad Winters decided to open the business due to the success of the original parent business, Winters Automotive & Trailers, which is located at 39 West Maple Street, in East Prospect, PA. Winters has been the owner of the East Prospect site for 14 years, and in the Automotive industry for over 30 years. Winters states that the original shop was doing so well that it was time to open up another venue, and he decided that Lancaster, PA was the perfect area for the planned expansion. The new Ephrata branch is situated at the old Star Transporters location, which had been owned and operated by popular local resident Bernie Cochran. Winters says that Bernie was so helpful in the transition, and is so beloved by the community, that he asked Bernie to remain on the staff as a part-time employee. A position that Bernie still holds today. Now that the location had been settled upon, Winters went about hiring the rest of his staff. He hired Jonathan Speros as his general manager, and Sue Whitmeyer as the office manager. It was also at this time that Winters decided to make the focus of the Lancaster location trailer sales. Winters states that even though the businesses are located in York County and Lancaster County, he sells trailers all across the United States. Manager Speros interjects that Winters Trailers doesn’t just sell the trailers, but that they are a one-stop-shop for everything trailer related. Winters Trailers features well-known brands such as Pequea (local, out of New Holland!), Haulmark, Wells Cargo, Lightning, Rance, Continental Cargo, Force and more. Winters Trailers works diligently to keep up with the latest technology. Come down and let Winters’ staff help you pick out a trailer that will tailor to your exact needs. John M. Hess Auction Service, Inc. found its beginnings in the early 90s in several small leased facilities as the epitome of a small family run business. In the beginning, owner John was not only the lead auctioneer, he was the only auctioneer. John’s wife Jacy, and his sister Elizabeth, clerked and cashiered every sale. Slowly, the small business gained momentum with the construction of their Manheim facility along with the completion of an extremely successful period of marketing real estate at auctions. Over the years, Hess Auction Group has built a team of friendly, experienced and knowledgeable professionals. Each individual is a specialist in fields such as real estate, farm and commercial equipment, antiques, coins, jewelry, firearms, and other areas. Their knowledge ensures that potential customers understand the worth of quality merchandise. No matter what needs to be sold, one of their companies has the experience and resources to market the merchandise of their clients. From direct mailings, to Internet, to specialty publications, they’ll handle all the details. Their goals are to make selling easy for the client and to get the best value for merchandise. Hess Auction Group utilizes the latest electronic tools in marketing, photography, print and digital advertising to increase efficiency and make the client’s experience more rewarding. They now have three individual auction companies, and all of them share a deep commitment to serving people with the traditional values and skills that have been handed down from the founders of the business. These values and skills have helped them grow, but so has a commitment to hard work and integrity. The Hess Auction Group offers cutting-edge service from professionals that can be trusted. Hess Auction Group’s main location is at 768 Graystone Rd., Manheim, PA 17545. They can be reached at 717-664-5238, or through their website: hessauctiongroup.com. A Nest in Ephrata for Bank of Bird-in-Hand At a time when most banks are re-evaluating and closing their brick-and-mortar branch offices, Bank of Bird-in-Hand is “spreading its wings” and continuing to grow. Since the bank’s beginning in 2013 with just 10 employees and 1 branch, Bank of Bird-in-Hand now has over 100 employees, 4 branches, and a fleet of Mobile Branches - fully equipped RVs offering everything you’d find in any bank building. These “Gelt Buses”, named for the word “money” in Pennsylvania Dutch, allow Bank of Bird-in-Hand to bring services to those who traditionally have been underserved by the banking industry, including Lancaster County’s Plain Community. They also continue to provide services, such as telephone banking and courier services, that have gone by the wayside at other banks.

Bank of Bird-in-Hand’s Ephrata Branch team.

And in those nine years, its initial $17 million in starting capital has grown to over $800 million in total assets. In July 2021, Bank of Bird-in-Hand opened its Ephrata branch, located at 1759 West Main Street. While the branch may have an Ephrata address, it serves customers in the Lititz, Manheim, Stevens, and Denver areas. “It’s my goal that you leave our branch with a smile on your face,” shares Andrew Worth, the Ephrata Branch Manager. “I’ve been in banking for over 20 years, and Bank of Bird-in-Hand is special. Our focus is on building relationships with our customers, not just processing transactions.” You can catch the Bank of Bird-in-Hand Mobile Branches on the road and stationed at Ephrata Community Church and Nolt’s Greenhouse Supply (Ephrata) on Mondays, Root’s Market (Manheim) on Tuesdays, Meadowcreek BBQ Supply (New Holland) on Thursdays, and A.B. Martin Roofing Supply (Ephrata) on Fridays. For a full list of branch locations and the Mobile Branch schedule, visit www.bihbank.com.

ALL METAL ROOFING SPECIALISTS

“We’re not the biggest, just the best.” This has always been the motto of All Metal Roofing Specialists, LLC since it was founded. A spin-off of ACR Metal Roofing Distributors, All Metal was started in response to a struggling economy where there were a lot of good workers that needed jobs. Roofs still needed to be replaced and metal was, and is, a great option. Family-owned and operated, we at All Metal believe every home can benefit from a metal roof. Metal roofing is environmentally friendly with at least 25% post-consumer recycled material, and metal can be installed over old shingles, saving landfill space. A metal roof also acts as a radiant heat barrier, which will reduce your attic temperature in the summer by 20 to 30 degrees to offer increased energy efficiency and reduced cooling costs. We install only the best metal roofing, and our years of experience will help in choosing the right product that is durable and attractive for your home. As you go through the process of selecting a contractor, it can be difficult to know who you should trust with your home. We’ve worked in the home improvement industry for over 25 years, and we’ve heard our customers say many times that choosing a reputable contractor is the most daunting task. Visit our website at www.allmetalroofs.com. We want to make sure that our clients feel that they have made the right decision in choosing our company. We will take the time to fully understand your roofing needs and answer all your questions. After a comprehensive analysis, we will recommend a solution based on your preferences, your needs, and your budget. We will work hard to save you both time and money. You will never spend any money that is not necessary, only what is required to do the job right. We would love to work with you to craft a high-quality, custom roof that’s perfect for your home. 484-818-1085 717-933-7044 allmetalroofs.com PA License #047548 Fully Insured Free Estimates Financing

Hyperbaric oxygenation therapy + Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field Therapy = a powerful combination! Hyperbaric oxygenation therapy (HBOT) is a prescribed medical treatment. A patient breathes pure oxygen in a sealed chamber while the surrounding pressure is increased to a therapeutic level. The increase in pressure dissolves oxygen into the bloodstream and all the fluids of the body. The treatment triggers hundreds of internal biological processes, builds tiny new blood vessels, boosts the immune system and stem cell production, adversely affects many microbes and reduces inflammation and low oxygen areas in the body. This can have a positive impact on a wide range of diagnoses and conditions. Radiation-induced injuries and non-healing diabetic wounds, among other maladies, can be healed with minimal surgical intervention. Other diagnoses can be positively helped with HBOT when traditional medicine needs a boost. When antibiotics alone can’t cure a Lyme disease infection, under hyperbaric oxygenation conditions, the Lyme bacteria can’t survive. The immune system cleans up the dead bacteria and the body begins to repair the damage caused by the bacteria. HBOT can be life changing for patients. Current studies are underway and show the positive impact hyperbaric oxygenation has had on long-haul COVID-19 patients. HBOT reduces inflammation, repays the lingering ‘oxygen debt’ and initiates healing of previously impacted areas. Patients with reduced cognitive performance (“brain fog”), extreme fatigue, and headaches, among other symptoms, report improvement in their symptoms. Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) is a non-invasive therapy that helps improve circulation, energy balance, and nutrient uptake. We offer the combination of therapies for the health benefits of our patients. We are an outpatient clinic that uses 100% oxygen in monoplace chambers. The Nursing Director, Connie Waltz, RN, has over 40 years of experience in the field. For information, please call 717-684-3228, visit HBOXYGEN.COM, or email: hboxygen@earthlink.net. Business hours are by appointment. 255 N. 6th Street, Columbia, PA 17512.

HURSH’S COUNTRY STORE

The name “Hursh’s Country Store” is a misnomer. The reason being that Hursh’s Country Store is actually two stores, sideby-side! Located at 2425 West Main Street, Hursh’s started out at building A (on the right hand side) back in the Fall of 2014. A few years later, owners Carl and Lori Hursh purchased the building next door (building B) and utilized Carl’s background in construction to renovate an older landmark home into a vital addition to their business. Ironically enough, it was Carl’s background in construction that led him and Lori to open Hursh’s. Carl’s construction job kept him away from the most important part of his life: his family. The Hursh’s surmised that if they could open a successful store near their home, they would be rewarded with more time together. Their dream soon became a reality, and Hursh’s Country Store was born. The two buildings house a different set of products. Building A boasts “Farmhouse Style” décor, featuring products from P. Graham Dunn, coupled with traditional wall-art (with much of it made in the U.S.A.), and a large selection of gospel and Christian CDs (once again, many of these recordings are by local musicians). Building B consists of more utilitarian products for the home, including housewares and sewing machines and sewing products. Building B also boasts a large selection of retro style toys for children of all ages. Hursh’s Country Store is one of the only PFAFF product dealers in the area. Carl states that it’s the ability to provide quality PFAFF sewing machines and products to his customers, in order for them to fabricate their own clothing, that has taken his business to the next level. Carl says that in a day and age where online shopping is all the rage, he enjoys providing his customers with a store where it’s fun to shop, because he feels people still enjoy shopping in person. Hursh’s Country Store can be reached at 717-721-2575.

SHANK DOOR COMPANY

The Shank Door Company is happily celebrating 58 years of service within the community. With a variety of doors available to both residential and commercial clients, Shank Door Company has grown to be the largest garage door installer across the region. The success of this local business began in Harrisonburg, Virginia in the 1950s by Ralph Shank when he started selling and installing garage doors. With hard work, discipline and the heart of a true entrepreneur, Ralph moved to Baltimore for a short time and then moved to Myerstown in 1964. He began selling doors out of his basement and as his reputation for excellent service, superior labor and remarkable products spread throughout the community, the business continued to prosper. The current location of Shank Door at Myerstown was originally a farm belonging to Ralph’s brother, Aaron Shank. Ira Mast, the company’s first associate, was hired in 1971. In 1973, the farm officially became the established site for the business. Ralph decided to sell the business to Ira in 1976. He remained in some capacity following the transition. They also have a team working out of their Lancaster warehouse location. Ira placed high importance on thoroughness and continued growing the company competently and yielding growth. Despite a fire in 1982 when the building burned, Ira persevered and Shank Door rebounded and several new additions were built. The success of Shank Door is due to God-given opportunities, loyal contractors and customers. While styles and times have certainly changed from Ralph’s initial interest in doors, the market for quality, durability and function has not. Employing approximately 90 people, Shank Door maintains the reputation of quality and hard work set forth by Ralph. This commitment has earned them excellent reviews on Google and Angie’s List, as well as countless customer referrals. Overhead, entry and car wash doors, roll up screens and retractable awnings are among the products available for residential or commercial clients. If you are looking for any of these products and need an installation team that is highly skilled, please call Shank Door. Their phone number is 717-738-4499. You may also view their website at www.shankdoor.com for more information. Their hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or by appointment. 24-hour emergency service is available.
