At John F. Martin & Sons, their slogan is “Bringing Family to the Table,” emphasizing the importance of family and the time we share around the dining table. As a fourth-generation, family-owned company, the Martin family’s focus has always been and continues to be bringing only the finest, high-quality products to its customers.

John F. Martin & Sons offers a delicious lineup of carefully crafted natural hardwood smoked meats like bacon, smoked turkey, bologna, sausages, hot dogs, bone-in hams, boneless hams, and ham slices. They also offer many other traditional favorites such as scrapple, deli meats and cheeses, cream cheese, butter, BBQ ribs, and much more!

Beginning in Lancaster County in 1932, the story of John F. Martin & Sons is one of hardship and perseverance of faith. The company’s namesake, John F. Martin, was a local farmer working to support his young family through the Great Depression. John realized he could bring his family through the challenges of the time by selling fresh produce and farm-raised poultry at Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia. John traveled to and from Reading Terminal Market every week for 21 years until 1961 when he decided to open a butcher shop on his family farm and sell meat at local markets. Along with his five sons, John would establish John F. Martin & Sons, selling high-quality, farm-raised meat products to communities throughout Pennsylvania.

Today, John F. Martin & Sons continues to follow its long-standing tradition of bringing high-quality products to its customers while steadfastly committing to family values, community, and excellent customer service. The company’s top priority is offering the best selection of products, using only the freshest ingredients available, and operating in clean, state-of-the-art facilities that provide great working environments for its employees.

The Stevens facility is located at 55 Lower Hillside Rd., Stevens, PA 17578. They can be reached at (800) 597-2804, info@jfmmeats.com, or through their Facebook page. The Womelsdorf facility is located at 435 N. 3rd St., Womelsdorf, PA 19567.

EPHRATA CLOISTER

Founded in 1732 by a German immigrant, Conrad Beissel, Ephrata Cloister was the birthplace of the Borough of Ephrata. Here along the banks of the Cocalico Creek, Beissel and his followers awaited the Second Coming of Christ. At its height in the 1740s/1750s, the community of the Solitary at Ephrata numbered about 80 celibate members and about 200 Householder or married members with families. The celibate Brothers and Sisters lived a life of religious devotion and self-denial to prepare themselves for Christ’s Second Coming.

This quiet German Anabaptist community accomplished much for such a small community. They erected four and five story Germanic-style buildings. These buildings, two of which still exist, were some of the largest buildings west of Philadelphia in the 1740s. They also practiced the art of Frakturschriften (a type of calligraphy). Following the founder’s musical composition methods, they composed over 1,000 hymns, creating magnificent hymnal manuscripts. The first documented North American women composers were Ephrata Sisters! The Ephrata Cloister Chorus sings some of these very hymns in one of the buildings where they were originally sung.

By 1745, the brotherhood established a printing office to produce works of their own authorship and for outside customers. Fifteen Brothers worked for three years to produce the first German edition of the “Martyr’s Mirror” for their Mennonite neighbors. This was the largest printing in the American colonies prior to the American Revolution.

Following Beissel’s death in 1768, the celibate population declined and by 1813, the last celibate member died, leaving the property and faith to the remaining married members. The following year, they formed the German Seventh Day Baptist Church. Congregation members continued to live and worship at the site as the Borough of Ephrata grew around them.

In 1941, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania purchased the remaining 28 acres and nine original buildings. The Ephrata Cloister Associates were formed in 1958 to support the Commonwealth’s preservation and educational mission. The property is managed by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission with the support of the Ephrata Cloister Associates, a registered non-profit organization. Ephrata Cloister offers self-guided and guided tours, school tour programs, musical performances and special events throughout the year. And no visit is complete without a trip to the Museum Store. Ephrata Cloister volunteers assist the site’s staff and contribute to the success of these programs.

Today the restored Ephrata Cloister preserves the legacy of the community, as well as that of Pennsylvania’s founder William Penn and his Holy Experiment that offered religious freedom to early colonists. When you walk through the gates, it feels like you’re transported back in time.

The Ephrata Cloister is located at 632 West Main Street, Ephrata. Hours vary seasonally. Please refer to their website, www.ephratacloister.org or call 717-7336600 for more information.

RABER’S TIRE

According to John Raber, running a small business that is family owned and operated is the only way to go. When Raber’s Tire opened their doors in 2008, John and his son Jarren worked together to do whatever it took to bring customers satisfaction. Their dedication to this principle caused the business to grow in leaps and bounds, bringing John and Jarren to the point where they couldn’t keep up anymore. John decided to hire his nephew, Jeff Mast. With the help of another family member, Raber’s Tire is ready to help and satisfy even more customers, without having to sacrifice their desire to remain family owned and operated. John started his career at the age of 21 in a family owned and operated retail tire shop. The business was owned by John’s brother-in-law. “It’s been a blessing to work with family members,” comments John. For three years, John continued to work with his brother-in-law as a shop foreman. In 1997, John opened his own tire shop in Cambridge, Ohio. Under the clear leading of God, John and his family moved to Ephrata in 2008. Raber’s Tire opened in the spring of the same year.

Upon opening, John wanted to reflect his family’s desire to honor and glorify God in everything they did, including changing tires. This desire hasn’t changed as they still seek to serve Him, as they serve you. They thank and glorify God for prospering His business abundantly. John characterizes the tire business as hard work, but also very satisfying and enjoyable. He always looks forward to the next day at work.

AFP ADVANCED FOOD PRODUCTS LLC

AFP advanced food products llc is one of North America’s leading aseptic private label/co-pack food manufacturers of innovative, shelf-stable cheese sauces, dips, puddings, sauces and soups. As a result of our seasoned employees and thriving workplace environment, we consistently provide the best value and service to our customers.

Making its start in the 1940s, AFP is a pioneer in aseptic manufacturing and has been using aseptic food processing methods since 1951. Aseptic technology uses ultra-high temperatures and a short heating time to preserve freshness and nutrition. The product and the packaging are sterilized separately and then combined and sealed in a sterilized atmosphere. This process extends shelf life and does not require the use of preservatives.

At AFP we have been experiencing sustained growth and continual expansion. One of the most notable changes in our industry has been the increased difficulty in staffing. With unemployment so low in Lancaster County, finding employees with the necessary skills is increasingly competitive. Our company provides the perfect setting for qualified job seekers wanting to join us in this far-reaching industry. Due to our expansion, AFP currently has many job opportunities in maintenance, packaging, processing and sanitation positions.

We are working with the Chamber of Commerce and the Workforce Development Board on ways to change the perception that manufacturing is a dead-end job. AFP is working towards changing the conversation at schools and with parents about the viability of these skilled jobs. This is a national issue that is being faced by many companies. We are committed to being proactive and coordinating our efforts within the community in order to build a strong economic basis for Lancaster County.

With three strategically located facilities—in New Holland, Pennsylvania, Clear Lake, Wisconsin and Visalia, California—our triangulated placement gives us access to convenient distribution channels nationally and internationally. EPHRATA YOUTH CHEERLEADING PROGRAM, INC.

In 2017, Lisa Copenhaver was faced with a dilemma. The Ephrata Recreation Center no longer sponsored a midget cheerleading program, but the community still needed a vehicle in which to teach and coach cheerleading to the local youth. It was then that Copenhaver decided to take matters into her own hands, and founded the Ephrata Youth Cheerleading Program, Inc. Because Copenhaver founded the business, she decided to take the bull by the horns, and create a unique program that promotes cheerleading, while helping the girls learn in a fun filled atmosphere.

L-R: Lisa Copenhaver, Kim Capwill, Megan Copenhaver and Brittany Copenhaver.

Alongside program President Kim Capwill, and family members Megan Copenhaver (Vice President) and Brittany Copenhaver (Secretary/Treasurer), Copenhaver decided that her fledgling business would be a non-schoolrelated organization, and be totally independent, subsisting on registration fees and fundraising events only. Copenhaver’s next step was to assemble Board Members and a coaching staff that would attain all the necessary federal, state and child abuse history clearances needed to make her dream a reality.

Now, six years later, Copenhaver is proud to have such a dedicated staff of coaches and instructors who can provide each young lady with one-on-one guidance, helping them to attain their individual goals. Copenhaver states that she gets an immense sense of gratification from seeing the girls push themselves to their limits and beyond. She welcomes input from the children’s parents and encourages their involvement in their child’s endeavors.

Since 2016, REAL Life has helped over 1,800 of our

in the community in numerous ways.

In 2019, the Declaration House was opened and currently provides space for REAL Life and their staff, Union Community Care that provides affordable dental care, Willow Creek Discount Grocery and Deli, and ten affordable apartments for families in need!

If a single parent and their children are facing housing instability, they may be eligible for the “Glory House” transitional home. Parents are given care and mentorship to aid them in transitioning to permanent housing.

In 2021, they acquired the “Royer House” building next door and renovated it to provide five more affordable housing units. Their Lighthouse Community Center is home to several programs as well. It serves as a meeting place for community groups, clubs, trainings, and events. It is home to the Momentum Club (youth development) and Thinking Thursdays, as well as financial literacy classes.

Partnering with Community Action Partnership (CAP) and the Cocalico School District, REAL Life started a Parent-As-Teacher program. Their goal is to equip parents with the skills they need to prepare their children for Kindergarten ready to learn.

In 2020 REAL Life purchased and renovated an old warehouse to become “Warehouse916” Food Distribution Center to aid people experiencing food insecurity. They offer two main food programs; Power Packs Project, a weekly program for families with children. And Cocalico Food Pantry, a monthly client choice option to provide food for Cocalico residents in need.

REAL Life Community Services also has senior programs for those 60 & up. They also founded “Cocalico Cares” a Communities That Care model to help their community grow and thrive. Whether you need a routine maintenance check or an emergency repair, The Witmer Company, located at 286 Locust Street, New Holland, is available to handle all of your family’s plumbing, heating, cooling, sewer and drain, water conditioning and indoor quality needs. They continually strive to exceed customers’ expectations.

Roy and Dorothy Witmer founded the company in 1941 with the simple purpose of delivering high quality service at a reasonable price for the community. As the company has continued to grow, their values have never changed. They continue to maintain relationships with each customer. Most of their customers have been with them for over 10 years, if not for life.

Their employees are extremely dedicated as well. A majority of them have been with the company for the majority of their careers. A review from a customer named Scott confirms the high quality and longevity of the employees, “For the last 15 years, we have used Witmer to service our existing system, which they also installed, and we have NEVER had one complaint with any of their technicians. In fact, the technician, Eric, who installed the York system 15 years ago, was the same technician who also just installed our new Amana system. How often does that happen? Speaks volumes for Witmer’s employee retention. Eric and his co-worker, Luis, were very professional and courteous and left our house as clean as it was when they started. We can highly recommend them for any of your HVAC needs.”

Current President Jeffrey K. Henshaw has been in the HVAC industry for over 30 years. He has gone from estimating residential and commercial work, to now being a co-owner with Vice President Andrew McClure. Andrew has been with The Witmer Company for the last 36 years,

THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF THE COCALICO VALLEY

Heritage Matters

The Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley is a hidden gem. Many people think they are the “Ephrata Historical Society,” but they really cover the entire northern region of Lancaster County. Their footprint includes both East and West Cocalico Townships, as well as the townships of Clay, Ephrata and West Earl, and part of Earl. They serve the boroughs of Adamstown, Denver, Ephrata and Akron – basically anything from Reinholds to Brownstown.

Located at 237-249 West Main Street, Ephrata in an 1868 Italianate Mansion, both the museum and the research library provide tremendous amounts of history to visitors. The research library is helpful to those researching their family tree, the history of their property, obituaries, old newspapers, etc. There is also a working print shop onsite which is open most Saturdays and is staffed by printers who are trained in authentic type-set printing.

In addition, the HSCV holds monthly informative meetings that are open and free to the public, and they publish an annual journal for members, as well as an informative quarterly newsletter.

The Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley’s mission is to preserve the rich history of the Cocalico Valley for future generations. The Research Library is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Museum is open Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., March through December, and other times by appointment. Groups welcome. There are also many resources available on their website at www.cocalicovalleyhs.org. They can be reached at 717-733-1616.

THE ROBERT M. LOMBARD HYPERBARIC OXYGENATION MEDICAL CENTER, INC.

all the fluids of the body. The treatment triggers hundreds of internal biological processes, builds tiny new blood vessels, boosts the immune system and stem cell production, adversely affects many microbes and reduces inflammation and low oxygen areas in the body. This can have a positive impact on a wide range of diagnoses and conditions. Radiation-induced injuries and non-healing diabetic wounds, among other maladies, can be healed with minimal surgical intervention. Other diagnoses can be positively helped with HBOT when traditional medicine needs a boost. When antibiotics alone can’t cure a Lyme disease infection, under hyperbaric oxygenation conditions, the Lyme bacteria can’t survive. The immune system cleans up the dead bacteria and the body begins to repair the damage caused by the bacteria. HBOT can be life changing for patients.

Current studies are underway and show the positive impact hyperbaric oxygenation has had on long-haul COVID-19 patients. HBOT reduces inflammation, repays the lingering ‘oxygen debt’ and initiates healing of previously impacted areas. SOLID FLUE CHIMNEY SAVERS

Did you know that many house fires start as a result of a poorly functioning and unsafe chimney? Carbon monoxide can also leak into your home through damaged and deteriorated liners.

Solid Flue Chimney Savers are able to restore your chimney back to safe, working order without a complete teardown of the chimney. They have several relining options to choose from depending on the situation.

Solid Flue is a unique chimney lining system ideally suited to reline and restore old, damaged or worn out chimney flues. Solid Flue is a registered and patented trade name with a network of chimney lining professionals. It was featured on the TV show, “This Old House,” many times. Through a unique process, a properly sized rubber bladder is dropped down the chimney and spaced evenly, and then a patented solid flue material is poured around the formers and left overnight to properly cure. Solid Flue is a zero clearance liner meaning heat doesn’t transfer through the liner to combustible materials surrounding the chimney. The liner comes with a lifetime warranty.

Solid Flue can also reline your existing masonry chimney with a flexible stainless steel liner. This liner, depending on the severity of the damage, may be an option. This liner also comes with a lifetime warranty.

Solid Flue Chimney Savers was started in 1990 by Mark Federer, whose experience includes stone and brick masonry and roofing. Over the years, the company has seen a rising trend towards more wood and pellet heating systems being used as alternative heat sources. Solid Flue Chimney Savers can also perform camera inspections to verify the condition of the flue, masonry repairs and installation of accessories like caps and air sealing top mounted dampers, making sure chimneys are safe for families to use. They are capable of bringing new life to chimneys that are new or more than 200 years old. They are also specialized in working with insurance claims resulting from chimney fires, lightning strikes, wind and other storm-related damage. The staff at Solid Flue Chimney Savers is very professional and courteous and will help you protect your property like it was their very own. Solid Flue Chimney Savers is located at 40 D. North Water Street, Lititz. Their hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Give Solid Flue Chimney Savers a call at 717-627-5054 to discuss your chimney concerns and how they can offer you a solution.

ZERBE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY

Zerbe Retirement Community was founded in 1958. Sisters Dot and Sis Zerbe and Ann Zerbe Good, along with Ann’s husband, Curly (Omar) Good, began caring for elderly people in their farmhouse in Bowmansville, PA. Dot, Sis and Ann became Licensed Practical Nurses in 1960 when they realized their hospitality services were transforming into a legitimate business. They then moved to their current location in Narvon. They felt deep in their hearts that God led them to this vocation and location, and they were happy to serve the Lord in this fashion. When the time came that the sisters were not able to run the business anymore, their niece, Nancy Caffrey-Schafer, stepped into the leadership role.

In 2016, Nancy Caffrey-Schafer passed on the torch to her son, current CEO and Owner Dan Caffrey. Dan has proudly carried it into the next generation, expounding on the values and legacy of compassion originated by the sisters. He has been a part of the Zerbe Retirement Community since he was a boy, working in the maintenance department at the age of 14. Caffrey states that Zerbe Retirement Community was founded upon strong family values, and over 65 years later the business still exemplifies these values by committing to the service of their residents with the utmost care and compassion. Dan credits his success to Zerbe Retirement Community’s outstanding leadership team and their amazing staff members, who are dedicated to the well-being of their residents. Dan tells his staff what the Zerbe Sisters taught him, “we are here for the residents, and if we take care of the residents, everything will fall into place.”

There are many factors that set Zerbe Retirement Community apart from other, similar businesses in the area. One of these factors is the size of the current site. It’s smaller than other facilities in the area, which gives it a “down home “quality. The quaint size enables the staff to give many different levels of care, whether in skilled care, personal care or in the 58 independent cottages. Plus, the quiet, country location is hard to beat!

As you enjoy your retirement years, your health or physical disabilities sometimes make it more difficult for you to live without assistance. Personal care homes are an excellent option for you if this is the case! They offer the independence you’re used to with the help you need, and they are a perfect way for you to maintain a sense of community and belonging as you navigate your retirement.

When living on your own is no longer an option, Harvest View at Zerbe Retirement Community could be the perfect solution. Located on our beautiful, 60-acre campus in northeast Lancaster County, Harvest View provides personal care for residents who require supervision or general assistance with daily living in a safe and nurturing environment.

Our compassionate caregivers are experienced in all areas of senior health care and make sure residents are treated as individuals with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Residents also enjoy a close family community and the opportunity to experience a full and active life. Our community is welcoming and fun-filled for maximum enjoyment all the time, whether that’s through socializing all day or slowing down and getting through that stack of books you’ve been meaning to read. There’s always something to do, including making new friends and getting to know each other during our planned social activities. Aside from our social events, we also offer therapeutic activities to enjoy. We take pride in our commitment to achieving optimum health and well-being for our residents - from their physical and social needs to their spiritual needs. Zerbe Retirement Community is located at 2499 Zerbe Road, Narvon, PA 17555. The can be reached at 717-445-4551, or via their website, www.zerbesisters.com, and they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

MTS CRANE SERVICE

In December 2023, Bank of Bird-in-Hand celebrated its tenth anniversary. What started as a conversation over the breakfast table, has grown into a billion-dollar bank with seven branches, three Gelt Buses, and over 150 employees. No one ever expected this “little community bank” to meet the needs for so many.

With a mission to “provide quality banking services with integrity in the markets we serve”, Bank of Bird-in-Hand opened its doors in December 2013 in the heart of Lancaster County’s Plain Community, in the quaint village of Bird-in-Hand. At that time, the Bank was the first bank in the United States to gain a charter since 2010 and remains the only bank in PA to open since 2008. “When we first opened, people lined up out the door,” shares Bill O’Brien, the Bank’s Chief Lending Officer.

The process of starting a bank, called the De Novo process, is not for the faint of heart. Lasting three years, it requires a tremendous amount of planning and oversight. “Things were so busy; we don’t have many pictures from the beginning. It was pure survival,” explains Lori Maley, CEO and President of Bank of Bird-in-Hand. “Everyone wore many hats.” Lori was one of the ten original employees of the Bank, along with O’Brien. Three additional team members that joined the Bank in the beginning, are still with the Bank today.

Measured growth was key during the DeNovo process. “The regulators did not want the Bank to grow too fast,” says Maley. Once the DeNovo process was completed, Bank of Bird-in-Hand was able to “spread its wings” and opened its second location in downtown Intercourse in 2016, and its third in Paradise in 2019.

Around that time, Bank of Bird-in-Hand began exploring the idea of a Mobile Bank to help serve the needs of rural Lancaster County. Starting with one RV in 2018, Bank of Bird-in-Hand now has three Mobile Branches, or “Gelt Buses.” These buses provide banking services to locations in three counties (Lancaster, Southern Chester, and Berks), and maintain a regular schedule of stops where each stop represents a branch. Each bus has an ATM, teller window, and walkin service area, where customers can open accounts with a team member.

In 2021, a time when many larger banks were shuttering their brick-and-mortar branches, the Bank’s Ephrata branch opened to serve Northern Lancaster County. 2022 brought additional Bank growth to the communities of Manheim, and Schaefferstown, Lebanon County. 2023 ushered in another first, with the Bank’s opening of the Lykens Valley branch in upper Dauphin County.

Looking back over the last ten years, it’s hard to imagine that so much has been accomplished. Reflecting on her time with the Bank, Megan Livengood, VP, Bank of Birdin-Hand’s Residential and Consumer Lending Manager (and one of the original ten employees) shares, “It’s been a blessing and the highlight of my Banking career to help establish and continue to grow the Bank by cultivating relationships within our local community.”

VAULT MOBILE STORAGE, LLC

Secure on or off-site storage for your short and long-term storage needs!

Vault Mobile Storage, LLC offers mobile storage units (vaults) that can be used for onsite storage at your home or business, whether you need extra space or are remodeling and need to move stuff out. What better way to store your “stuff” than moving it right outside your door rather than transporting your items to another location? Vault Mobile Storage also provides vaults for people who are moving to another home. They can drop off a vault for you to load up with all your belongings and then transport it to your new home or store at their facility. The vault can be unpacked at your leisure, not like when you have to move everything in one day with a moving company.

Owners Hayden Groff, Houston Groff and Craig Groff enjoy talking with potential customers about the mobile storage process and having them understand the benefits of getting a vault. The information is often met with excitement as many people do not know this service exists. They also receive calls from customers who were let down by large national mobile storage companies and Vault Mobile Storage has been able to help them right away and get them what they need. Customer satisfaction is guaranteed. They aim to provide the best service at the best value. If at any point during your rental something is not right, please reach out to them and they will make it right!

REINHOLDS VFW POST 6759

The Reinholds VFW Post 6759 was started in 1947 so there would be a place for military members to come and enjoy each other’s company and to support those coming home from the war. The VFW is a familyfriendly small business whose main focus is supporting veterans and the community. They donate to numerous community events each year, as well as the bulk of their donations go to help local veterans in various ways, including offering medical equipment such as wheelchairs walkers, canes, potty chairs and shower chairs to those in need.

It takes four groups to insure the VFW survives: The Post, which is made up of military members, The Home Association, which is also made up of military members, but is separate from the post (this is the Canteen), The Auxiliary, which is made up of family members of military veterans and the social members (who are anyone who wants to enjoy the benefits of a membership, but doesn’t qualify for the other categories).

The Reinholds VFW is a close-knit group who has amazing members willing to donate their time to any cause. Some of the special fundraising events held throughout the year include two purse Bingos, selling chocolate covered strawberries and peanut butter and coconut eggs, paint nights and car shows. They also host Easter and Christmas parties for kids, have karaoke contests, veteran’s dinners, participate in Memorial Day parades and services, wreath laying and placing flags at cemeteries. Chicken BBQs are also held in the warmer months.

They also offer a variety of entertainment options for kids, families and night life including Senior Bingo, band nights/karaoke, kids’ karaoke and customer appreciation nights. The Canteen part of the VFW has breakfast served daily until 11:00 a.m. Sundays feature breakfast specials every week. There is also a full dinner menu with rotating weekly specials every Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Members enjoy Bingo and Bingo burgers every other Monday and Taco Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m.

The bar offers a huge variety of beer, liquor, seltzers, ciders and non-alcoholic drinks. They have seven beers on tap and over 40 beers and seltzers in bottles and cans, as well as 10 different sodas. 50 different liquors are also offered.

The Reinholds VFW Post 6759 is truly a special place, as the staff has had very little turnover with some of the employees having worked there for over 10 years, some up to 25! The VFW gets many compliments about the staff often, “The staff is awesome. That’s what keeps people coming back,” “The staff is awesome. This place is like family. The Veteran support is phenomenal.” Many Veterans agree that it is the best VFW they’ve been to. “They are always so nice and helping the Veterans.” Steward and Auxiliary President, Britta Stuart thoroughly enjoys coming to work each day, “knowing what we do here and what we stand for is supporting Veterans. I love to see how our members get along, help each other and care about the VFW.” Other staff members include Richard Sweigart, Home Association President; Matthew Fasnacht, Commander of Post; and Scott Fisher, Leonard Lausch and Larry Rutt, trustees. Reinholds VFW Post 6759 is located at 250 Brunners Grove Road, Reinholds. They open at 9:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday, and 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. Their phone number is 717-336-9918. More information can also be found on their Facebook page.

ALL METAL ROOFING SPECIALISTS

“We’re not the biggest, just the best.” This has always been the motto of All Metal Roofing Specialists, LLC since it was founded. A spin-off of ACR Metal Roofing Distributors, All Metal was started in response to a struggling economy where there were a lot of good workers that needed jobs. Roofs still needed to be replaced and metal was, and is, a great option. Family-owned and operated, we at All Metal believe every home can benefit from a metal roof. Metal roofing is environmentally friendly with at least 25% post-consumer recycled material, and metal can be installed over old shingles, saving landfill space. A metal roof also acts as a radiant heat barrier, which will reduce your attic temperature in the summer by 20 to 30 degrees to offer increased energy efficiency and reduced cooling costs. We install only the best metal roofing, and our years of experience will help in choosing the right product that is durable and attractive for your home.

As you go through the process of selecting a contractor, it can be difficult to know who you should trust with your home. We’ve worked in the home improvement industry for over 25 years, and we’ve heard our customers say many times that choosing a reputable contractor is the most daunting task. Visit our website at www.allmetalroofs.com. We want to make sure that our clients feel that they have made the right decision in choosing our company. We will take the time to fully understand your roofing needs and answer all your questions. After a comprehensive analysis, we will recommend a solution based on your preferences, your needs, and your budget. We will work hard to save you both time and money. You will never spend any money that is not necessary, only what is required to do the job right. We would love to work with you to craft a high-quality, custom roof that’s perfect for your home.

Celebrating 61 Years

In 1954, the late George Grove Sr. started what was later to become George J. Grove & Son, Inc. He was one of the county’s leading installers, offering customers a complete line of home improvement services. The Manheim Pike business started out in George Sr.’s home with one pickup truck and George Sr. as the sole proprietor and only employee.

George J. Grove Jr. entered the business at a very early age, assisting his father and grandfather, Cleon Grove Sr., with installations. The business moved from George Sr.’s home to a shop on Cabbage Hill. In 1973, the business incorporated, and then moved to their current location at 1219 Manheim Pike. In keeping with family tradition, George J. Grove III, a third generation, also entered the business at a very early age, bringing with him the same passion and attitude his grandfather had when he started. The Groves have built their business on a firm belief in a quality product and installation, in maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, integrity and fairness in their relationships with their customers. They are family owned, always have been and always will be. They insist that customers get the best products on the market for their money.

The Groves employ a full team headed by George J. Grove, Jr., who is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service. The company strives to establish lasting relationships with their customers by exceeding their expectations and gaining their trust through fair prices and exceptional service. They have been loyal members of the community for over 60 years.

George J. Grove & Son, Inc. is a member of the Better Business Bureau, the Building Industry Association, the National Association of Home Builders, National Association of Small Business, National Safety Council, Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and the Remodeling Contractors Association. Kwik Shine Car Wash offers customers a high-quality touchless car wash at an affordable price. Kwik Shine Car Wash is located at 871 East Main Street, Ephrata, and is locally owned and operated. The business was purchased in September 2018 by Jensen King. Jensen grew up working at his father’s car wash in Gordonville and when Kwik Shine Car Wash came up for sale, he knew it was a perfect fit.

The biggest way Kwik Shine Car Wash differs from their competition is that they are completely touchless. During the automatic car wash, no part of the machine will touch the vehicle. They use high quality chemicals, which are both safe and effective in cleaning your vehicle. Kwik Shine also has three self-serve bays for those that desire to hand wash their vehicles.

Jensen and his employees enjoy meeting new customers, as well as growing relationships with repeat customers. Kwik Shine’s ultimate goal is 100% satisfaction. They have a sign as you leave the facility that says, “If you are happy, tell others, if you are not, tell us…” They truly mean this. They want to make sure every customer is happy with a shiny vehicle, and if there are any unhappy customers, employees try to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

There are three kinds of washes to choose from when using the automatic bays. The Ultimate Wash includes a high pressure underblast, 2 step pre-soak, 2 high pressure rinses, tri-foam wax, clear coat foaming protectant, spot free rinse and the high powered dryer. The protectant used is Rust-oleam Ceramic Protectant that helps keep both your vehicle cleaner longer after washing by rejecting dirt and debris, as well as creating a higher shine by bonding to and protecting the paint on your vehicle. The Premium Wash also includes a high pressure underblast, 2-step pre-soak, high pressure rinse and the high powered dryer. The Kwik Wash includes 2 step pre-soak, high pressure rinse and spot free rinse. Unlimited wash passes are available and can be used in any automatic bay and the self-serve bays. The establishment of Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc. was an accomplishment of my heart. After my daughter joined the business, we knew the impact we could make to families and the community. I partnered with my friend and talented funeral director, Joseph D. Giles, and expanded into Ephrata as we purchased our Gravenor Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc. location. Joseph has been an experienced director and supervisor for over 50 years with a big heart for grieving families and his community.”

In 1981, in order to learn about small engines, Marvin Sensenig bought a repair manual for his push mower and disassembled and reassembled the engine. The experiment was a success, teaching Marvin about how the engine operated. As he learned more, he began to work on his friend’s and family’s equipment. By the spring of 1984, Marvin decided to turn his evening hobby into an official business, opening Sensenig’s Repair & Sales.

TONE TAILORS

Tone Tailors opened its doors in downtown Lancaster in March of 2015. In September of 2017, after establishing themselves to musicians in the area, they moved to Lititz, PA to take advantage of their new location’s proximity to the recently-constructed Rock Lititz Plaza. The 4,000-square foot space inside of Pod #2 of the plaza is triple the size of the original store, and enabled owners John Paul “JP” Painton and John LeClair to expand their guitar inventory, and house a gigantic stock of other musical instruments such as drums, keyboards, amplifiers, accessories and more.

Co-owner Painton states that Tone Tailors’ ability to listen to the constant feedback of their customers, and take the feedback to heart in order to provide the best service possible, is what makes them stand out from the competition. Co-owner LeClair adds that with their spacious shop, enormous inventory, and knowledgeable staff, the store can live up to it’s alliterative, descriptive name.

Now, five and a half years after the move to Lititz, Tone Tailors has established themselves as the premier music shop in all of Lancaster County. They feature equipment from guitar makers like Nash, Suhr, PRS and Martin, and have created a special niche for local musicians by featuring the most expansive line of effects pedals imaginable. They also carry a huge amount of accessories such as guitar strings, cables, straps, tuners and more. Need work on your guitar? Let one of their accomplished repairmen get your guitar or bass working and looking new again. They also have a full staff of instructors to provide lessons for drums, guitar, bass, piano and even vocals!

In 1958, in the back room of the Denver Hardware Store, Paul Witwer, Walter Cubberley and Floyd Witwer started a wire business. Over the decades that followed, they saw the single room in the hardware store grow to include four manufacturing locations and two inventory warehouses employing over 500 associates and annual sales exceeding $250MM!

Since the beginning, Kalas has been devoted to delivering quality wire and cable products along with dependable service to the wide range of markets and customers they serve all over the world. Sticking to that devotion as Kalas grew allowed them to become one of the leading wire and cable manufacturers in the world to this day.

As a privately held family business, the Kalas family spans three generations of Witwer men who have held leadership positions. DENVER ORIOLES NEST #54

The Fraternal Order of The Orioles Nest #54 has been a fixture on the Denver landscape since 1910. Comprised of men and women who want to make a difference in the community by serving the Denver area in a variety of ways, The Fraternal Order of the Orioles is a social and charitable organization that currently consists of over 50 local “nests” and affiliated auxiliaries in 9 states in the Eastern United States. Over the one hundred plus years of their existence, their mission of mercy has remained unchanged.

The members of Orioles Nest #54 receive a sense of achievement by donating their time, effort and funds to the local Denver community. Whether it’s seeing to the needs of a member who has been hospitalized, organizing local food drives for Ephrata Area Social Services, or simply lending a helpful hand to single women or orphans in need, the members of Orioles Nest #54 feel it’s their obligation to help people who need aid.

L-R: Treasurer Scott Wise, Manager Tami Hoffmaster and Trustee Jeff Dinger.

The Denver Orioles are always looking for new members. Manager Tami Hoffmaster, president Jeremy Smith, and the Board of Directors of Orioles Nest #54 suggest that anyone interested in becoming a member should stop by in person or call during hours of operation. Trustee Mick Lorah states that it’s a simple equation: More members equals more opportunities to help the community.

The Orioles Nest #54 is located at 207 Main Street, Denver, PA 17517. They can be reached at 717-336-9939. They also have a popular Facebook page, in which it’s possible to investigate the many social and charitable events they have planned for the upcoming year.
