Julia Sanderson and her Ridgeview Ranch are no strangers to talented show horses. There is also no doubt that they have a great eye for horses and are one hundred percent committed to giving each horse in their herd the best opportunity for greatness.

"I juST kNEw I haD TO havE hEr. FrOm ThE FIrST TImE I GOT ON hEr, I waS SOlD "

Julia fell in love with Her Southern Best as a two year old. Trained and owned by Gabby Lopes at the time, the stunning mare was by Its A Southern Thing was bred by Staci Brown out of the mare Potentially The Best. 12 August 2022

Millie, as she is known at home, has grown up to be a very talented mare winning in both the pleasure and trail while learning the Western Riding and Horsemanship as well.

“I bought Millie from Gabby as a two year old and because of her start there I just knew I had to have her. From the first time I got on her I was sold” exclaimed Julia. In 2020, Julia and Her Southern Best earned a top five placing in the very deep NSBA World Breeders Championship Limited Non-Pro Two Year Old Western Pleasure and continued to place well in the pleasure at shows as a three year old. “I cant thank Gabby enough for what she has done for Millie” shared Julia.

Gabby and Millie became a talented pair showing in the level1 and Jr trail, but with Gabby’s maternity leave it was time for Millie to move on. Julia wanted to give Millie her best chance at the big shows, and the move to Empyre Show Horses with Brad and Troy was the perfect fit. “Their talent in trail and all around events has benefited Millie so much. I’m so thankful they are close to all the big shows and for Millie that is my goal. To watch her out there doing so well, makes it all worth while.”

“I couldn’t ask for a better place to land for me and my horses. Their dedication and care they give the horses and their customers is incredible. They are Millie and Brad have become a professional , organized, and so kind to beautiful team and will be showing at everyone .. and so kind to the horses. the NSBA World Show in the Green and Mike and I are so thankful.” Millie deserves credit too, the sweet mare has a personality anyone would love! “Millie is the sweetest best minded horse. She always gives it her best when showing” shared Julia. “Nothing rattles her in the pen and it makes showing her so fun not to worry about that. When she was first started Gabby took her to move cows and trail ride and she was a trooper then too!! We all love Millie. Her sweet disposition and the trust she has with people make her a joy to be around.”

Her Southern Best continues to grow in her all around training. they are developing her into a true all around horse. “Right now our goal is to keep Millie going with Brad in trail and western riding. I’ve shown her myself in pleasure and she has always done well. She will be a great horsemanship horse too for me in the future. I will let the guys tell me when it’s my turn.” That level of trust and respect is part of what makes a training relationship so successful and Brad is thrilled to work with Julia and Millie. "Millie has a great stride for the trail" Brad continued, "and she is very eye appealing. We are looking forward to her future career." “The future for Millie is wide open" adds Julia. "She will go on to be a great show horse and broodmare down the road. As for now she will continue her

trail events and work on her western riding, horsemanship and anything else they want to teach her. She seems to catch on fast.” Julia knows the ins and outs of showing and her passion for horses and showing is evident in all aspects of her life. Her show clothing business The French Cowgirl Boutique keeps Julia incredibly busy with gorgeous custom designs. In her spare time she also shows in the Ranch events with her Palomino Trashy Blond and has developed a top notch breeding program at Ridgeview Ranch Quarter Horses.

was raised on this ranch and I’m the 3rd generation to own it. It will continue on with my kids and their kids as well.”

We will be watching and cheering Brad and Her Southern Best on in the trail events at the NSBA World Show and the majors.

Julia also shares her passion for horses with her Granddaughter and has even shared her talented all around mare Ms Flashy Krymsun with her. “To share this world with my family means everything to me and to have a horse crazy granddaughter is the cherry on top! She will show Mama as she progresses from leadline to small fry. I cant wait for that, it’s the perfect job for Mama and a great horse for Micky to learn on.” Ridgeview Ranch Quarter Horses has a very bright future with the talented mares in their program, and a team of trainers that can take them to the top. BEAT THE HEAT Tips to survive and thrive at summer shows Summer is a huge time for shows so while our non-horsey peers may be spending the season in the comfort of air conditioning or a refreshing pool, we choose to sweat it out in dry, dusty arenas dressed in leather and heavily embellished show clothing. Whether you’re baking in the desert sun, or feeling the hot and humid effects of the weather, we have compiled some essential tips to help make it through the summer circuits without you and your horse melting.

SHOW HORSE TODAY

August 2022 27

This summer, make sure you... 1. Stay hydrated- This goes for both you and your horse. In excessive heat, it’s even easier to get dehydrated. In order to cool yourself, you sweat more which means you need to replenish the water that you lose. Most nutritionists agree that water is the best source. Sports drinks may have additional electrolytes, but they are also packed with sugar which can add up quickly. Also, keep a close eye to make sure your horse is drinking enough. When in strange places, your horse may be hesitant to drink 28 August 2022

sufficiently if the water tastes different. You can also encourage water intake by providing loose salt with their feed or an electrolyte supplement. Wetting their hay is another way to increase water intake as well as cut down on dust. If you know your horse is picky about “foreign” water, you might want to plan ahead and bring water from home, particularly if you’re not at a long circuit. make sure there is always fresh water available to your horse.

air just adds to the heat. Be sure you position fans where the horses can easily stand in front of, or under, one of them for a refreshing breeze. Also, 2. Dress appropriately- Few riders consider adding a fan or two to the look forward to putting on (and taking aisle as long as it is not in the way of off) heavy show clothes like hunt seat passersby or other traffic. The more coats and rail jackets. Even though you air movement, the cooler it will feel. If can’t always “dress down” into less budget allows, you can even look into formal duds, take advantage when you the nifty misting fans to cut down the can and don popular cotton show shirts heat even more. for everything from western pleasure to trail to horsemanship. Men aren’t the 4. Avoid working during the heat only ones who can enjoy a more casual of the day- While we know that isn’t look in the heat. Cotton is lighter and more breathable than the heavy, rhinestoneladen attire. Also, just because it may seem like a basic essential, doesn’t mean it has to be boring. We particularly like the new sheer sleeve blouses! 3. Have lots of fans- And no, we’re not talking about the social media type. Since show horses spend the majority of their time indoors, they typically don’t have access to the cooling cross-ventilation that comes with an outdoor breeze. While your barn at home may be properly ventilated, some show barns tend to be more closed-in and stagnant SHOW HORSE TODAY

may be back there sweltering. Make sure yours has adequate ventilation and be sure to stop regularly to offer your horse water. If possible, travel at night. Without the sun bearing down on you, the trailer will absorb less heat, and the roads will stay cooler as well. Also, be mindful when traveling through major cities. Sitting in traffic restricts the airflow that circulates through the trailer when it is moving.

always possible with show schedules, try to avoid doing the bulk of the work, like lunging and riding, in the heat of the day. Get up a little early or stay out in the evenings to try to beat the heat, and only do what you have to during the hottest hours between noon and 4 pm (or later depending on your location). 5. Make sure you are heat-conscious when hauling- Those metal trailers really absorb heat, and while you’re cruising along in the comfort of your truck’s air conditioning, your horse 30 August 2022

6. Know the signs of heat exhaustion in both people and horses- Heat exhaustion should not be taken lightly as it can quickly escalate into lifethreatening heat stroke. Be sure to know what to look out for if you suspect you, another person, or a horse has gotten overheated. Symptoms in people can include confusion, dizziness, fainting, fatigue, headaches, nausea and vomiting, pale and/or clammy skin, excessive sweating, and an increased heart rate. If you suspect that you or someone else is suffering from heat exhaustion, drink plenty of water, seek cooler areas (like air conditioning or shade), remove tight clothing, and seek medical treatment. Horses can also easily get overheated, especially in hot and humid conditions. 7. Offer water and other cool

SHOW HORSE TODAY

treats if you’re a member of show management- Many show have begun offering free water to exhibitors as a way to give back and help them beat the heat. Whether passing out bottles by hand or filling a huge tub of ice and water bottles at the show office or in-gate, this is definitely a great idea to keep people happy and hydrated. In the past, some have also offered other cool treats like watermelon slices and popsicles. Get creative, and people will definitely appreciate your efforts. 8. Slather on the SPF- Lastly, don’t forget the sunscreen! While everyone seeks covered and/or climate-controlled arenas in the sweltering sun, you’ll have to get out in it sooner or later. Be sure to protect your skin and your horse’s (particularly if you have a light-skinned horse such as a Paint, Appaloosa, or Cremello) from the sun’s damaging rays. A sunburn makes the show much less fun for you and your horse, and the immediate discomfort can give way to permanent damage further down the road. For us humans, we recommend Neutrogena’s CoolDry Sport sunscreen. It is sweat-resistant, comes in both SPF 30 and SPF 70 strengths, and isn’t sticky or greasy like other sunscreens, allowing sweat to evaporate

easier. For your equine friends, we particularly like Healthy Haircare Sunflower Sunscreen for all-over coat protection and Exhibitor Lab’s Quic Shade for spot protection on areas like those sensitive noses. It also doubles as a highlighter for show day. Summer is considered by many to be the best time of the year. Days are longer, the vibe is more laid back, and even the shows have an extra layer of fun, even in the heat. With these few savvy tips, we hope you can enjoy it all!

Hauling in the Heat In most places in the northern hemisphere, August is the hottest month of the year and coincidentally the time of year when people are travelling to major shows all over the country like the Ford Youth World and NSBA World Championships, The heat can take a toll on horses during the long trailer rides to their destinations. Show Horse Today sat down with Dr. Jennifer Johnson to get some tips for handling excessive heat while trailering.

One of the largest struggles shows and associations face is to maintain the fun and social side of competitive showing and keep people engaged and coming back. The Canadian Quarter Horse Association has combatted this issue with an incredibly popular national amateur team tournament. Developed this year by Joelle Johnson, an amateur that missed the camaraderie at shows that was a highlight of her youth career. She reached out to organizations to plan something special and the team tournament was welcomed with open arms by the CQHA.

“I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE PROUD OF ANYTHING I HAVE EVER DONE IN MY LIFE THAN WHAT IS HAPPENING.” Featuring ten randomly drawn teams, each with ten amateurs from all across Canada the tournament has given people across the nation the opportunity to meet new friends, enjoy fun show and non show events, cheer for each other and learn more about the horses, shows and people from other areas of the country. Each team is sponsored by a Canadian owned stallion and prizes have been added by many sponsors thrilled to get on board with this idea.

The tournament allocated points to participants in multiple ways. Exhibitors earn points for their top 10 show placings in each class. Additionally points are allocated for non horse events such as sharing on social media, participation and organization of fun events at shows and online events such as the “Barn Fashion” runway show that is currently underway. Both Joelle and the CQHA team including Laurie Haughton have

designed the point allocation to encourage competition in classes as well as social development and sponsor recognition. It has been a win/win situation for everyone involved. “The point of this is to create camaraderie across the nation, each team is built up to represent that” explain Joelle. “We encourage everyone to try new classes, but there is also ample opportunity for those who don't show all-around to earn points for their team. Even the team sponsors have gotten involved and many are diligently supporting their team members and taking the chance to have them promote their stallions by providing team hats, jackets and other swag as well as promoting their team members! I had what wasn’t a great day in the show arena and came back to my stall and this (team and stallion swag) is what I got. I went from down to feeling totally blessed. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.” Joelle shares the excitement for the program with her fellow competitors. “This is something I have longed to see in the local quarter horse shows, bringing fun

About the CQHA Breeders Committee “Canadian breeders have produced AQHA world champions in almost every AQHA event, and have also bred horses for the track that hold current AQHA records.”

The Canadian Quarter Horse Association's breeder's committee is made up of a group of diverse breeders, representing every discipline with in the quarter horse industry. The primary objective of the committee is to promote the quality quarter horses which are produced in Canada by the many talented and knowledgable breeders. Canadian breeders have produced AQHA world champions in almost every AQHA event, and have also bred horses for the track that hold current AQHA records. A major project for the committee in 2022 is the development of a virtual seminar on

breeding best practices with the support of the AQHA's Educational Market Place Grant Program. Working with AQHA Professional Horsewoman and renowned breeder Andrea Simons of Pilot Point, Texas, as well as veterinarians from some of America's top veterinarian schools and research facilities, the committee is on task to produce an educational resource that will compliment the knowledge base of experienced breeders, and inform new and upcoming breeders on key considerations that are relevant to any breeding operation, big or small.

The Long Haul LONG DISTANCE HAULING TIPS

96 August 2022

SHOW HORSE TODAY

SUMMER IS HERE, AND IT’S TIME TO LOAD UP THE TRAILER AND MAKE SOME MEMORIES. THE JOURNEYS ARE USUALLY LONG, BUT THE EVENTS ARE WORTH IT! IN THIS DAY AND AGE, WE TRAVEL MORE FREQUENTLY, AND FURTHER, WITH CONSIDERABLE EASE. BUT FOR OUR EQUINE PALS, A SIMILAR LONG DISTANCE JOURNEY CAN BE A DAUNTING PROSPECT, NOT ONLY IN TERMS OF COST, BUT LOGISTICALLY TOO. WE’VE PUT TOGETHER A HANDY GUIDE ON LONG DISTANCE HAULING WITH EASE. SHOW HORSE TODAY

August 2022 97

BEFORE THE TRIP Being organized before a trip is well worth that extra bit of time that it takes, forgetting something on a short trip might be bearable, but forgetting water buckets on a long journey is no fun, believe me!

tow bar. I saw the horror of the trailer disconnected from the truck, rolling down the hill, and hitting a pole, almost killing the horse inside.

TIRES - Check pressure of all of them, including the spare! And look out for any signs of wear and tear.

You can save yourself a lot of hassle on the journey simply by having everything in order before you start out! We’ve put together some printable checklists to use to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey!

TRAILER CHECK

Keeping a healthy truck and trailer is vital to your safety. I was in a trailer accident myself due to a crack in the 98 August 2022

WHEELS - Ensure that lug nuts are tight on all wheels.

LIGHTS - Check each of your lights on your truck and the trailer before leaving the barn. That includes brake lights and indicators.

SHOW HORSE TODAY

FLOOR - Walk your entire floor to check for weak areas; it’s all the better if you can lift your matting to check more thoroughly.

CLEANLINESS - Are the hay and grain storage areas clean and free from dust and mold?

HITCH - Look for cracks, rust and loose bolts.

SAFETY CHAINS - Make sure to cross chains before attaching to the vehicle (NOT the bumper).

BREAKAWAY - You want to check that your breakaway is shorter that your safety chains, but not so short that you snag it on a turn.

RAMPS AND DOORS - Ensure that they close and lock properly. In addition to conducting your own check before each trip, I’d advise that you send your truck and trailer to a specialist every six months for a more thorough inspection. It doesn’t cost

much to do, and will save you money in the long term. As soon as you see one thing that needs minor repairs, you can have it fixed before it turns into something bigger that will cost more money, and potentially even cause an accident.

HEALTH AND FIRST AID CHECK FOR YOUR HORSE Veterinary experts agree that traveling a competition fit and sound horse is exhausting for the horse. Therefore, traveling an unfit or out-of-work horse is pretty strenuous work. Planning ahead and making sure that your horse is as healthy and hydrated as can be pre-trip will save you from a potentially sickly horse at the end.

SOUNDNESS

It’s never advisable to travel a lame horse any distance, other than to a veterinarian! If your horse comes up lame before a long trip, you should do what you can to remedy the lameness. Failing that, delaying the trip until they’re steady on all four feet is advisable.

SHOW HORSE TODAY

August 2022 99

VITAL SIGNS

Check your horse’s vital signs for any indications of ill health prior to travel. For example, if your horse seems a little lethargic, you can schedule in more stops to make sure he is as comfortable as possible. If your horse seems to have a slight cough, you can decrease the amount of bedding on the floor to ensure that dust doesn’t aggravate the condition. *We never recommend travelling a sick horse, but a slightly out of sorts horse should travel just fine if you take into account additional stops and supplies needed.

ELECTROLYTES

Feed additional electrolytes for two or three days prior to transport. This will 100 August 2022

encourage your horse to drink more water, and fend off the dreaded long haul dehydration.

VACCINATIONS AND

WORMING UP TO DATE Up to date vaccinations are needed for most state or border crossings, and you may also want to look into whether specific vaccinations are recommended in the area that you’re travelling to. Worming your horse is one of the most important steps in maintaining your horse’s health. A horse that hasn’t been wormed can become extremely underweight, lethargic, and can develop a dull coat.

SHOW HORSE TODAY

SAFETY GEAR

RECENT COGGINS TEST

A Coggins test is used to check for Equine Infectious Anemia, a viral disease with no cure. FIRST AID KIT

Pack a first aid kit for both horse and human! Don’t just think of your horse when it comes to first aid. I’m always the one to pack a human first aid kit, and you’d be surprised by how often I have used it myself, as well as my fellow competitors!

VACCINATIONS AND PAPERWORK And while your horse’s health is of vital importance, you likely won’t be going anywhere without the correct paperwork. Most state or border crossings require health documents to prove that your horse isn’t a danger to the wider equine population. Common travel documents needed, which can vary depending on the state or country border, can include: health certificate, brand Inspection, up-todate vaccinations, and a negative Coggins test.

You can boot or wrap your horse’s legs when travelling, and for additional safety you can have them wear a poll guard and tail bandage. Practice Loading If you’re planning on taking your horse on a long journey, for his own safety it’s important to know that he will behave himself in the trailer. CAMERAS IN THE TRAILER Whilst cameras in the trailer can be seen as a luxury rather than a necessity, a friend of mine credited the camera for saving the life of one of her youngsters who became strung up in the trailer. If not for the camera, she wouldn’t have known that “Baby” was stuck on top of a partition, and pulled over to free him. ROUTE PLANNING If your trip is going to take more than a day, you should have a clear idea of your route, and backup routes! But most importantly, it should include horse friendly stopovers. Consider asking friends in the areas that you’re passing through if they have a spare paddock for your equine pal. If not, HorseMotel.com is a great resource for this!

SHOW HORSE TODAY

DURING THE TRIP REST STOPS Every two or three hours, you should stop and give your horse a 15-20 minute break. Give them water, offer them some hay, and give them a little time to just stand without having to constantly balance!

provide them with adequate hay and water. One thing you might want to consider if you have a horse that tends to eat quickly, is a slow feed hay bag. This will make it harder for your horse to get his hay, and greatly minimize the risk of choking. Providing water can be a little trickier, and you’ll want to make sure you stop every two or three hours to do this.

FEEDING AND WATERING Traveling takes its toll on your horses, so in order to maximize your horse’s comfort, it’s very important that you

Ask the

Fashion Pro

Q.

: Hi, Wendy. My new trainer wants me to ask for approval of every piece of show clothing I purchase. What do you think about this practice?

A.

We get it. There’s a certain picture your trainer wants you to present, especially in events like horsemanship and showmanship, and rightly so, particularly if your trainer is a carded judge. That picture he or she has in mind extends to your attire, and that means caution probably can’t be thrown to the wind when show clothes shopping. So the age-old “I need to get trainer approval before I buy” element of shopping is just part of the process for many riders, and many times we agree it’s a necessity. But just like in the hit show, Say Yes to the Dress, sometimes your opinion is the one that matters most.

THE REASONS 114 August 2022

BEHIND THE RULE

The trainer’s reasons for requesting approval are logical, and even more so when it comes to experienced trainers. They’ve seen it all, including client wardrobes that are not suitable for the event, the horse, or the rider. Speaking of which, if you’ve made

Ask the

Fashion Pro

poor choices in the past, you must pay the piper and ask permission to assure the outfit looks as good as you think it does. Unfortunately, some show clothes salespeople will tell you a garment looks amazing in their zeal to sell it, even if it’s not the right fit or look for you, so your trainer has probably experienced that situation, too. Your trainer also knows your flaws and areas of needed improvement as a rider. For example, are you told constantly to get your leg back or to keep your hand or arm still when executing a pattern? Your trainer won’t want those areas emphasized, so you may be asked to choose a piece that has no bling on the wrists to deemphasize motion, or to maintain a dark color from head to toe to keep leg position less prevalent. You might tend to drop a shoulder in horsemanship, so the design will get vetoed unless it’s symmetrical. We’ve even seen instances of exhibitors being asked to change their entire wardrobe after changing to a new trainer. It’s a complex issue because you might be switching

trainers to step up to a world show level, and perhaps you weren’t dressing the part before. The new changes in attire might be necessary to jump up another level or two (or three).

THE AWKWARD ASPECT Sometimes, however, the change in attire is personal preference for the trainer, and that unfortunately can mean you have to adhere to a dress code your trainer finds appropriate for him or herself (i.e. – black head

to toe in every event, etc.) because your performance is truly a representation of that trainer and his or her program. On the other hand, a trainer who is more open-minded about his or her own attire is more tolerant of more color or something trendy yet still appropriate. While it’s hard to judge ourselves and be sure what we love is the best choice for our body, we also know what

feels amazing when tried on, and the balance of trainer approval vs. client wishes can get sticky.

We regularly see clients from the same barns shopping, and one will get approval when purchasing yet the other client doesn’t hesitate. Don’t forget an inexperienced exhibitor or parent might want help choosing by the professional they are paying, especially if they are learning what is appropriate for each event. Another may have developed a relationship with a trainer over time to learn what the trainer finds acceptable, or together they’ve developed a style for that exhibitor. That scenario may simply mean the client realizes it is her money and knows the trainer trusts her judgement.

A DELICATE BALANCE Knowing all this, what should you do?

Learn why your trainer has the preferences he or she does, because following some basics might allow you freedom to experiment in other areas, ie – your trainer wants you in a black base, but doesn’t mind color on top of the base, you CAN have that turquoise color you’ve always wanted if you choose wisely. Shop with reputable vendors and designers who focus on customer service and your best interest rather than sales pressure. Follow your heart, like the happiest brides do when choosing their dream dress. The first rule of thumb with show attire is that you should feel great in your show clothing. If you feel fabulous, you tend to show well. All that being said, it is your money in the overall picture, but finding a balance starts with educating yourself, shopping with the right businesses, and always reaching for your dreams, including the clothes on your wish list. I love the look of my light show saddle and it could really use a cleaning, but I’m nervous to use a product that will turn it dark. Can you help?

A.

Saddles are expensive and the last thing you want to do is

go ruining your beautiful show tack! Leather New® Total Care is just the solution. This product is a color-safe, two in one, cleaner and condition. Meaning, there is no need to fret about your leather darkening! The formula dispenses like a dream so you only get the perfect amount without the runny or drippy mess! It has avocado oil that provides deep conditioning but it will not strip the dye from black tack or lighten dark tack. Leather New Total Care can also be used on other leather goods such as purses, boots and furniture. It is my go-to product when my fancy show saddle (or my show boots, or purses or couch…) need a cleaning. It is compact and fits perfectly within a groom bag or tack trunk – I even keep some in my glove box!

to keep yourhorse’s coat well-conditioned and healthy, you do want to avoid shampooing too often. PALM PARTNERSHIP TRAINING™ How Horses Like to Learn By Lynn Palm

If you follow my advice, your horse will love to learn and love you for it! Yours in partnership, “Wills” This Week… A reader contacted me with a question about a term in an article that she did not understand. I really appreciated hearing from her and encourage anyone who doesn’t understand a horsemen’s term I use, to ask me about it. The reader’s question was: What are tempi changes? I used this phrase to

describe an exercise that I was learning to improve through lessons with Olympic dressage rider Jane Savoie. Tempi changes are one of the most challenging disciplines that you can train your horse to do. To explain them, I first need to describe flying lead changes, which are the key component of tempi changes. Flying lead changes are done at the canter. When a horse is on a right lead canter, the right front and hind pair of legs stretches further forward in stride than the left pair. When a flying lead change is asked by the rider, the horse switches to the left lead where is his left front and hind leg pairs stretch further forward--without a change in cadence to his 3-beat canter. Tempi lead changes are sequences of flying lead changes, done at the canter, at a precise number of strides. Any increment of strides can make up a sequence of tempi changes. For example, tempi changes at 5 strides mean 5 strides of canter on one lead, a flying lead change, then 5 strides of canter on the other lead, and repeat. The most advanced tempi

Don’t forget that a horse’s hooves really start to grow this time of year. Call your blacksmith and get on a schedule for trims and/or resets every 4-6 weeks depending on your horse’s needs. With Springtime’s warmer temperatures and with the busy riding and show season here, time spent on training and schooling our horses increases. Whether riding for the ribbons or just the pleasure of being together, don’t forget to reward your horse’s extra efforts by rewarding him with some healthy treats. Purina is offering a horse treat that is not only tasty, but good for your horse, too! Even dogs like it, including my two English Lab pups Sherlock and Watson who love to sneak them away from my horses!

changes are done every stride. If we use our example of starting on the right lead, a single stride tempi change would be 1 stride right lead- flying change -1 stride left lead- flying change –1 stride right lead- flying change, and so on. Thanks to this reader for her question. Her inquiry reminds me of the importance of following Will’s suggestions… keep training (and explanations) simple and use clear, small steps to accomplish your goals.

Until then, follow your dreams…

We love to share our Dressage backgrounds and knowledge with you and would love to have you come ride with us.
