Faculty & Staff Golf League
FACULTY & STAFF GOLF LEAGUE Open to all current Sam Houston State University Faculty and Staff, retirees and spouses. This twoperson, 9-hole scramble league runs through June and July. Partner with your best golf buddy and get to know your fellow faculty and staff members. Schedule your times at your convenience. The league ends with a dinner and awards banquet in early August.
General Information League is open to all current Sam Houston State University Faculty and Staff. Retirees may play, but must partner with a current member. Spouse/Partners must partner with their current staff spouse/partner. Two person, 9-hole scramble. Score no higher than a bogey on each hole. Ladies will hit from the Green Tees and the Men from the Golds. Play begins the week of June 4 and the league will play eight rounds over 9 weeks. Teams are encouraged to play Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday nights. The Team Captain is responsible for making arrangements with both their opponents and with Raven Nest in advance. Teams are responsible for submitting their scorecard to the pro shop at the end of each round.

Registration Cost [ $85/person ] Register Online [ rsconnect.shsu.edu ] Registration Includes: Green fee for 8 rounds, 1/2 Cart every night of play, and Dinner and Awards Ceremony (held at the clubhouse).
Scheduling League schedule begins the week of June 4. Match-ups are scheduled on a monthly basis rather than on a weekly basis. Teams are still encouraged to play weekly on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday nights and teams must turn in six scores to be eligible for 1st and 2nd place trophies. Eight rounds will be played over 9 weeks with all rounds in June on the Front 9 and all rounds in July on the Back 9. Contact your opponent first, then Raven Nest to set up a tee time. Keep in mind that Raven Nest has Tuesday night scrambles every other week.

Membership
MEMBERSHIP As a current full-time student, faculty, or staff member, you have access to the Rec Sports Center! We offer non-student memberships for SHSU Alumni, retired Faculty/Staff, and Spouse/Domestic Partners of current members. To enter the RSC, a valid Bearkat OneCard or Membership ID is required. Attire Guidelines You must have a towel larger than 6� x 6� with you in the weight room. Please wear athletic attire that covers your torso. Closed-toed sports/ tennis shoes are required. Please, no bare midriffs, open-armed tank tops, jeans or shorts with rivets.
Guest Passes Students, Faculty/Staff, and all SHSU Rec Sports facility members may sponsor two (2) guests per day by purchasing daily passes ($10 each). Guests must be accompanied by the sponsor and have a valid ID on hand.

Quarter lockers found near the RSC Weight Room and changing rooms are available for day use and are cleared at closing.
Day use lockers are available for you to keep your items secure and off the floor. Bring your own lock and clear it daily. General use cubbies with no doors are also available at your own risk and are cleared daily.
Lockers are free to use; patrons must provide their own locks. Once a year they must be cleared. Signs are posted prior to cleanout.

FITNESS & WELLNESS “Get Fit” with Rec Sports
Fitness Assessments $15 per session / Included with personal training packages of 5 or more Learn where you are, so you’ll know where to go! Essential for anyone wanting to make a plan for their future fitness goals, fitness assessments include an evaluation of the major fitness components, including body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and core strength.

The Fitness Program offers comprehensive activities for the Bearkat community. Programs include GroupX Classes, Personal Training, Instructional Classes, Fitness Workshops, Certifications, Weight Room Orientations and more.
Custom GroupX Classes Looking for something fun to do with your friends, your organization, or your department? Try a custom group fitness class! Priced starting at $1 per minute, it is a great way to team-build and do something different, all while getting fit. Schedule some stress relieving yoga for your staff members, bring your friends and try one of our black light cycling classes, or take out some aggression with a Hit Fit class. Don’t want to come to the RSC for your event? We’ll come to you! Classes can be scheduled in the RSC or at another campus location.

This indoor cycling class consists of varying speeds, resistance levels and intensities targeted at raising your heart rate and strengthening your lower body while taking you through a variety of sprints and hills.

Total Body Toning
Gloves aren’t a fashion statement in this high-intensity interval training workout. Your instructor will lead you through explosive rounds on the punching bag where you will deliver different combinations that work your entire body!

FACILITIES & RESERVATIONS About our Facilities Recreational Sports is responsible for the management and general operation of nine recreational facilities across the SHSU campus. Each of our facilities is available for reservation and/or rental to the SHSU community. University Camp University Camp is a one of a kind recreation and retreat facility that offers the university community an ever increasing range of facilities. Open for day and limited overnight use, it’s an ideal spot for a variety of functions. Meeting lodges, a dining hall, barbeque pits, a fishing pier, picnic areas and more are available.
Challenge Course Price Range [ $10 - $20 / Person ] The Challenge Course at University Camp offers a unique, multi-participant high ropes course and an expansive series of low elements all in a beautiful natural setting. With the help of our thoughtful and well-trained staff, the programs offered can be designed to meet any number of educational, developmental and recreational goals.

CERTIFICATIONS American Red Cross CPR/AED/FA Training Sundays [ May 20 / June 3 / July 15 ] The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. AQUATICS Jump in for a swim in our aerated pool. We have four 25yard lap lanes and a leisure area which can be used for water volleyball, water basketball, intramural and special events. Additional amenities include a tanning area, lounge chairs and covered tables.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS The Intramural Sports program provides you the opportunity to compete and have fun in various team and individual sports. Leagues and tournaments are organized into different skill levels so you can play against other participants with comparable abilities in a relaxed, recreational atmosphere. Flag football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, racquetball, golf, and tennis are just a few of the sports offered throughout the year.
