Reforming infrastructure, Renewing programmed place This proposal suggests three mixed zones with transit transfer centers; the integration of Transit Transfer Center and Retail Arcade on Dongjak Bridge, the Market and Agriculture Alternative School on the existing parking lot, and Government Office and Public Leisure Space at the riverside. These zones will be connected by pedestrian walkways and transit networks. Dongjak Station will be a vibrant community with various activities that unifies an integral, characterized place.

한강은 길이 500km, 폭 1.2km인 그 규모로 인해 지배적인 하나의 장벽으로 작용하며, 서울시는 한강을 극복하기 위해 걸출한 인프라스트럭처들, 강북의 강변북로, 강남의 올림픽 대로, 20여 개 이상의 한강다리들을 만들었다.

원래 인프라스트럭처들은 어떤 장소들을 연결하기 위해 고안되었지만, 서울시에 있는 대부분의 인프라스트럭처들이 자체의 용량과 도시 속에서 차지하는 위계로 인해 그것이 위치한 땅은 고립되며, 주위의 지역을 분절시킨다. 따라서, 도시에 많은 단절된 공간들이 생기게 되며, 그 공간들의 재생과 단절된 주변지역과의 소통이 중대한 이슈로 떠오르게 되었다.

이동을 목적으로 만들어진 도시 인프라스트럭처들이 단계적 과정 (예 : 고속도로 - 간선도로 - 지선도로 목적지)을 통한 이동방식만 가능하게 하여, 도시내의 실제 물리적 공간을 상당히 점유하고 있다. 이 위계를 재정비하여 시작점인 인프라스트럭처와 목적지가 되는 프로그램, 그리고 그 중간의 루트들이 비순차적인 접근을 할 수 있게 복합화한다. 이것은 지속적이고 원활한 연결을 이끌어내며 고립되었던 지역의 통합적인 재생을 가능하게 하며, 근본적으로 도시의 질적인 변화를 도모한다.

Dongjak Station, the critical place

동작역: 전형적이나 가장 시급한 사례

The project site is Dongjak Station region, subway line 4, currently in redevelopment with line 9. This zone consists of Dongjak Grand Bridge, Dongjak Station line 4 and 9, 88 Olympic Highway, Banpo Creek, HyunChoong Road, Dongjak Parking lot, and an enormous green space nearby, Seoul National Cemetery. This now-abandoned area will provide an appropriate prototype for all the divided districts through Maxmix.

프로젝트의 사이트는 지하철 4호선이 지나가고 최근 9호선이 신설되면서 환승구간이 생기게 될 동작역 일대이다. 이 지역은 동작대교, 지하철 동작역 4호선, 9호선, 올림픽대로, 반포천, 현충로, 동작주차공원, 그리고 가까이에 거대 녹지인 국립현충원이 있다. 이 곳 역시 다양한 종류의 도시기반시설들이 얽혀있어 주변지역을 양분하고 도시맥락으로부터 고립되었다. 현재 버려진 이 지역의 재정비는 서울시의 거대 기반시설로 인해 고립된 모든 공간에 대한 위계의 재정비를 통해 적합한 유형으로서 제시한다.

3개의 복합화된 구역을 대중교통환승센터와 함께 제시한다. 대중교통환승센터와 상업시설이 동작대교에 놓이게 되고, 농업대안학교와 시장이 동작 주차공원자리에 들어가며, 강변으로의 확장된 인프라스트럭처에는 민원서비스를 하는 공공사무실과 공공레저를 담당하는 시설이 자리한다. 모든 프로그램들은 보행로와 환승네트워크로 연결된다. 동작역은 다양한 도시민의 활동을 담는 활성화된 커뮤니티의 장으로서 통합적이고 특색화된 장소로 재 탄생할 것이다.
