Parfums de Marly’s Pegasus is the quintessential French gentlemen’s perfume

Housed in a gleaming silver bottle with a matching stopper, Pegasus is a heady Fougere scent. This Parfums de Marly signature olfactory composition is true to its roots as a gentleman’s fragrance. An “ode to natural beauty,” this intense and vibrant fragrance strikes a balance between strength and elegance. It is best suited for spring, fall and winter, either as a day or night fragrance.

The scent opens with a balance of fruit, wood and spice, developed from a blend of cypress, bergamot and heliotrope. Its heart offers a beautifully intertwined combination of jasmine, lavender, and bitter almond, creating a powdery, fresh fragrance. The base, featuring vanilla fused with an oriental twist of amber and sandalwood, was convinced to linger on the skin.

Parfums de Marly was founded in 2009 by Julien Sprecher. His love of perfumes was passed down from his father, and was strongly influenced by the history of the palace and gardens of Versailles, located in the vicinity where he was born and raised. The brand takes its name from the Chevaux de Marly, commissioned by King Louis XV in 1743, as his pleasure palace, hosting extravagant celebrations.

The 18th century is also considered the pinnacle of French elegance, with perfumes being an essential element of refinement. The King’s court was so obsessed with perfumes that it was dubbed the “perfumed court” - pouches, fans, gloves and even fountains were doused with perfume.

The brand’s “signature” fragrances have a strong position and concepts that are short, striking, and direct. Although they have been curated to express a refined and contemporary lifestyle, they are very much in line with the codes and heritage of the 18th-century royal court of France. Each Parfums de Marly fragrance has its own personal olfactory experience, but always with a trace of French elegance.
