ABOUT ME
My name is Simone Bruni, I am 30 years old and I was born and raised in Rome. In 2011, I obtained the bachelor’s degree with honors at the School of Architecture of the University of Rome, “La Sapienza”. In 2012, I applied for a master programme in “Virtual Architecture” at the Quasar Univeristy of Rome, which provided me the advanced Autodesk certificate of specialization (3dsMax, Autocad) and very high modeling and rendering skills. In 2013, I move from Rome to
Milan in order to start a new enthusiastic life experience and I enrolled at the Faculty of Civil Architecture of Milan,“Politecnico”. Last 26 April, I obtained the Master degree in Architecture and Building Construction with 110/110. Recently I achieved the Italian Licence to practice Architecture. Although my academic profile is oriented towards the architecture and technology issues, I have also honed my architectural visualisation
skills due to the several years of working experience in that sector. For the latest 6 years I have been focusing in arch visualisation and 3D modeling. This is one of my biggest passions since I started my academic studies. During the past few years, I have had the possibility of working as a 3D visualisation freelancer and as 3D visualiser for many different studios.

PERSONAL STATEMENT
I held a bachelor degree in Building Architecture at the University of Rome “La Sapienza. Once I obtained that qualification, I attended a master programme in Virtual Architecture at the Quasar University of Rome. That experience sparkled in me a strong passion for 3D graphic applied to architecture. Today, I gratuated to the master programme at the Faculty of Civil Architecture of Milan with 110/110. Furthermore, I have a deep passion about technology and building construction, I have a proficient knowledge of IT. For the past few years I have also worked as a 3D visualisation freelancer and for different studios. Recently I achieved the Italian Licence to practice Architecture.

“Since the antiquity the master builders laid the foundations of the bridge by the use of a load-bering structure: the round arch. Our challange was to develope a strictly bond between design and structure, where the capability to carry loads is clearly defined by the open structure of the bridge.”

SHAPE AND STRUCTURE catenary
The arch represents structurally an “arch tied bridges where the orizontal component of forces is eliminated. The two arches are inclined towards each other and joined at the vertices, which improves transverse bending stiffness because the two arches stabilise each other. Axial forces are transferred by a supporting cables of steel. In the other hand, the

two catenaries diverge and are supported by a series of steel rods capable of supporting 3,50

what is the landmark?
The tower represent an essential element of the landmark. The shape configuration and the the structure work together to create an new icon for the city of Milan. The climb to the podium is significat to represent that idea.

“The variation along the height doesn't mean only a formal design but it represents a diversification from the public and private sapce. There are three main portions where it is possibile to identify its distictive features: the floor plan with the entrance to the tower, the central zone hosting common spaces and finally the roof with the terrace and other facilities 19

“The distribution of the interior space follow the geometrical law of the ellipse by four points. Basically it is composed by a radial system merged all to the four focal points. Each line is orthogonal to the ellipse. By this way it is possibile to subdivide the space correctly.”
“In the half lenght of the tower the elliptical shape of the floor plans gets smaller, with the minimum value in the 22th floor. For that reason there are different open spaces for public usage and mixity facilities”

03 INFINITY WAVE "Infinity Wave is an interpretation of the role of the contemporary park in the metropolis. The project presented forward is located in the area of Expo of Milan. Once EXPO 2015 in Milan has finished, the area surrounded by heavy infrastructure has to reestablish a functional relationship with the neighborhoods.
“The first apporach to the designing was to develop an abstract process using our immagination. The aim was to imagine the expo site of the urban area out of phisycal context. We decided to represent a ideal urban landscape with two different materials: The earth with clay and the density with dirt.” Design Urban Planning Building Lab I / Univeristy of Milan “Politecnico” Supervisor: Prof. Arch. Michele De Lucchi / Students: Simone Bruni, Serena Obino, Violetka Slavova, Alessandra Di Stefano Grimaldi
26
2013/2014
“We start modeling whith our hands the first layer of clay. After a series of attempts spended in modeling the material, we begun to recognize an interesting shape formed primarly by "something" we will have named "waves". The second step was to imagine to make density to the gorund level in order to represent the "hypotetical" human presence.

“The park acts as a connective tissue in an organism: placed in the middle of the site, it extends to cover itr whole lenght. Border create a protected environment inside.”
29
THE WAVES Inspired by Jane Jacobs’ advice on successful integration of parks in cities, we introduced a new urban element – the waves – to create a lively and animated environment throughout the park, at the borderline with the street interaction. The waves lift some of the park’s edges to house underneath it small restaurants, bars, shops and other functions without losing any green area. The waves intentionally descend to street level at many points in order to keep the visual and physical connection between the three main entities: park, street and the surrounding ring of buildings.

STRATEGY
CONCEPT DESIGN Architectural project of a stadium located in Milan (Post - Expo2015). This project was subdivided by two different steps. First was designend the masterplan around the stadium, second we need to estabilish the correct position of the stadium. Legacy of the EXPO-2015 was the main topic we needed to focus in.

ELEMENTS AND COMPONENTS
“The main structure is composed by the system of pillars, made up of a mixed-material: reinforced concrete and steel. Pillars support both the main structure of the stadium's cavea and the covering roof thanks to a steel-cables system that unload the weight to the ground." 37
38
39
40
“The covering is composed by a sequence of steel struss that follow the direction of the ring-truss and support the membrane canopy. By the use of plug-in Grasshopper and Rinocheros program could be calculated and model the whole variable roof."

06 ARCH_VISUALISATION Nowadays is essential the use of advanced representation tools in order to represent your ideas or concept in the architectural field. Although my academic study was strictly based on design and building construction, I have also always paied attention to the arch visualisation with the use of rendered images. When I begune to use CG programs I was very inquired to the comprehension of the most adavanced CG programs that were (and are) commonly used in the architectural field like 3ds Max and AutoCad. I started discovering different programs by myslef and soon I realized that this could be early become my deep passion. For that reason I attended a master programme in Virtual Architecture that covered all modeling and rendering skills using 3ds Max and V-Ray.
