“The humans always leave” says Dog.
…the animals are alone.
“The humans are not here. Not yesterday. Not today,” says Dog.
“The humans always leave. But the humans always come back,” says Cat.
“We have no food. We have no water,” says Dog.
Cat stops playing with her ball of string.
“You are right,” says Cat.
Cat and Dog go to the kitchen.
“There is no food in the fridge” says Dog.
“There is no food on the table,” says Cat.
“I know where the food is,” says Fish.
“Shut up, Fish,” says Cat.
“Cat! Be good!” says Dog. “Fish can help us.”
“I have an idea,” says Cat. “I can eat Fish.”
“I can help you,” says Fish. “But do not eat me. Promise!”
“Promise him, Cat!” says Dog.
“Okay, I promise,” says Cat. “Not today.”
“And tomorrow?” asks Fish.
“Tomorrow is tomorrow,” says Cat.
“Where is the food, Fish?” asks Dog.
“It is in the cupboard,” says Fish.
“There is dog food, cat food, and fish food.”
“We can’t open the door,” says Dog.
“Stupid fish,” says Cat.
First, Cat jumps up on the table.
Then, cat jumps up on the fridge.
Then, Cat sits above the cupboard.
“What now? asks Cat.
Cat has her ball of string.
Cat ties the string to the cupboard door.
Cat throws the ball of string to Dog.
Dog takes the string in his mouth. He pulls and pulls...
“We have food today,” says Fish.
“What about tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow is tomorrow,” says Cat.
“The humans always leave” says Dog.
“But the humans always come back.”
